I bought the SES Broadband system from Europasat in April 2014 for use at a holiday home in central France. I was attracted by the PayAsYouGo option, because it seemed to suit the intermittent usage we would require, making several visits per year to the property. Broadband down a telephone line would cost me quite a bit each and every month, whether in residence or not. Mobile broadband was not feasible, because of the absence of 3G transmitters in our sparsely populated area. i found I could install the SES system (dish and receiver) myself, though it did require intermediate DIY skills and understanding of the technology. The send and receive signal strengths were adequate, and the speed usable for regular browsing and streaming Skype voice calls. I have not tested streaming of video material, but suspect that the bandwidth would not be adequate by the standards we are used to with optical cable at home. My major disappointment is that the £7 for 1GB for 30 days PAYG is not really that: your £7 only covers you to your next monthly payment date (I pay ZERO on the given date). If I arrive at the house just a few days before this date, then I just get those few days' use for the £7 then have to buy another top-up. This system would make sense for a small additional top-up on a monthly contract, but doesn't seem fair when PAYG is your only use, and you use no more than one GB in a month. To rate the system as 5 stars, I would want the payment system improved, and the bandwidth increased. Overall, however, the system has solved my broadband needs in that place at a cost lower than any competing offering. The major difference is the need for the considerable up-front investment in the hardware.

The service is good generally, however we have to restart the router often (at least daily) but this is a minor issue to be honest. Despite the good up and down speeds, there are a number of things that dont work on satellite broadband due to the very high latency -potential buyers should be made aware of this as it involves time consuming work-arounds at times. General browsing and website access is also compromised due to the latency issue. I would say that in real terms, 18MB download via satellite is probably the equivalent of a 3 or 4MB traditional connection, as far as general browsing is concerned. I would say that satellite is an option only if a traditional connection of 3MB or more is unavailable.

Have had the system for 3 years,initially very expensive first year then became more affordable.Reliable service with good speeds.major criticism. Is exorbitant charges when wanting to reduce monthly capacity.Seems customer gets penalized heavily when wanting to reduce capacity but reasonable charges when wishing to increase capacity.Unable to understand logic behind this other than "Greed".Come on let's have a bit of fairness all around especially for longstanding customers.

This is a great service but please be aware that the internet provision has a short time delay so is NOT suitable at all for gaming. This specific limitation was not explained to us when we purchased the satellite. However, Europasat did agree to us reducing our usage to £10 per month low usage which is still useful for us as a backup. An excellent bit of kit at an affordable price but with usage limitations. Great customer service.

It does what it says on the box. Gives me excellent internet access when I need speed for work. What I really would like is an unlimited just like MEO, but the price could reflect your better service. Your big packages are just too expensive. Why not have a buffer price list depending on monthly usage so if I use 30 gb thats what i pay for. if 100 gb etc etc. It would have to be on a trial basis for existing customers who already have the equipment.

Very pleased with the ultimate outcome, but a few teething problems happened between the original site survey and installation: 1. The installation engineer was not from the same Company as came out to do the original site survey, therefore had no knowledge of the install and what was required. Luckily I was at home and was able to walk him through the previous engineers comments and recommendations. 2. Although a free standing roof/patio stand was supplied as there was potential complications with the proposed wall mounting. No wall mounting bracket was supplied and therefore this option was not available to us regardless. 3. The installation engineer also commented that the King Post would have been a better solution rather than the roof/patio stand provided. He also commented that this would possible have been a cheaper option?

In general the sat system is reliable and reasonably priced but does not attain the upload and download speeds advertised. In particular we have problems with "facetime" in that we never obtain a video link (despite chatting to one of your staff about it a few months ago). The website is helpful and provides a good level of information. It would be helpful if you could provide day by day usage (graph or list) to complement the usage data you currently provide.

Really good and helpful installation by Keith who knows his stuff and overcame quite a few problems with our old farm house. So far so good as the service is reliable, but not particularly fast. This is not of great importance for our business, but could be if we needed to upload more data. The only problem is that we cannot work out mobile telephones through the service. Like so many isolated rural businesses we have no mobile signal. A disgrace in the 21st century! Otherwise a cracking good team of friendly and helpful people who have provided us with a reliable service. Thanks to you all.

Good helpful team, sometimes tricky to buy extra data packages on the pay-as- you- go scheme but hopefully this will become easier as an on-line function in the near future

The system works faster than BT in this area, which is dismal, but I'm constantly having to keep an eye on downloads. My son only has to watch a film online, or my wife watch something 'on demand', and I find half of my available Mbs are used! Therefore it can get quite expensive. The flip side is that it seems to be fairly reliable and if there ever is a problem, you can talk to a proper person and they're on to it straight away.

They came and fixed the satellite dish without fuss and on time. We use the internet source as a backup for our radio broadcasting and it works reliably.
