“Hard to fault, apart from lack of choice in type of seats. I don't want to be seated at a table, but invariably find this is what I get, especially on my return journeys to Hull - often opposite some oaf who spends the entire journey ramming his feet against my legs.
On the pother hand, I imagine other people would prefer not to be in 'airline' style seating, so why not let passengers choose?”
“Nice train carriages, neat and clean. Excellent support from guards on the London train when we had a large musical instrument to transport - thank you!”
“Excellent service from Hull Trains this year. Always spot on time. Always there when you need them. If you prebook you can save a lot of money as well.”
“I have no complaints, but am always puzzled that there is no announcement when the buffet is closing, in either direction. Does it stay open right to the end? Seems unlikely.
Another puzzle: Whenever I book a ticket (online), I ask for an airline seat (quiet coach) but am almost always given a table. Since on boarding the train there are always airline seats still available, I wonder why this is?”
“Excellent Customer service from purchasing the ticket(s) through to the journeys themselves. Clean carriages, polite Staff, very reasonable adherence to the timetable, what more would one expect? Well done.”
“I have travelled with Hull Trains for the last 8 years and on every occasion I can honestly say the Teams on board are the most friendly, informative and courteous people I have come across.”
“On the occasions that I have used Hull Trains I have always been very satisfied with the service and reception that I have received from the staff. The condition of the train sets both inside and out puts many, if not all of the larger operators in the shade and is a real tribute to all of the company's staff, reflecting well the ethos of the company as a whole.
Being a bit of an anorak - I currently work as a volunteer on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway - I know the difficulties in maintaining an efficient and punctual service (despite the vagaries of Network Rail and their cohorts) and applaud Hull Trains' efforts in providing a fast and enjoyable service. Long may it remain so.
Looking forward to electrification and the electric/diesel hybrid train sets.”
“Easy to book on-line and cost effective. Helpful and courteous staff on board. The snack bar has a good choice of fresh food.
Slow train from Doncaster but that is not the fault of the Hull Trains but the fault of successive governments not investing in the North.”
“My wife and I went for a day trip to The Shard and used Hull Trains. It was a great experience and Anne was even able to get the speciality tea she likes at the onboard cafe. We got up incredibly early to join the train at Beverley and it was worth it. The staff were great and the train manager, Katie, was outstanding. Free wi-fi worked well. Only problem was that it was too late/complicated to get a rebate on the parking ticket at Beverley station (not Hull Trains fault).
Have booked again for weekend in February and this time will be travelling First Class. Looking forward to it.”
“We are visitors from Australia and each year we travel between London and Hull via Hull Trains. We find the service and comfort excellent and the ticket pricing almost unbelievable. Highly recommended!”
“By fat the best train company in the UK- have travelled standard and first class both excellent . Far exceeds the standard of accommodation and service on Virgin for east coast journeys”
