quoted £903 deposit and over £500 monthly to be insured on my people carrier!! overall policy amount over £6,000 I could buy a new car and insurance for that!

My son has received a letter staring he is not insured, despite having paid for this. He now finds he will be charged £35 to discuss whether he is covered or not. Even local police office said this is shamefull. We have tried every avenue to contact someone and got nowhere. Would not recomend General Acccident. Mrs L Boyd.

Cost effective, easy to buy. Have not had cause to claim so am unable to comment on service quality.

The website was clear and easy to use. The documents are easy to access and print. When I changed my car and needed to alter insurance details I phoned up and spoke to someone . They were so helpful and went through everything with me. everything fell into place. Excellent service.

I found that communication with GA was quite complicated, I eventually sorted it out and bought the policy. However I do not like the threatening manner of the contract ie if you do not do this or fail to do that you will be subject to to a penalty of something like £56.00. Possibly being an older motorist and not possessing 100% computer skills exacerbated the situation. I will not be renewing with them next year.

I have recently been involved in an accident which I was at fault for and the service and efficiency I have received has been amazing! From General accident my insurers, to Jacksons who recovered my vehicle, to Solus who fixed everything at their garage, to enterprise who sorted me a courtesy car! Everyone has been helpful and friendly! They all called when they said they would and kept me up to date at all times!! My car was taken away and a courtesy car given me the same day as my accident (previously through another insurers it took ages to sort out). The courtesy car was also a brand new seat ibiza! The parts for my car came fast and they did a great job and even cleaned it inside and out too! Enterprise even give you a lift home after dropping the car off to them. The fixing of my car took 5 working days so not bad either. Hoping my insurance shall still be cheap with them next year as I would definitely consider staying with them! The excess was the lowest I could find too so cheaper than most other insurers! Thank you to everyone there who sorted everything out and did a great job :)

You can only speak to GA for 30 days after first buying a policy; after that everything had to be done online. I had problems when I changed a vehicle that they could not match on the deal database. Even if you need to complain you can only do so on line which just adds to the frustration when things are already going wrong. There should really be a person to speak to when there is a complaint that needs resolving quickly.

I had been insured with general accident for just over a year, I purchased a new vehicle and informed general accident about the change and they gave me the new premium quote of £120 a month (I was 19) which seemed fair so I continued the policy. I've now received an email (5months later) explaining that they made a mistake in the quote and actually the premiums should be 210 a month and that I hadn't been insured for the previous 5 months. I argued that I should not have to pay the extra as I agreed to the quote they gave me and it was their mistake, I was told directly 'if you're not happy with the quote, leave us'. They didn't even apologise for the mistake, leaving me out of pocket and more scarily, If I would have had to claim in the time, I wouldn't have had any insurance. Please don't use this company!! I have been trying to get a quote on a potential newish car. I had to enter my job and organisation twice. It time logged me out when my husband was trying to enter his details and did not store what we had already up loaded AN hour later I still did not have a quote
