There is no way to give 0 Star , we called in the morning around 10.30 saying we have a rat at home....and now the time is 5.29 and till now came in then what’s the purpose of having an emergency contact to the insurance team ..... and no courtesy call as well !!!!

Absolute joke. Trying to sell my isa whilst I've actually got something in it. On hold for two hours now. Branch staff can't/won't help as they "don't have any financial advisers in store" but there's leaflets all over this branch selling you a mortgage. Exactly how does that work if there are no advisers!!!! Seems there are when you're setting up and buying them!!!!!!! Just been told I've lost 8k and now in another queue loosing more money whilst they "find" someone to "help me"

I have been insured with Halifax for the last 10 years and never had to make a claim. When I originally took the policy I paid £500 per year and have paid the same for this period of time. I don’t live in a detached, I live in a 3 bed terrace however, I trusted that I was with a reputable company and I would be given a good service and value for money. I called them last week to report my roof was leaking after the bad storms they told me I would have to pay an additional £350 excess up front until they determined whether the leek was due to wear and tear. I was very unhappy about this as I didn’t have £350 immediately available. I was fuming about this as my roof was leaking badly. I put the phone down and immediately asked my Son to look for alternative insurance, Only to be horrified that top of the list for the same cover costing only £117 was Halifax I asked him to fully check the details, and these were correct. I called them straight away to complain. They told me I was right with what I had found however it was up to myself to review the costs and not them I’ve over paid £3600 over 10 years and would of continued to do so for another 10 should I have not made the call. These so called big companies are a total rip off to the vulnerable people such as myself. I will be copying this to Martin Lewiss and all other web sites to highlight the fact it’s not the street leaders or loan sharks we need to be aware of but the people you automatically would trust Please make sure your not making the same mistake we have done Chris Leeds

Took out "Emergency Home Cover" in addition to my general home insurance. I made a claim because of water getting into the loft area around the chimney following high winds, heavy rain and winter storms. The policy proved to be a waste of time and over two weeks later I was still waiting for "emergency" repairs. In the end got my own contractors in to sort it. I was promised dates from Halifax that just did not materialise and had to constantly keep phoning to find out what was going on. I Would definitely not renew.

Be warned - called them up to cancel, they continued taking money for a whole year. I only realised when a renewal appeared the next year. Impossible to get through to a complaints department on the phone, then I got a call many hours later saying I would be notified in writing of a response. Probably going to have to claim money back via my bank.

Have had to contact Halifax emergency service twice now. On both occasions I had to call them back to find out what was going on and if they would be sending someone to check my leaking roof. On the first occasion the roofer showed up two days later in skinny jeans and leather loafers - It was evident that he had no intentions of doing any fixtures to a leaking roof. Today (16/2/2020) I contacted the emergency helpline at 8.30am as a pipe/gutter was leaking in my bedroom - They said due to the bad weather it may take 3 days for someone to come out but they will let me know. I had to call them back at 9.30am and then 11.30am to be put on hold for over 20 mins each time and then be told they are still trying to get someone out and that they will keep in contact with me throughout the day. It is now 19:50 and I haven't heard anything! What i'm getting at is this is terrible and I should have never purchased Halifax's emergency cover as they are clearly not equipped to deal with emergency's. I had to call a friend to try and stop the leaking! Halifax is the worst home insurer I've ever had by far! Bunch of cowboys! Privilege and More Than insurance treated me much better! Their emergency cover meant just that - An emergency! Don't be fooled or sucked in by the name (Halifax) like I was - they are pathetic thieves! Cant wait to go back to a more reputable insurance company! I would rate them ZERO stars! They are beyond ridiculous!

MISLEADING 'OPTIONAL' COVER. I thought that I was covered for push bikes under my contents cover, although I had not listed any as they were not over the specified value. Upon making a claim for a theft, I was told that push-bikes are not covered as I didn't opt for that optional cover. I can only assume that this was very misleading in the registration process, as I own a number of bikes (all under their specified value) which I certainly would have wanted to 'opt-in' to cover if I had been given the option in a reasonable manner. I will not be renewing with this provider.

Awful service ... passed from pillar to post ... had one neanderthal who barely grunted at me ... and never confirmed that I was speaking with Allianz on behalf of Halifax Home Insurance. In the end I was told to phone back tomorrow ... sure because a fire isn't am emergency! Plus they seem to do everything in their power to avoid paying out. REALLY REALLY UPSET!

Rubbish Service. BVS loss adjusters their appointed representatives are crooks. Go straight to the Ombudsman if they dispute your claim.

Very poor with claim handling they have a 3 rd party called BVS who handle claims and all they do is cut costs and you struggle to get your claim sorted like for like instead they try and offer you a small cash settlement that does not cover the costs

I WAS MIS-SOLD THE POLICY ADDING AN CLAUSE ON JEWELLERY THAT IT IS ONLY COVERED IN THE HOUSE. WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE WEAR JEWELLERY AND CANNOT WEAR OUT OF HOUSE. JUST LIKE BUYING AN CAR BUT NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE ON ROAD.

This was the worst insurance company I have ever used, their loss adjuster Paul Cooper made me feel like a criminal and was very avassive, dodging issues that had occurred took 9 months to resolve my claim, Paul Cooper. Shambles the whole of this company

Don't waste your time with Halifax Home Insurance. My insurance renewal has just come through and after my first year the price has increased by an unbelievable £148.33!! I have not made any claims or changes to my policy and no explanation was given for the increase. Called the company but this was a complete waste of time. So much for loyalty - A TOTAL RIP OFF!!

Excellent from start to finish for contents insurance. Had to make two claims, one for a damaged hob and one for a stolen bike. Both handled professionally and speedily. Customer service a delight. Genuingly surprised at how good my experience has been.

Cost us £17 in phone calls, so say we didn't want to claim for our car having a slight dent to one wing. Kept getting passed from pillar to post because your premium rate staff with attitude don't know what they are doing, or play dumb to make money on your RIP off phone line. At least make it a standard rate number to make up for your substandard staff.
