Never ever insure yourself with this company period! They have become independent and now keep your data for continuous payment. This means they have all your card details including security code. I had a friend pay a one off payment and they took the following months without consent after being told not to save the details. The customer service is shocking, they are not interested in what you say just place you on hold for hours on end. Informed them that taking a payment on a card that they were specifically told was a one off was fraud, theft as well as a breach of data protection. They are not interested and have been told on several occasions now that 'It's irrelevant'. in a nutshell this is not the best nor is it the UK's number one insurance broker, if so then the population are mugs.

I wanted to insure my Yamaha MT-125 worth new about 4K. MCE insurance quotes it for £306 with £250 volontary excees that we discussed over the phone and I agreed for it. When papers arrived I found out that there is compulsory excees which is £2000!!!!! On top of which there is my £250 of volontary one I agreed for. The lady from MCE did not clearly said on the phone about this. Who would insure the bike with £2000 compulsory excees? I checked other companies and most of them have £250 of compulsory excees. Of course I wanted to cancel my insurance with MCE straight away and, as you can expect, there was aministration cancellation fee about £50!!! NEVER, EVER AGAIN!

You'll notice all the positive reviews of MCE are from individuals that have simply purchased a policy. Look at anyone who has had to claim and the true picture emerges. I have insured numerous times with MCE. Price competitive, easy to set up, so up until the point of an insurance claim, ignorance of what lies beneath. I was rear-ended by an agricultural vehicle. I managed to stay on the bike, but the rear of my bike was damaged, including a twisted subframe. The 3rd party admitted liability. Having not been in this situation before, I reported it to MCE. That phone call cost me £18.53 on their premium rate number. They were very keen to get my KTM Superduke R collected and taken to their 'repair centre' in Northampton. I could not choose a KTM dealer to repair it. It could only be done by them. They were also falling over themselves to provide a loan bike. All arranged without any actual information of the procedure or timescale, even though a straight forward uncontested 3rd party claim. They really pushed their 'partner' personal injury lawyers, Fletchers. They were on me like a rabid dog, bombarding me with phone calls and emails. Still, where there's blame, there's a claim and some big money to be made. The day before the collection of my bike was booked for, I get a call from the 3rd party's insurer, NFU Mutual advising me that their client has admitted liability and could they help get my bike repaired? So what do I do? I've never had any dealings with NFU and surely MCE are more likely to look after my best interests, right? So I decline, but they offer their contact details if I need any help. So, MCE van turns up and unloads a snotty, scraped-up, corroded 2010 Z1000 fully sticked up in MCE/Big Ed branding. I'm simply asked for a signature to take my bike away and a signature for the 'hire agreement terms & conditions' for the loaner. I insisted that I read said terms, which were conveniently 'in the van'. Upon reading, I was signing a hire agreement of £105 a day. Yes. One hundred and five pounds for every single day that I am in possession of what is no more than £3000 of bike. Alarm bells start ringing. The delivery guy plays dumb. He can't tell me anything. I'm feeling uncomfortable about the whole thing. I'm about to wave my bike good bye without any control over it at all and MCE are racking up £730 a week, in the meantime. So I decline to get involved. I send the van and loan bike away after calling NFU back, who are incredibly helpful and ask me where I would like the bike repaired and could they arrange for either a loan bike or car? The difference in customer focus and service could not be more different. Except, I'm not NFU's customer! They have a 65 plate, 300 mile 5 door hatchback on my drive that afternoon. Now I've effectively washed my hands of 'smoke & mirrors' MCE, they see their profit opportunity slipping away and start bombarding me with calls from random individuals wanting to check that I'm now dealing direct with the 3rd party insurer. Fletchers are still chasing me by email and send me a claim form in the post. One of their people call me asking why they have not received claim details. When I tell them I won't be claiming, they are speechless. Why, they ask? Because I have not been injured, I reply. The inference was that it was almost irrelevant. I should claim anyway. So in conclusion, MCE only works for MCE. Plain & simple. Money drives it all. They do not give a toss about what's best for their customer, just to wring every last drop of profit out of the situation. Once the claim is settled, I will cancel my policy withem and never, ever deal with them as long as I live.

Am having exactly the same problems as earlier posts in addition they apparently lost the bike for 6 weeks. they have been taking money for a excess insurance policy which I'm sure is probably a scam in the first place...then they denied that I had this and sent me a payment schedule which shows that I'm paying £10 less than I actually am and my bank statements prove this! (can't say if this is a doctored certificate or a genuine admin error) but anyway they are refusing to pay out against it...when you phone you get lie after lie but can't actually speak to the person dealing directly with it...worst company ever dealt with been going on since July and is now with the ombudsman who unfortunately doesn't seem to be doing a lot of onbudsmaning...got 7 days before I take them to court....should look at a class action I reckon

By far the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. My bike was written off in an arson attack in July. Since then I have been fed one lie after another from MCE regarding a settlement pay out. They always have an excuse and will not allow you to speak directly to the payments team or a manager. My case has now been passed to a solicitor. Whatever you do, go with another company, MCE may be the biggest and the cheapest but are the worst.

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. I WISH I HAD READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE INSURING MY BIKE WITH MCE. MY BIKE WAS STOLEN IN JUNE. IT IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTACT THEM, AND THEN YOU WILL WAIT DAYS/WEEKS FOR THEM TO GET BACK TO YOU. THEY WILL TRY EVERY TACTIC THEY CAN THINK OFF TO DELAY ANY PAYMENT. BRITISH SUPERBIKE GUY'S YOU SHOULD BE EMBARASSED TO HAVE YOUR NAME ASSOCIATED WITH THIS COMPANY. LIKE SO MANY OTHERS I HAVE NOW GOT TO INVOLVE THE INSURANCE OMBUDSMAN AND MY SOLICITORS TO TRY AND GET MY (LEGITIMATE) CLAIM PAID. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!! DEL.

Absolutely useless!! My bike got stollen in June and I'm still having to ring them up to see what's going on an all I get told is they will ring me back in a few days, 2 weeks go by and I then have to ring back to get told the same again! When my policy runs out I deffinatly won't be renewing it! Again absolutely useless wouldn't recommend to anyone!

If we could give less than one star we would; MCE has given us nothing but headache, frustration and a huge phone bill since dealing with them. I would strongly advise any consumer to pay that little bit extra for a 'legitimate' company who are competent and efficient. In the first instance my partners vehicle was stolen and recovered by the police; damage to the bike did not appear significant and was a repairable project (advised by mechanic friend), MCE agreed to take the bike into storage over night (later said this would be at our expense), then remove the bike from said storage to take it without permission to Bristol from Plymouth to a salvage yard, they then moved the bike (again with NO consent) to Doncaster 500 MILES AWAY, we were given no indication of this happening until after the bike was moved and were told if we wanted the bike back we would have to pay the storage costs and for the travel back to Plymouth. From this point onwards we called daily for a progress report , to be told on day one 'it's probably a total loss', on asking who had inspected the vehicle we were advised no one but it looks 'that way' (there was very little visible damage aside from the damaged steering lock, so without inspecting the bike its hard to see how they came to that conclusion). after over A MONTH it was confirmed to be a total loss, but MCE refused to disclose a list of potential repairs until the ombudsman was mentioned, we then received a very repetitive and 'cobbled together' list of repairs; not a headed paper by the garage works list like requested/expected like other insurers. In brief we have been waiting in excess of three months for a written off vehicle claim to be settled and still have no sign of the promised funds; we call daily for an update on the progress to be told various stories by members of staff who just cant wait to get you off the phone. stories such as the manager will release the funds, we require additional documentation, there has been a delay due to the bank holiday, the manager who deals with this is unfortunately unavailable, we'll call you back with an update etc. etc. All of which has still got us no further to having the settlement. On one occasion my partner was verbally abused by a member of staff who to end the call properly. We were made aware by the ombudsman that the underwriters of MCE's policies La Parissienne assurance, were not regulated by the FCA either, which if informed of this the policy never would have been purchased. Its worth being aware that staff seem to have very little product knowledge on the policies they sell, you can call numerous times reference the same issue and receive a multitude of responses. Although a long winded review this is only a BRIEF history of our issues with MCE, we are at present seeking legal advice on the matter. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

My rating is really around the claims handling department. Immensely frustrating process. No updates provided directly by MCE. Almost impossible to make progress with the claim, even on the rare occasion that someone answers the phone. Would not use again even if the price was competitive. Not worth the hassle.
