Months after paying for policy still have not received a copy of policy doc. Have called several times, each time told to check portal in a few days. Last time i chased i was assured a copy would be sent to my e-mail but never received it. I'm surprised i've been asked to review this.

They have a scam going where they charge you £30 missed payment fee when you pay on the day. My son was also experiencing this same scam. They quote cheap so they can hit you with fees to make up they’re money. I wasn’t aware at the time but they also broke. I asked to change the date in which I pay and apparently this isn’t achievable either they must have very basic staff to not be able to change the date or they just aren’t very helpful. I dread to think what they would be like if you ever actually needed them for a claim.

They notified me about a claim that didn’t involve my bike. After I made numerous calls, I managed to contact the third parties representative and together we worked out that the claim was a misread on one digit. MCE didn’t engage with the third parties rep and their response to everything was that it was being dealt with in accordance with their processes. Ask them what their processes are and you won’t get an answer. Their emails and letters were grammatically poor; quite worrying when they can’t even get that right. This company went into administration last year for a reason. Do not take the risk of buying a policy with them just to save a few quid. It’s not worth it.

If you ever need to make a claim, you have to call them on a premium number. I had to call to report my vehicle as stolen, the call lasted 45 minutes, the agent on the phone asked the same questions, or slightly different worded questions on repeat to drag the call on as long as possible. The questions were so incredibly stupid. I told them it was stolen while I was asleep and I only realized when I'd woken up. They asked questions such as "do you know where it is?" "Is it damaged?" "Do you think it's damaged?" "Was I injured in the incident?" "Did I have a passenger?". I had to say "I don't know, I was asleep, it is stolen" at least 20 times. The police have since recovered my vehicle and now I need to call them again regarding the damages. By the time I'm done calling them I will have actually run up a bigger phone bill than the cost of repairing my vehicle. And I'm not exaggerating, the last time I called it cost me £50. After this next phone call I should be on £100, and I assume there will be more calls after. It literally would have been better for me to not even claim.

I honestly do not think my experience with MCE could be any worse. I came off my bike on the 4th of november. No one else was involved as it was due to gravel on the road and it was a quiet road. I put in a claim, took weeks to get back to me about anything. finally collected the bike. then took over 2 weeks to contact me about the bike. They then claimed the bike needed to be written off as there was £3.8k worth of damage to the bike. There is no way there was that much damage and the report they gave me gave no breakdown and even stated thjat the grips and exhaust needed to be replaced. There was ZERO damage to the grips and the exhaust had a tiny scratch that could have happened while backing the bike out of the garage (I have photos of all the damage before it went off). They then brushed aside my request to get a second opinion and refused to look at the value of the bike as they had also under valued it by £1000. They then put it through to an internal investigation which would take 3 days... they did nothing and so it went to their complaints department who said they would need a maximum of 8 weeks to complete their investigation.. I gave then 8 weeks... they then just said sorry we havent completed it yet. So I went to the ombudsman... when then told me they can't do anything as it is with the administrators now. Basically MCE fobbed me off for MONTHS just so that they wouldnt have to deal with me. They STILL have my bike and I still havent even got a pay out. I dont understand how this company can keep going when their underwriters have gone bust and left their customers in such a bad situation. I don't even have anyone to turn to as I have been trying to contact the administartors for 2 weeks and have had nothing back. Going with MCE was the worst decision i have ever made in my life. the fact that they are still trading is a disgrace and frankly an insult.

I bought full compresive insurance, but the website does not work to register, does not work any phone number to contact at MCE - only available MCE live chat, which promises to eliminate within 48 hours, even there the operator disconnects -3 hours of stress and no clarity!

I see plenty of people on here are happy with their cheap MCE insurance and have left a decent review. Oh, how I pity these people when they have to make a claim! If you are thinking about taking a policy with MCE I would highly recommend reading the groups on social media that have been set up by customers. Maybe also reach out to a few motorcycle lawyers and get their opinion of MCE. In fact, talk to anyone who has been riding for a while and you can make up your mind from there. I strongly advise you to do your research before taking out a policy with MCE. The underwriting company in Gibraltar recently went bust, but the UK business is still trading with a new underwriter.

Avoid at all cost. This company went bust & gives you the brush off. Don't part with your hard earned cash, shop elsewhere. Still waiting for my refund weeks & weeks on & you are expected to do all the running & chasing. Be warned. Wish I could give a minus 5 star rating.

During the term MCE were fine. When the related underwriter went into administration and took their cover out initially their comms were good but soon I was inundated with confusing and seeming contradictory emails and texts. Ultimately I had no idea what was going on. Amid all of that they tried to quote me for a new policy. Meanwhile I took one out somewhere else while MCEs messages about my apparent (to them) lack of cover grew not only more frequent but unfriendly and almost threatening. Ive never responded and would never use them again
