How dare you chase me for renewal when we agreed to cancel & you offered me a refund after failing to rescue for 3 days! my vehicle, my 81 year old passenger & a lady with bipolar disorder. I am so angry

I needed to travel to the EU in a few days time. In today's post I got a letter saying I need to give RAC 28 days notice before I can travel to the EU because I needed a "Green Card". Next time tell your customers about this VERY important bit of news sooner. Avoid this company.

RAC increased my premium by over 100% when i needed to change address and remove a driver. No interest in trying to retain my custom. I was able to get a quote via moneysupermarket the same day - for RAC cheaper but that would have meant paying £55 cancellation to RAC only to take another policy with them. Poor customer experience, this company is not to be trusted, poor value for money, profiteering when loyal customers need to change details. Absolute shitebags

Exceeded what I thought customer service was. Genuinely so happy I chose RAC. Being a young female stuck at the side of the road 80 odd miles from home was overwhelming; I was helped by three separate RAC employees today/this evening and I’m so thankful for the way I was treated, and the level of customer service I received was fantastic. Recommend highly ! Only got recovered to my home address about 30 minutes ago but wanted to right a review before going to sleep! Thank you so much RAC.

Please do not use this company for insurance Especially blackbox absolute scammers score drops like crazy for things out of your control, acceleration and braking scoring is extremely sensitive and they will most likely Take your money and cancel your insurance after a couple months ive found it very difficult to improve my score and it kept dropping every day now im with direct line blackbox and noticed the difference on the first drive much easier to keep a good score

I would give the black box less than one star if I could. Its a ridiculous system that brings down your score dramatically even if you break harshly once. After I had realised this was the case, I monitored my acceleration, braking & speed scores and it still wasn't enough. They say they care about safety BUT due to the worry from increasing my score I spent more time looking at my speedometer than the actual ROAD. Its not worth it at all. Pay that little bit extra for NO black box, you'll be a better driver without it. My insurance quote was £1190 for the first year and with a GOOD drivers score (bearing in mind i hadn't driven my car between December and march 2021 as it needed repairs), so the driver score was at 100%, my insurance renewal was £1160. What a joke. Would not go with rac again, scammers.

tried to cancel policy with only 2 months remaining as i had sold the car, £34 per month, but they wanted £55 cancellation fee. Absolute farce. never again, cancelling my breakdown assistance also just on principal.

Avoid like the plague. Unless you trust scammers to help you in the event of a claim. Took out a policy with them after using a price comparison site. After agreeing the price and putting through the payment details we noticed an additional £25 charge. They said this was due to a 'fault claim' showing up on the insurance CUE system. I explained we had not had a claim and they said it wasn't a mistake and that we would have to get proof from our previous insurer Churchill that there was no fault claim. Churchill told us there was indeed no existing or previous fault claim connected and that RAC have been 'misinterpreting the data' - something which Churchill have had many complaints about from customers who had moved to RAC ! I complained as this was definitely fraudulent activity on the part of RAC who agreed to refund the policy and waive any cancellation fee. We then got a letter in the post about the extra charge - which they later explained was automatically generated even though the policy had been cancelled before the date of the letter. We also noted the fee - minus the additional £25 - had been already taken from our account even though the policy was not due to begin for several days. It wasn't an easy process to resolve. They even had the cheek to charge us 15p for the policy on account of the day it was due to commence - had we not already cancelled it. The whole thing is an utter scam. I shall be complaining to the Insurance Ombudsman about this appalling, unethical company.

Be very wary of taking out RAC’s black box insurance. I have been monitoring my driving very closely for the past year via the app and had overall consistently excellent scores and was at a hundred percent for my driving. Now my renewal is approaching, suddenly my scores have plunged right down to below 40%. We are currently in lockdown and I live in a tiny village and only drive very infrequently around my locality. Apparently I’m suddenly accelerating and braking harshly on nearly every journey. I have looked over these journeys and records very closely. This is impossible! I have not changed my driving or my routes in the last few weeks to warrant any of these scores. Appears to me that the sensitivity of my black box has suddenly been significantly heightened. Strange how it conveniently started to malfunction as my renewal draws close. Very suspicious. I will obviously not be renewing with RAC. You’ve lost my trust.

Took out car insurance as it was quite a lot cheaper than Churchill and included extras that they didn't offer. I made sure to email them to tell them not to automatically renew too. However, when I checked my account I found the price had gone up by a little under 20 percent. I queried this and they said the CUE database had shown a Fault Claim from a few years ago. I told them this was a mistake and there was no claim. They said there was no mistake and my previous insurer would have to provide written proof that the claim in question was invalid/not actioned. When I contacted Churchill they explained that not only was the claim in question invalid but that they have had a LOT of issues caused by the RAC trying this on at the moment. The Churchill claims operator explained RAC were interpreting the data relating to the claim incorrectly. This obviously allowed them to raise the price AFTER I'd agreed the policy fee. Fortunately I was within 14 day cooling off period and as I challenged the terms on which the policy was sold the RAC waived the cancellation fee. For a company that has such heritage, this blatant fraud is disgusting and will damage the RAC's reputation. You don't get to be market leaders by cheating your customers! My review rating is for the RAC as a whole. The gentlemen from the RAC who dealt with me on live chat was helpful and cooperative.

My insurance last year was £200. They auto renewed me at £350. I did have a letter but having a nightmare with home schooling a 5 year old and full time job on my own, so it was in my work paperwork pile. I cancelled a couple of days after it had renewed and then charged me the insurance for those two days which is fine, but also £25 fee. They then suggested they could do me a better rate and lied that the £350 was last months price! Renewal prices elsewhere were £180+. I actually went for £220 for a lot more over than the RAC were offering.

renew policy over £200 a year more than others - when I went online to cancel the renewal they forced me to ring them resulting in a long wait (5 mins until I was even put on hold).

Black box scores are not accurate at all your score will drop even when your journeys are shown as perfect, when trying to contact them about the black box on 4 occasions I’ve never had a single response. Poor communication.

I lost £17k with an RAC Car History… I lost £17k with an RAC Car History Check.. Its worthless !! and the treatment I received from the RAC was disgraceful! They had even used a TV personality on their website to advertise the Car Check. It was unauthorised and the TV personality told them to remove it. The vehicle turned out to be a Clone which despite the car check asking you to enter the VIN numbers etc to check it wasnt a clone, in the small print T&C's it does not cover clones. The T&C's link was broken and not available at the time or for months and months after. The trading standards said the Car Check is a worthless product. Many others like me have lost thousands from the RAC Car History Check. Never use the RAC they are a disgraceful outfit !!! They even told the Financial Ombudsman that it wasnt an insurance despite the receipt saying it was an insurance. they claimed they sent the wrong receipt. I hope the RAC go bankrupt during the pandemic.

My advice to anyone thinking of insuring your car with the rac is don’t! I phoned to make an inquiry about my car being fixed after I had an accident (no other car was involved .) I then had my car fixed a few months later when I could afford the access. I informed them about this they gave me a quote then when money came out of my account it had doubled, when I asked why they held against me the inquiry! Now I’m paying double the insurance £136! Disgusting

Well we switched from Hastings who were brilliant to RAC. Having looked around. We put all our data into the comparison web site correctly then a week later received a letter saying we had not declared an accident I caused and they were upping the price from the original quote of £263 by £160. Throwing in "IF YOU DON'T PAY THE THE DEBT COLLECTORS WILL BE ROUND, KNOCK YOUR DOOR DOWN AND YOUR CREDIT SCORE WILL MEAN YOU'LL NEVER BORROW AGAIN DO PAY IT!!!" Asked where they had received this information about me driving and causing an accident well apparently my last insurer Hastings had given it. Spoke to Hastings who said no you weren't driving and the third party admitted liability. So back on the phone to RAC saying Hastings happy to talk to them but apparently RAC don't do that. So we have an open claim with Hastings but as open RAC say they treat all open claims as both parties at fault. When I asked about the return of the £160 RAC said probably well, "Just depends" whether we feel like it or not as we constantly review rates.. So their letter says £55.00 cancellation fee which is illegal of cough up as the DEBT COLLECTORS would be knocking the door down. Then the final stab In the back the gleeful comment "Your policy will go up regardless of fault anyway ". AVOID AT ALL COSTS OR YOUR DOOR MAY BE KNOCKED DOWN BY DEBT COLLECTORS when it's their fault not yours !!! Please God save me from any more "valid" RAC Premium Increases. Have sent the CUE details to try and have the fact I was not driving (shielding) and third party admission but doubt anything will change but I do feel slightly better copying and pasting this to EVERY review website. NEVER, EVER USE RAC !!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you actually train your "Customer Service Advisors" or employ HMP inmates ? HAHA just received a reply from the Cara at the RAC telling me to fill out their complaint form - hmm, as I already have filled it out I can see me doing this everyday - groundhog day again. Why have the RAC been booteed off Feefo ?
