“They told me my book was selected by Books a Million to be used in a charitable event. They had me pay $5000. up front for printing and shipping and told me I would be paid in a few months and would get back money on unsold books. Months and months went by and now none of the people (5) that I had been working with will respond to text, email, or phone. I have not been paid. I am told the company is a scam.”
“I would never recommend them. I hired them to do book marketing and a man names Jason Hawks signed the contract. They have it clear in their contract that If you do not get 250% return on investment they will return the investment money within 2 days. It has been six months and they have not returned my investment or the upcharges they seem to always be asking for. I am almost $9000 lost in my attempt to do business with this company. In the midst of this I received a letter from someone who worked for them warning me this is how they do business. Do not use them or you will lose your money. They did offer me 1/9th of my investment but did not honor their contract. I am having to take legal action to get them to honor their own contract.”
“Terrible… Terrible… Terrible… Talk about bait and switch. They tell you how great they are and then after you sign the contract it’s all downhill from there and they just don’t deliver. I had to fight tooth and nail to get something out of them and their hefty price of $2,500 (to begin) is very steep. Plus, they constantly barrage you with BS upgrades that can cost anywhere from 3k-5k even if you tell them no, they keep pressing. Also, they cannot explain how they will benefit your campaign. Glad I’m done with them.”
“Everything went wrong. I had to correct their grammar, when I submitted my corrections, they were either ignored or partially done and would send me files with more errors. When I asked for information regarding images for my book, I was told the person handling this was on vacation. Is there only one person in the entire office with this information? I was also charged twice for a service, and they refused to refund me the over charge. I could go on and on. I also tried asking for the name of their CEO and the person hung up on me. Any positive reviews for this company have been asked for. Please do not use this company.”
“Complete scam, complete waste of time. Had a deal with them that went down the drain and was wrongfully blamed on me. Am I some sort of door mat? Also, their facebook website claims that they have exactly 4.5k likes out of 4.5k views. Not likely if you ask me. Sounds fake. Coffee shop address. Multiple lawyers and everyone in my family and other friends warning me to stay away from this company and I did not listen to them. Barely got away from Gnome Book Writing. And they write threats to me too such as parts of my story no longer belong to me when I rightfully took back my money after they were proven a fraud by a legal team from a genuine publishing company even bigger than them??? I even got scolded by Gnome Book Writing on multiple occasions and was treated like vermin, especially by my agent.
Also, multiple people have already been calling this company a scam on various sites already and I know I am not alone in this.
Whoever has been receiving good services from Gnome Book Writing have been getting very lucky because I was not one of them. When I tried to get my book published with Gnome Book Writing, the process was so slow that I couldn’t even believe my eyes. And the charges were piling up. Then people started to get suspicious until they had to help me out.
Oh well.
If I could give Gnome Book Writing negative stars I would give them that. The. End.”
“I used them for marketing and had the worst experience ever. It all sounded good at the beginning. They were touting how they will market my book and get me a lot of sales… However, their term 'marketing' is different then what I imagined.
What I thought that I would get would be Ads. What they gave me was a was a FB page advertised in Africa. Yup, Africa, not the US where I live. I did get a lot of likes on my page (5k), but no one was interested. Not one person out of 5k... After I discovered where they were advertising, I complained and they told me my (very expensive) package did not cover marketing in the US or Canada.
After the three months, I asked for a partial return of my money. At first, they agreed to give me 20% back, which was ok, but then they never sent the money and kept telling my it was my bank’s fault. I checked with my bank and they did not make any attempt to send the money, so basically they lied.
After a few more weeks of asking about the refund, they made up a story about the 3rd party company that handled the credit transaction went bankrupt and now they couldn't give me the money. What a joke… They could have easily sent me a check.
They basically said we can't give you the money, but we can offer you another month of marketing. Boy was I excited... The results were the same.
Word of advice. Stay away from Gnome and run your own Ads or use a service that sends out emails.”
