Please do not shop with Go Outdoors, specifically online. The main issue with this company is their online stock count. I purchased 21 items on the 29th of December. The next day, I received a PayPal notification saying I had received a partial refund which amounted to around a third of my order, with no explanation. I emailed the company to ask why and I received a response two days later to say that some of my items were out of stock. A website should automatically update stock count and the company should at least let customers know which items have been refunded immediately so they are able to find the items elsewhere. I went to Twitter as I had another question about my order and wanted a faster response. It was here I noticed that they have hundreds of tweets from people having the same ‘surprise refund’ issue as me. I asked the company if I could cancel or swap an item on my order and was told “we are pretty fast at picking and packing, therefore we cannot make this amend for you” I thought this was fair and my own error so left it at that. Six days after my initial purchase, I email again to say “I am a bit worried my items aren’t going to arrive for my husbands birthday as I have yet to receive a dispatch notice”, only for them to say “I can see your items are still waiting to be picked and packed”. This was frustrating considering what I was told 3 days prior. On the third of January, I receive a PayPal notification to say I had received another partial refund. I enquire to find another item is suddenly out of stock despite making my order six days ago. I finally receive a dispatch notice that my items will be delivered on the 6th of January by DHL. When DHL arrive they only deliver ONE item. I contact DHL and the next day (my husbands birthday) they respond to say they only received one item and I should contact Go Outdoors. Luckily, I check the tracker and apparently I have another delivery arriving on my husbands birthday. When it finally arrives, the box is damaged and inside, all of the items have been thrown in with no packing to protect them. One of the items was a camping lamp which arrived completely smashed in several pieces. I contacted the company to say my order had finally arrived but an item is broken and was told to take it to the nearest Go Outdoors shop for a refund... during lockdown. I’m don’t like negatively reviewing companies online, I work in customer service myself and always prefer when customers complain via email as it’s a final chance for the company to make it up to them before reviewing online. So I emailed the company, said it was a formal complaint and asked for it to be passed to a manager. I outlined my entire experience and received a response from Leon today, who did not apologise once, spent half the email listing the items which were cancelled and refunded (which I was already aware of) and then finished the email by saying if I want to exchange or refund the lamp, I need to go to the shop and if that’s not possible right now, wait until lockdown ends. I am seriously disappointed in this company and would not recommend them to anyone.

Ordered camping bunk beds and two single camp beds online, delivery arrived without the two camp beds, also bunk beds had hole in canvas and one if the holes for a pole was bent. Rang customer services to enquire where the other two beds were and what to do about returning the damaged products, was told that they didn't have any of the camp beds in stock! Told me I had to return the damaged goods to my local shop! Nearest shop is 50 miles away. Dreadful experience.

I rarely buy in their stores as I resent paying for the membership card. It seems a scam that to shop in their stores costs £5 a year. They pressure you into doing this by showing inflated prices for non members and not particularly cheaper prices for members. To avail yourself of the above average lower price you have to be a member. The berghaus jacket in the colour I wanted was £70 in most other stores. Initially I found it for £55 but then at the till it rang up at £88. It tripwires the stock had been hung under the wrong price label. The bored cashier offered no apology and just muttered ‘Do do you want it or not’. The new label advertised it at £88 then club discounted it to £73 with £5 membership taking it back to £78. The store in York is gloomy and dated and staff are few and far between. I only forced myself in their based solely on availability of that one item and my membership will expire before I return. On a side note I find it of concern that so many people take time to leave similar poor experience reviews yet GoOutdoors do not respond to any. If this was my business I would be concerned that people felt so strongly that their experience was so poor and maybe react to some of the negative experiences.

Bought Higear boots 13 months ago from Go Outdoors, Wolverhampton store - sole of one boot came off last Sunday (3/1/21) - complained & was told 12 months was standard returns limit. Only worn boots about 30 times walking about 6 miles each time. Cost per mile more expensive than an Aston Martin. Pathetic. One star too many!! Won't be going again!! Mel Ballard

I joined Go Outdoors and applied for their club card. They took the money and I started shopping. In the first week ordered 5 items, on each occasion they took the money. Then one by one i received order cancellation e mails from them on which the do not state reasons. E mails have been ignored. On ringing i was informed that every item i ordered was out of stock and i would be refunded. This seems strange as the customer card was also 'out of stock'. I am told if i go online and place another order i will get 10% off. But is anything on offer in stock, maybe its just coincidence that everything i ordered including their card is out of stock. I only give 1 star as there is no option for none.

The poole store has got serious security issues, they need to get some tips from Cotswolds who let their loyal customers shop in peace. Instead the assistants at Go outdoors follow you around pick your items up in seconds and take them as if their abandoned its a horrendous experience to shop.

Placed an order checking both items were in stock. Then realised I could just collect from my local store. So went to my local store within 2 hours of the order been placed. The store assistant was very good but even she looked shocked when not only was she told the order could not be changed but management had instructed staff not to issue any refunds until the New Year. (Order placed Boxing day) I rang the online staff myself and was just fobbed off. They claimed they had no means of offering refunds! Really? Since then only one item has been delivered.

Go outdoors was the worst shopping experience ever, you make a purchase, then get followed around every isle by a young assistant! Im 53 years old just paid by card. Then your a suspect its a sad place to shop they obviously need proper security advice as it was a insult to say the least.

I went to your poole shop this evening renewed my membership, them bought a berghaus fleece from £60 to £29. After the purchase i was followed around like a common shoplifter it was an appalling experience 28/12/20, i asked the young gent what time they close, he didn’t know! All he knew was to chase loyal customers from the store like criminals! I cant believe what I endured what a Christmas spirit in ‘ Go outdoors’ folks you couldn’t make this stuff up 😕

Ordered walking boots online, delivery arrived 3 weeks later. However no walking boots in the package they had been swapped for Ski gloves. Customer Service after many attempts have been most unhelpful and expect me to pay the postage to send back the gloves. Awful experience.

DO NOT ORDER FROM GO OUTDOORS! My Go Outdoors order for a MULE hydration pack was cancelled without warning. When I enquired why, Go Outdoors said they had no stock. Strangely the website said they did have the exact same item in stock, but it was now being sold at an increased price. My order was unfulfilled even though I had ordered and paid before the increase in price. TERRIBLE customer service, complaints not dealt with satisfsctorily. DO NO ORDER FRO GO OUTDOORS!!

Appalling. Ordered a bike for my son on the 28.11.2020. Had multiple emails saying it’s been dispatched, even an email to say been delivered about 8 days after, came home to a letter with a £5 membership card I “bought” no bike. Emailed multiple times and had no correspondence, no refund, no communication and £135 down just before Christmas. Last thing I need as a single mum! Not sure what to do, reading the reviews I’m now worried I’ll never receive my money back or the bike.

The Inverness store and Mandy in particular are getting my 5stars. Main office customer services absolutely useless, promise you delivery in 3-5days but of course that never happened!! Numerous phone calls an emails later no sign of my trousers so in desperation I went into my local store where Mandy sorted it out in two minutes!!! Would I order online again? No chance, if it’s not in store I will just find something else.

Placed an order on 28/11/20 and the money left my account on the same date. I haven’t received an order confirmation and I haven’t received my order almost 4 weeks later. I have attempted to contact the company with no success and I now I am extremely concerned that I won’t receive the order in time for Christmas or whether I’ll actually receive it at all! I am furious!
