I had a flat tyre today (Sunday) and requested an engineer to come to my home and put air in tyre so I could drive it. They refused as I did not have a spare tyre. All they could say was to book someone to recover my vehicle and take it to a local garage perhaps tomorrow. I'm an eldery lady (Blue Badge Holder) and do not understand this policy, unfortunately I've already paid upfront for 1 year wish I hadn't bothered.

First call handler got the location wrong. Second call handler, an hour later got the location immediately from the Sam coordinates. Three hours later a truck arrived an announced "I can't look at it, it's not my usual truck and I don't have a touch". Couldn't recover us to our home despite paying for Recovery Plus. Said he would take us to the services to wait for a hire car. Hire company said GF wouldn't pay to get the car to the services. Had to go to their office. Rang GF to sort things out and was told the they had done everything the could and I was free to make alternative arrangements if I liked! Car is still stuck in a yard in Swansea and they can't say when it will be returned "might be 3 to 5 days" is the latest. "We don't have the resources". Keep being put through to 'support' which goes to an answer phone saying they can't take my call. Absolute shambles.

Brilliant broke down last night twice - having had AA previously and been left by them Green Flag was the complete opposite. I couldn't get the app to work but people on phone brilliant. I was a women on my own they get updating me. They tried to get my car working and when it broke down again they sent a recovery van and a taxi. Redhill Rescue contractors were fantastic and stored my car overnight and now are bringing it down to my sisters. Honestly so so glad I got green flag and so affordable and I felt really safe and looked after.

Inept, dreadful, awful - never use them! If Tamin answers the phone, cut the call. Second experience - now even worse. 7 hours on A303, no news on our car. Waited 3 hours - puncture, we told them we had no spare tyre (like most modern cars). They send a man to change the wheel! He said - OH dear no spare! Duh! I ‘ll just get one from our local supplier. We said we have rung them already, they don’t have one. He left. End of…they say another 4 hours for the lorry they knew they should have ordered in the first place. NEVER use them!!!!!!! The second time they have done this with the same car.

Charged £210 by Green Flag despite the fact I said I did not wish to renew the policy. Requested a call back to discuss this but waited more than 1 hour. They must have a lack of staff or a lot of complaints!!

Very poor service. I broke down on the way to an important function and called Greenflag, and was given no options except recovery to a garage in my home town. this invalidated my policy features that secured my ability to get to where I need to be! Very poor service, avoid at all costs.

Two cyclists taking up the complete road as I rounded bend caused me to burst a tyre whilst avoiding them. Green Flag were there within minutes. Will, a very polite, efficient, young man with excellent people skills, had me back on the road in no time. Fabulous service. The same when I’ve used Green Flag before. Well done.

Having to jump through hoops to cancel auto renew is ridiculous in this day and age. You can do most things on their app but not cancel renewal. I sat for an age on the phone trying to cancel my husbands renewal. When I eventually got through, I was told that he had to call to cancel. Called again when he was home and wasn’t asked for him to speak! Never again Greenflag! Making it difficult for your customers is not the way to go.

My car, with two passengers, broke down on the A16 motorway in France on Saturday 3 August. It was finally recovered to a garage in Amiens. To be fair the European agents for Green Flag were reasonably helpful, although they did book us into a hotel for two nights which was 40 kilometers away from our car! However, being a Saturday afternoon all garages were closed by the time we got to Amiens after a fairly frustrating and arduous time. (different story!). The car could not be seen by a garage until the Monday and even then not by the garage we had been recovered to. I was told that my car could not be ready until Wednesday, three days before we were due to start for home. Bearing in mind that we were 650 miles away from our booked destination in the Dordogne I made the decision to continue our journey by train Amiens-Paris-Bordeaux. Fortunately my daughter (who had travelled in her own car) was able to pick us up at the station in Bordeaux so we proceeded on a somewhat foreshortened holiday until Friday 9 August when I returned with my two passengers, again by train, to Amiens to collect the car and drive to the ferry port. Repairs cost over 2000 Euros, which I paid and I accept that the cost of the repair is down to me. However I have now been trying to get some progress on claiming the recovery cost of 286 Euros and the train fares since 14 August. Green Flag are proceeding at a snail's pace, depite my having provided all the requested documentation weeks ago as well as evidence of payment and complaining via their web site on two separate occasions. The latest from them in response to my last complaint is that they are .... " sorry that there’s been a problem. We’ll look into it for you as quickly as possible and be in touch again by 11 October 2024 ". That is, they do not intend to respond either way until two months after my initial claim was made. As quickly as possible? I remain several hundred pounds out of pocket, had a disastrous holiday, spent hours on trains, paid for taxis and hotels over and above that which their agents provided. All when I thought that I had done the right thing by taking out European cover. As an 80 year old, I can do without this sort of hassle and stress and having to juggle my bank accounts to keep them in credit. Will I go with Green Flag when my next renewal comes up? What do you think!

Why do Green Flag refuse to issue a current membership card?

We've had personal Green Flag cover for breakdowns for the last couple of years. We took the policy out with the simple intention to cover both ours cars but were talked into taking personal cover, in case we were driving a friend's vehicle that then broke down (extremely unlikely scenario as we only drive our own cars...) Fast forward to this week, our car breaks down and we need breakdown assistance only to be told our second car wasn't covered due to it now being over 16 years old (by a few months). I feel mistreated and poorly advised as we registered a younger car as our primary one when we took the cover out in 2022, and now 2 years later we have basically paid for a renewal on this year's cover that is not fit for purpose. More than that we don't believe we received the policy documents for the renewal so that we could even have the chance to check the T&Cs and Green Flag says their system doesn't have a record of the documents being sent. Buyer beware if you have older cars, as you may fall into the same trap.

I’m absolutely disgusted with the treatment we’ve received from Greenflag today. We’d just got onto the motorway when we hit a piece of debris in the road. The car dumped all the engine oil, which burnt on the exhaust system and filled the car full of smoke. Our autistic daughter who was in the car with us had a complete meltdown believing the car to be on fire. We pulled onto the hard shoulder and checked the car over. But it was clear it couldn’t be repaired at the side of the road, so we limped it to the services that was less than half a mile away. As we pay for the national recovery option, we called Greenflag to get the car recovered back to home, which was about 5 miles away and they refused to recover the car. I explained to them that we have an autistic child who was extremely distressed in the car and they couldn’t have cared less. They told us that as we’d hit something we’d had an accident and we’d have to deal with our insurance company to get the car recovered. Why pay for the recovery option if they’re just going to wriggle out of helping when they’re needed. I will never use this company again and I’d advised anyone who was thinking of joining them to go elsewhere.

I only got lucky because SIMONCH .COM helped made me realize and also helped me get my money back, so make sure to stay away from this company at all cost. The more they try to sweet talk you with catching profit to make you stay and lose your money to their lies
