After spending 300 pound for a new bike for my son that halfords assembled. My son jumped on and within five minutes the back wheel came off resulting in him going g to AE. After further inspection we realized the front forks were the wrong way round.

Took my car to Halfords Stafford for M.O.T. My car has had a regular service history and was sure it would pass. They failed it on multiple things including the fog light system which they were gonna charge me £400, they then said the breaks needed fixing which would cost me another £700. I told them to just fail it and I would go elsewhere. When I turned up to collect my car 4 of the staff stood at the counter sniggering and I’ve never felt so intimidated in my life. It was so upsetting. I took my car elsewhere and it passed the M.O.T with just a couple of minor issues that were resolved but nothing about the faults that Halfords said they noticed. I will NEVER go back Halfords. How can they treat people like that, a total disgrace!

Booked an MOT online, they then called to cancel it, said they'd refund my payment but never did. So I rebooked with them for another day, they said they'd use the payment they'd never sent back for this appointment. I had my car checked by a master technician before taking it to Halfords, he told me the only thing wrong was the back brakes. Halfords failed the MOT, citing the brakes (as expected), apparently my oil was also pale, overfilled and full of water, plus leaking heavily. They couldn't test the emissions due to the brake problems, as far as I know, if you can't complete the MOT in full, you can't fail the car, all you can say is it can't be MOT'd at all, but I digress... Was told it would cost £3-500 to fix the back brakes, that they'd need to take the back end of the car apart to find the fault and with it being an old car they probably wouldn't be able to put it back together. They said the cost of the repairs would be more than my car is worth, hinting that I should scrap it. My husband is a mechanic, he called them and suddenly they're saying oh yeah it's an easy fix really, just back brakes and drums etc etc. Whereas to me it seemed a lost cause. I decided to have it towed home and have my husband do the work, once I said this, the woman on the phone became short with me, ringing me up asking for payment, which had already been agreed, and giving me one word answers. When the car came home, the battery was dead, odd for a car that's never once failed to start. The 'pale, watery oil' is black as ink and between min and max on the dipstick, the excessive oil leak is a small drip, nothing like the pooling river it was made out to be. And the parts to repair everything amount to £100. Big price difference there if you do it yourself! The tow guy said they probably saw my car, 19 years old with very low mileage and a solid engine, thought they'd exaggerate the faults so I'd think its too much hassle, then they could have taken it as scrap, MOT'd it and sold it for a profit. I don't know how true this is, but it's definitely suspicious. I'll take it somewhere else for the retest.

Just been to halfords autocenter Sunderland for my M.O.T. Failed due to cut which is not actually cut but small and fine cracks. It also failed on engine oil leak which is oil from recent oil service which settled on the shield underneath. Crooked and dishonest business. Avoid and never look back!!

Brakes didn't work after MOT work, didn't touch the brakes, apparently ? because the mechanic advised when they carry out MOT the brakes do not get touched -- how did they know and repair my brake light if the brakes where not touched. nearly crashed on the way home, Used Halfords before , never had any problems, they wont be receiving my custom again. Made a complaint - was advised the brakes failed due to wear and tear? and could of gone any time, but 4 males came to pick up my car- one said not surprised brakes dont work the pipe has not been put back on!

Took out a service plan @ Halford's (Blackburn branch) I am going to cancel it when the bank is open. After being told I need a number to use my plan I took my plan with me when I went to pick it up (as they tried to charge me again) and was told again I need a number, eventually they agreed I had a plan. I drove my car home and noticed the external temperature reading was stuck at 36 degrees and a few weeks later lots of alarms on the dash board came up, so I took the car back and after charging me £49 to plug their computer in, they told me it was some water in the electrics, soon the alarms came up again but this time the car would not drive so I had to call the AA out who got it running again so I could drive it home, I took it back to Halfords who wanted to charge me £49 again to find the fault they either caused in the first place or failed to fix, so after telling me they would not charge me I got a taxi home so they could have a look at it again, after 2 hours they rang me up to tell me I could pick my car up and to take my car to a auto electrician as they won't be able to fix it.

Booked my car in for a service at the cost of £199, recieved a call stating my car needed balancing, totally cost £250, the car had previously been serviced 3000miles previous. After the car was collected it was making a squeeking noise when going over speed bumps, a noise it wasnt making before, the noise began to get louder and a then a knocking noise began when steering, so we book the car in with them again for a check, the machanic had the car for 3 hrs and said they could find anything wrong, but checked the suspension and car was machanically fine, advised to bring it back when they would have time to look again. Unimpressed i agreed and returned the car 2 days later, i was then told it was my suspension top mounts, and i needed new tyres the quote was in excess of £400. So we took it to another garage for a second opinion, who advised us our top mounts were fine and tyres still had plenty of life, the car had not been properly balanced and the air filter had not been correctly reattached when it was serviced. They told me that the shock absorbers needed replacing which was the first thing they noticed and very obvious they were unsure how this was missed by the 4 machanics at helfords, they also advised the noise was unrelated to that and not something they would expect from a car with 44k on the clock. They are now having to do a extensive check to find the problem, that was not a issue till halfords got their hands on it.

I phoned Halfords autocentre to see if it was okay to get my car battery checked. The following morning was confirmed as fine. Upon arrival I asked how long it would take. Halfords said 1 hour. I walked home. Most of the morning was spent chasing up this simple procedure via phone, which is very poor. Around 1pm Halfords still had not phoned me so I phoned them. Halfords told me I needed a new alternator. I asked how much? They said they would find out. Surprise, surprise I had to chase this up as well. At around 1530 hours I phoned again, they said the car was ready for collection. A little confused I said you have not quoted me a price for a new alternator nor have you told me you cannot undertake the work today. I urgently needed the car the following day, which caused a massive inconvenience before the Easter holidays had started. I went to collect the car around 1630 hours and was quoted over £600 to replace the alternator. I said I would think about it, but I had already made up my mind not to let Halfords proceed any further. For a comparison I was quoted £400 including VAT from another local garage. The car was subsequently taken to another garage as I was not convinced of Halfords findings. This garage was completely in a different league in terms of professionalism. The car was booked in properly. A parasitic drain test was performed along with diagnostics etc. It was concluded there was no issue with the alternator or car. The garage informed me that Halfords had fitted a poor branded/quality battery several weeks ago and that one of the positive terminals was loose. This should have been tight and was most likely the cause the issue. The car battery was fully charged and the terminal replaced at a cost of £37. This really frustrated me that Halfords were trying to charge for work that did not need to be undertaken. In the future I would avoid Halfords autocentre at all costs and use a more trustworthy and helpful establishment. Halfords autocentre is too profit driven and they lack customer service skills. As soon as a fault is found they try and charge you for it rather than examine and investigate the root cause of an issue, which is poor workmanship. I am very shocked by this experience and I wish these companies were investigated fully so other innocent individuals are not handing over there hard earned money to what I perceive as a very fraudulent profit driven company. I would hate to think based on this experience and past I have had with this company how much they have taken out of the pockets of vulnerable individuals. My wife and I will not be using them again and they will 100% not be recommended to anyone that I know. AVOID

service at Withe City in Manchester is an absolute and extreme jockeys with a client. I do not know if the service does not understand English or what it does? The sales system is a mockery. Get information: Your Halfords order no. 2101705829 is ready. Please visit our White City store to collect it. We are going to hold your items in 7 days .... Withe City informs me that this is an information about resignation. Two days the same situation. It will describe it on social media. Never again Halfords. NEVER!

Absolute disgrace of a service and aftercare. Cancelled mot at 8.55 am on a Friday morning when my van was due in at 9 am. No management to speak to and no phone calls after. Email to them was also blanked. Don't go near them.

took my car in for interim service and mot - cost £144 - maybe its me being naïve but all they do on a service is change oil and filter everything else on 46 point service is recommendation and will cost extra eg replace coolant, renew pollen filter, oil system flush etc - will only ask for oil and filter change next time - excluding mot this check probably cost £100

The Halfords I use is along Victoria road Fenton stoke on trent. I would not take my car anywhere else. Matthew and Gary are very helpful their customer service is second to none. If I need any advice or if anything needs doing to my car (normally mot and service) I know I can trust these guys and the team I know that I won't be ripped off at all. I have had other work done on my car and have had no problems at all.

Booked in to get rear brake pads replaced (recommended by Halfords when I had my MOT there), they said it would take 2 hours, rang after 5 hours, wrong pads were delivered (seems like the same excuse each time I take my car there), they have them now so will take an hour, 2 hours later collected my car, then told it took so long because brakes had ceased (Hmm?), 7 hours in total to replace the pads, no apology, said i would need to return for clips on the rear calipers to be put on? On the invoice spelt my name wrong even though I have been a customer of theirs for the past 5 years.

As a mechanic I checked my partners car for its MOT, the rear tyres were getting close to the minimum of 1.6mm but still above and legal. She submitted her car to Halfords Ayr for test - Failed on both rear tyres and had 6 advisory items. We complained to DVSA who called the car in to check the items - Failure items overruled as the tyres were ok and 4 advisory items removed. Halfords were trying to rip the customer off for the sale of tyres, corroded springs and exhaust. Contacted Halfords customer services to complain and never received an apology ! Just told that it was the testers discretion to fail for tyres. Not the case as tyre tread depth is measurable so they either pass if above 1.6mm and fail at 1.6mm or below. They will never see my custom again.
