Just been to the free Halfords road safety check! It again proved free things are not always good. From the time I arrived, it seemed that, staff don’t really bother. giving a feeling, ohh that’s another one came for free!! Question why are u doing it after all? One of the staff member said it might take couple of hours, then on asking the manager, he said to wait. One mechanic took the car inside and literally after 10 mins gave me back the car. I know there was no maintenance to be done, but atleast a report!!!!! And may be I am wrong, a road safety check in 10 minutes??? Terrible!!!!

Totally great service, brilliant price and they got me in for new tyres the same day at very short notice , like a few hours. Kev and the lads were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Thanks again for the great service and customer experience.

I booked in with Halfords to change my tyres but I am extremely disgusted how Halford mechanic’s went inside my car and stole money and a bottle of drink. I am furious to why any of the workers would steal from customers working for a very high standard car shop. This is Halford, Oldham! This is very un professional and a act of crime, I will be visiting the store to put a formal complaint.

Fab service today at Runcorn Autocentre by Sam. Super helpful, great customer experience, easy service, lovely 😊 personality (which seems hard to come by these days), even when I only needed a fuse change. He even did my tyres as the warning light had come on today to say one was under inflated. They’ll definitely be getting my mot and service business come September! What a breath of fresh air!

I’ve just had an awful experience at Chesterfield Halfords picking up a bike that I’d spent £300 on. I had to wait twenty five minutes to be served, the store wasn’t busy and numerous customers who arrived were served before me. I waited in the zone I was told to which was by the store room. During this time numerous staff, at least ten, walked past me and didn’t talk to me, some repeatedly. Some of the staff had cups of tea in their hands. After about 15 minutes the store manager asked someone to serve me. This person said ok and then finished serving someone and started serving someone else. A man in an orange jacket eventually walked past. I asked him if he was in charge and he said no, I asked him if someone could serve me and he went to find someone. The store manager then came in and asked if I was being served. I said I hadn’t and that this was the worst customer service I had ever experienced. He then walked off, later claiming I had been aggressive, which I completely disagree with. Eventually I was served which was at least half an hour after I entered the shop which the manager said was very busy but I counted about ten people that had been served since I arrived and at least eight staff. As I was leaving I asked the manager outside if he was in charge and what his name was, he then told me his name and that he was the manager. He said he walked off from me because I was being aggressive. Something that he seemed to focus on a lot, as though this was the reason he could be rude and dismissive to me. I told him I’d spent £300, at which point he said I could have my money back. The bike is a birthday present for my son and he seemed to enjoy the fact that I didn’t take him up on this as though he had won. He smirked at me and said that the conversation was over. He told me to look on google as they had excellent reviews. He said he had witnesses to me being aggressive, as though he had his story sorted already if I complained. He also accused me of talking down to people because they work in shops, something I wholeheartedly disagree with and find offensive. He said that his staff were stressed and had been working flat out seven days a week during the crisis as though that was his reason for being rude to me. He felt pleased that he’d won the argument and content that he had caused me so much stress and unnecessary discomfort. This is my first experience of gaslighting and I have to say it was an unpleasent one. I will openly admit that the manager won the argument and I don’t particularly want to go back there.

Failed MOT. Partner and friend in the industry said it could of been an advisory. Thought I'd take advantage of the Bluelight NHS discount. Big mistake. Car has passed in the last 6 years using elsewhere. Definitely won't recommend and wont be using again.

book a Mot test , past all years i have clean Mot i always precheck before mot to make sure everything in good order to have clean history for car . its 2015 mercedes E250 AMG, not a single problem in car very well maintain. i have change all four tyres, pre inspected by Local licensing Fitness test garage too. not a single fault came but when i took it to garage same day guys was weird and kind came in impression that dont be too confidence it will fail. i said hope not lets see. in order to prove his point he failed me on headlamp aim of too low then also passed me within minutes too. now mind you this model vehicle got auto adjust sensor on headlamp. and last time i drove the car too on auto headlight it wasnt low at all to count dangerous, plus all sensor working fine avoiding front vehicle, once front vehicle move away adjust back to full beam and all. plus on morning local council fitness test done for he didnt fault at all. surely if it was dangerous then he would have caught it and informed me. local council garage test was done at 9.30am and 1 and half hour later he failed me on this saying major defects. i have report to DVSA and i also report to local council. and i will do everything for ruining my clean car history over a proving point. i will not let it go easy. once mot complete normaly they call to let you know its ready to pick up but i didnt recieved a call even though test is finish and mot tester guy sitting on chair completly free. Guys please avoid this garage i have also notice other people had faced similar issue.

We booked online for a service Feltham Autocentres , paid 229 upfront dropped the car at 8.30am. They called us after a few hours to tell us they “found things” .. 2 front tyres had cracks , pollen filters , brake pads and disks needed .... Quoted plus 1000 to which my husband said no way , refused the tyres , my husband is a mechanic he told them he could get tyres cheaper and do it himself. So they quoted about £250 for pollen filters and All round brake pads and disks , we agreed for them to do it. It took the whole day until just before 5pm in a Saturday for them to call us , we get there and were shocked to be told our bill is £800 to which my husband flatly refused saying that was not the price he agreed to on the phone. The manager was very rude and aggressive and at one point told us if we can’t afford it then we can agree a monthly plan, ha ha jokes. Police told us it’s a civil matter they can’t help but gave us some advice. Halfords told us the calls are recorded so we said yes go ahead pull the recording , prove us wrong. Oh no they says, the recording can only be retrieved on Monday. My husband told them , ok then remove those parts and put the old parts back , “oh no we can only do that on Monday” so now we have no car for the rest of the week end since we are not agreeing to pay £809 for something we did not agree to , we must wait until Monday. I believe the guy who spoke to my husband may have made a mistake .. on the other hand we bought our car in November , second have , 2016 Mercedes amp , we haven’t used it much in the 3 months since Covid and now I am even suspecting that perhaps the brake pads may not have even been worn ...... come Monday we will ask them to put the parts back and my husband will check for himself. In hind sight my husband could have done it himself but he’s tired and busy so we thought Halfords is reputable let’s just pay the £229 for the service. We will insist on listening to the recording for peace of mind. We will never deal with Halfords again , ever !!!!!

Had m.o.t failed due to brake imbalance but Iv been offered new brakes for £300. Obviously I had doubts so I took the car to another garage and the car has passed its m.o.t with no advisories (Halfords had 5 advisories and a dangerous defect) . Dodgy and won’t be using again

I took my car in for a service and was then quote over £1200 for ‘repairs that needed doing’ seeing as the car had a health check at another garage not so long ago and everything was fine they can jog on. I won’t be using them again and won’t recommend them. Plus it cost £31 for a puncture repair and light bulb change and that was with AA discount!

Halford service centre, If there was a zero that’s what you would receive. Halfords repaired car as the engineer light came on £1500 it cost the light did not come off, went back to resolve the problem as it they said it needed a sensor another £1000 still not off and they are not taking responsibility. We have emailed, phone till this day have received a call back we are in June. There fix my arm legs in my car in December went to get new tyre fitted at a tyre shop and there said the car needs arm legs again. This was done By so call Halford in December 19 and in June it needs doing again. There are a rip off. I believe the ombudsman should look into this company.

My son took his car to Halfords Harrogate, whas charged an extortionate price for Brake disks and tyres fitting , They also said for it to pass its MOT it would need 2 rear New springs and 2 Shock absorbers as they were leaking oil shock absorbers as they were leaking oil , Took the car to another garage or showed me there was no fluid leaking at all from the shock absorbers and they were absolutely fine, the car passed the MOT with no advisories.

I have had an issue both in service and in a lack of customer care. I spent £1300 having a service, mot and parts replaced that I had previously been told had 'plenty of miles' in them, then had my car returned with a broken shock absorber that Halfords are neither taking ownership of nor are they dealing with the matter with care and due time.. I complained about the service at the start of April, I have emailed, tried calling, left voicemails... I'm still waiting to hear from Halfords autocentre.. it's now mid June. Won't ever use this service again. Avoid.

Booked my car in at the York Autocentre yesterday morning for 8.00am as the engine kept cutting out and with a jerking movement. At 8.40am the fault was diagnosed and after a telephone call from a very helpful gentleman called Eric advising me what the diagnostic test had revealed and the total cost to fix it, I confirmed the work to go ahead and by 11.00am parts were fitted and the car is now back on the road. Five star service and will definately use again. Thanks Halfords and thanks Eric.

I paid £49.99 for a warranty diagnostic from Halfords in Bournemouth which I was then advised by AUTOPROTECT was not sufficiently detailed enough to cover the warranty. Halfords however advised that AUTOPROTECT didn't question their diagnostic report. AUTOPROTECT and HALFORDS AUTOCENTRES are meant to be experienced business partners providing diagnostic and repairs covered under the warranty but this certainly does not seem to be the case and I am sceptical about this whole process.
