I bought a pair of Ethan shoes size 11 having bought a number of different Hotter shoes over the years, all of which fitted perfectly. But these were far too tight and unwearable. So that's a warning. I was disappointed with the unimaginative customer service which would not allow me to return them outside the 30 day period. Previously Hotter delivered to EU where I am and this time I had to have them delivered to someone in the UK to bring them to me. By the time they managed this the period was over. I wrote to ask if they would extend the period, not just to return them, but I would then try an alternative shoe instead. They simply quoted their contract terms and refused. This seems a pretty shortsighted approach from a company working its way out of financial difficulties and especially disappointing for a long term and hitherto satisfied (now former) customer.

I bought a pair of Jasmine boots. The right one has a fault - the leather piece inside covering the zip is faulty. Instead of being in one continuous strip (like the other side) it is in two parts - the bottom piece folds back & exposes the base of the metal zip. This zip then rubs against the foot making the boots painful to wear. I phoned Hotter but they could not help me because I didn’t buy direct from them. But these boots were made by them in their factory so don’t they bear some responsibility? No. I advise a close inspection of the insert leather covering side zips. I have no record of where I bought them as it was in the autumn & I’ve only just started to wear them. I love Hotter shoes but I now distrust the workmanship and will be very cautious of buying any more hotter shoes.

Following a very abrupt and unsatisfactory telephone call today with a member of yr team I am disgusted to hear you are returning the shoes as apparently there is evidence they have been worn! They have not been worn out of the house as my Granny is 96 years old and unable to leave her carpeted home! She did try them on and found them to be too heavy and more likely to make her fall , which is something she absolutely has to avoid at her age! Yr member of staff refused to send images of the supposed evidence! I said I had checked the shoes before posting them back and there were NO signs of wear . I feel that this is appalling customer service and will be escalating this for further action! If you tried a pair of shoes on in a shop there is potentially signs of wear but these would still be sold on ! It would appear that looking at similar reviews this is a common problem and will be looking for complete resolution! Will continue to obtain full refund and cost of postage

Ordered online, boots very painful trying them on so returned. Thing is, Hotter break the law by not refunding original postage costs. Quite aggressive & sarcastic reply to my email about it, told me that I had to write to them to cancel the order within 14 days to get my postage refund. This simply is not true, all distance selling should have a refund of original postage regardless of notice. With the cost of postage to me, then the cost of posting them back, it costs the consumer around £7 just to try on a pair of shoes. Where is the incentive? None from me and will never order from them again - very short sighted as well as illegal by Hotter.

DREADFUL DREADFUL company AVOID at all costs I would have left NO STARS rip off Company I ordered a pair of boots paid postage arrived too narrow sent back had an email saying was processing refund after 10 days phoned to find out where my refund was! Was told oh we have put it through it is up to the Finance Department to arrange this now! So probably wont be getting back for at least another 5-7 days. Got refund eventually only to find it was £2.95 short phoned was told oh you have to pay to return the item too. So not only do you pay for delivery but if you don't like it or it doesn't fit you have to pay to send it back so nearly £7 in postage RIP OFF COMPANY WITH DREADFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE AVOID AVOID

In today’s world of online shopping Hotters refund process is totally unacceptable. I’ve waited the 14 days for £180 and still nothing. If other companies can issue refunds in a timely manner then why can’t hotter. Really will make me think before ordering again. Very very disaffected

I have some ten pairs of Hotter shoes and boots, some of which I’ve been wearing almost daily for many years. They are supremely comfortable, very well made, and have lasted longer than just about anything except LL Beans gum shoes. I am very sad to hear they have been taken over by someone else. They are my all time favorites.

Ordered 3 pairs of shoes at a cost of $70. They never arrived. A week later a package arrived with 2 fake rings in it. The rings were stated on the package of having a value of $3. When I contacted customer services to enquire about the shoes they said the order had been delivered and gave me a shipping number. This was the same number that was on the package containing the rings. I have asked repeatedly for a full refund. They have replied saying they are sorry I am not happy, it will cost me $50 to return the rings. They cannot issue a full refund because the package was delivered. They have offered to refund 15% of the amount paid. There is no sign of the original order of the shoes being sent. This is obviously a SCAM. Somehow the web site has been taken over and the scam is to send a worthless shipment to the mailing address and pocket the money. All I can say is BEWARE ordering shoes off this website.

My email to Hotter: Some years ago, I was in the habit of buying your shoes on a regular basis, my favourite style being Click. At one point, I bought several pairs at once - it appeared that the style was being discontinued, so I bought them for future use. I wore all but two pairs, which have been kept, off the floor, in my bedroom ever since. Yesterday, I decided to start wearing them and put a pair on (this pair I had worn once or twice before in the house). I started moving around inside the house and very soon wondered why one shoe suddenly felt very odd. Upon inspection, I found that a large lump of the heel had simply fallen off. As I examined the shoes in disbelief, the soles just continued to disintegrate, leaving crumbs of what appeared to be some sort of foam material everywhere. I handled the shoes very carefully as I saw what was happening. As you will see from the attached photos (brown pair), the shoes are in otherwise excellent condition and it is infuriating that I cannot wear them - it is a total waste of a perfectly good pair of shoes, which are effectively unworn. This all happened, fortunately, before I went out, so I fetched the other pair of Click shoes I had kept and they were better - they had a sole made from a different material - but still showed signs of disintegration. They clearly will not last long at all. (The black pair in the photos). I find it incredible that a reputable company such as Hotter could have sold shoes made from such inferior materials - in fact these shoes were clearly not at all fit for purpose. I am aware that these shoes were bought some years ago, but that is no reason for them to disintegrate! That is simply not acceptable - I paid for them, but I cannot wear them, due to Hotter's negligence. I would be very interested to hear what you have to say for yourselves, and obviously I require some recompense for the shoes. I am not interested in vouchers or credit, as I no longer find Hotter shoes attractive and therefore do not buy them. Hotter's reply: We do have to take the age into consideration; in addition, long term storage and infrequent wear may be contributing factors to the issues encountered with the soles. However, we do not expect this type of issue to occur. We thank you for your feedback and deeply apologise for the inconvenience caused. In the years since your product was manufactured, we have, through natural production processes, modified the materials we now use. We can assure you that this type of incident should not arise in our more recently produced products and we sincerely hope this will restore your faith in us and not deter you from choosing Hotter in the future. As a gesture of goodwill, please accept a £15.00 credit added to your mail order account from us to put towards your next purchase. This amount can be used against any future purchase and has no expiry date. Please confirm if you would like to accept this credit and we will apply it to the account. Again, we deeply apologise for this issue and look forward to hearing from you. i.e. exactly word for word the same as to another complainant. I argued with their ridiculous "justification", but Hotter are not in the slightest interested in their customers, or evidently in the quality of their products, and refused any reasonable response. Rubbish shoes, rubbish company. Not surprised went bust.

I recently bought 2 pair of shoes and 2 pair of sandals from Hotter, returned 2 pairs and kept 2. Hotter took ages to issue the refund and I had to email them in the end asking for it. Over the years, I bought quite a few of Hotter shoes because they were made in the UK and they were of good quality. The pair of sandals I bought last time started to cut into my toes after wearing once in town. I wore them once more to see if they would get any better but they became worse. I realised the straps were in the wrong place, not made with good quality material and there was not enough padding to make the straps softer. My husband then looked at the box and we noticed the sandals were made in China. This was new to me but it didn't surprise us seeing how the sandals were. I raised a complaint and Hotter said they would inspect the sandals. They have just called me and I expected them to possibly argue that I was wrong but they simply said "We are not issuing you a refund because the shoes are worn." I said to them "So, when I buy a fridge and it turns out it is not fit for purpose, do I not have a right to return it because it has been used?" At this point, it is very clear Hotter do not care about customer service, refunds and ignore your statutory rights. If something goes wrong, you will not get your money back. The person I spoke to totally ignored my statutory rights, kept saying the shoes are worn. The law says when you return a product it needs to be in new condition. This only applies when you change your mind about a product. But when an item is not made good, it is faulty or it is not fit for purpose, you can return a used product including shoes and this is called statutory rights. Hotter probably knows this better than me but it is clear they are in financial difficulty but by being the way they are now, it is only going to get worse.

Hotter Shoes extensively advertising, knowing full well they were going into administration and would not be refunding returns. Fraudent activity but this is okay to do to people, especially with everyone struggling financially right now. Absolutely wrong on every level. Never, ever will I buy from Hotter again. So for the sake of the new owners refunding people, I hope hey lose business from those who have been ripped off.

They are not honouring cash refunds. I returned shoes and had confirmation they are been received back at the warehouse on 6th July 2023. A month later they have confirmed that they will not honour a cash refund. They only offer a credit note - in a company where quality, service and returns policy have become unreliable ?!. I have numerous pairs of Hotter shoes bought in the past - they used to be good but now I DO NOT RECOMMEND them to anyone.

Company has changed hands, delay on despatching items but customers not informed. Payment still taken days before items despatched. Customer Services say it's not possible to let customers know about the back log . . . until you phone them to chase your order. My parcel will eventually be delivered when there will be no one available to sign for it. As the parcel hadn't been dispatched when I phoned, i asked for the delivery address to be changed but apparently not possible!

I have five pairs of hotter shoes and I can honestly say they are the best shoes I have ever had. I have problems with shoes as I have wide feet and these fit like a glove. As for the soles I have had no bother with them. My daughter wears hotter boots for hiking miles and running and they lasted her a long time. I, for one, will only be buying hotter shoes.

I returned four pairs of shoes to Hotter via Royal Mail. I have waited the fourteen days as stated for my refund but despite two telephone calls to Customer Services I still have not received my refund and I was told to ring again next week. Apparently there is a delay and everyone is working really hard (from home no doubt as the assistant I have just spoken to had her television on so loud I could hardly hear her) Not very professional and certainly not helping the reputation of Hotter.

I have had to throw out about a dozen Hotter shoes over the past few years as the soles were breaking up and were literally falling to pieces. The uppers were perfect as none of the shoes had been worn much. I have complained to Hotter and sent pictures but they insist there is nothing wrong with their manufacture of the soles. Hotter shoes and sandals suit my feet but extremely disappointed with the soles. No pictures currently available

pair of boots that did not fit properly, too narrow and boot cut into calf, too high for me. I have tried the returns process on their website, since end of January. I finally called them to get a retun label and they told me that their computer system for returns is not working at this time, that they are waiving the 30 day time limit for my return due to their computer issue. I called a second time a week later. Still same excuse. I sent an email through their portal and got the same canned response in the email. It's been almost a month of trying to navigate their return process. Never again will I purchase any products.

Have just received a pair of shake shoes with a wonderful reduction from £69 to £29 the trouble is they are so inferior to any hotter shoe I have had before, I have ms so it is essential I have comfortable shoes and have had hotter for over 20 years and been thrilled with them. The inner sole is very thin also the strap is nowhere near as sturdy as my other shake shoes ,the stitching is also faulty. When you buy things in the sale you expect the same standard.
