“Agreed with other reviewers: It's a nearly perfect kit. Everything went fine, but the adhesive strips should be bagged instead of floating around inside the box. My pixel 4a was bricked by Google. The new battery is way better than my old one (even before the software-update-of-death). I'm getting multiple days of light use from my first few charges after the replacement.”
“This is my second battery. The first started to swell up after 2 years of storage and only 2 charge cycles in a computer that is a backup to another computer maintained to run special, very old software. This new battery had an issue that the mounting holes did not line up with the screw holes in my computer. Made putting in the right most screw nearly impossible. You will need to increase the hole size slightly by drilling it out to get the screw in. If you are going to store the computer for long times, leave a charge that is less than 50% and check the charge and computer every month without fail to maintain the battery. If a battery goes dead flat, it may not recover... I wonder if these batteries are freshly made or years old.”
“I like the fact that you have this service but I ordered back cover gaskets because you stated they were Samsung parts but when you shipped them you folded them not a good Idea since the gasket will not sit flat without resetting it. Should have not folded the gasket.”
“Using parts, tool kit, and instructions provided by ifFixit, I successfully replaced the battery on my iPhone X. Kit came with everything needed and the instructions were step by step. Allow about 2 hours to do the job and take your time. Highly recommend! Thanks ifixit!”
“The complexity of the repair was mostly to keep track of the myriad screws involved in stripping out nearly everything. I still have one screw "extra" and can't find where it goes. The video had colored circles around the screws to aid recognition, but the colors weren't consistent so no way to keep them properly separated. Also a number of suggestions at the end to avoid removal would have been better read in the beginning. Still haven't connected the battery and buttoned everything up but hope to have a functional machine soon. (Aso found that the right speaker cable popped off the mainboard and am trying to reattach it, but about to give up because the left speaker should be enough.)”
“My Lenovo Yoga C930 laptop became suddenly unusably slow, and after a month of troubleshooting with software, I was looking into a replacement on iFixit. Couldn't find the model of laptop I have, so decided to try a new battery/charging cord first and I'm very glad that I did! I am not very tech-savvy and was overwhelmed by the idea of tinkering with my hardware, but the toolkit and comments in the picture guide for battery replacement helped. I did end up finding a video online because I needed to see more detail since I was nervous about how much force to use in getting things apart, but iFixit definitely gave me the confidence to do something new that I would have not otherwise had access to do.
I'm still no whiz, but knowing that this site and community of people with shared values exists is a reassurance.”
