This auction house sells dangerous goods, it hides behind the banner of you should inspect. NO. No one should be allowed to sell goods that endangers lives. If there is not a law against this then there should be. Bought 3 electrical items, 2 I rapidly unplugged due to smell of burning and third had so many wires showing , didn't dare plug in. Do not buy electrical items from John Pye.

Invoice number is 100266 / EDIN505_SR24_CNC. I bought and paid 117.12 pounds for an Electric cooker Ceramic Hob, transport does not make anything clear, when I claim the order, they answered I have to go 220 miles to pick it up, I said I will pay for the transport so that I can send it or cancel the purchase, they answered They cannot do it and they cannot cancel the purchase either, they are scammers from the first time, I will do it I have to do it legally, careful careful they are scammers

The company are deceptive, they hide under the disguise of an auction house with crafty terms and conditions to milk innocent people off their hard earned money. I bought items from them running into hundreds of pounds. These items end up being worthless . Never patronise them.

I paid €360 for a john lewis garden table and 4 chairs would of been good value as its £890 if direct from john lewis hired a van to collect it and travelled the 90 miles to the main yard in marchington now run ups bill with fuel near to £500 but still a good buy had paid on line so went to load up had a massive argument as the table only had 3 legs the 4th was now broken off and as it was metal could not be fixed the photo did not show it broken so annoyed I put the table in there skip as pointless argument with idiots and just took the chairs guess what 2 weeks later the same table without the chairs was back in full photo on there site with it propted up and photos not showing the damage bid was sold at £180 so not only do they sell damaged stuff they dont photo the damage and now sold my table again that is robbery and that old man with the big car you should be ashamed no excuses you deserve to go out of buisness and I hope I dont bump into you as I will make my self known read this and dont buy anything from these crooks I earn £9 per hour and have been robbed

Have you ever had an interaction with a company where you come away flabbergasted at how they have a business? Where you wonder who is it that is ever using the company for more than one transaction? That is my experience with John Pye. I got the auction bug and started bidding on stuff, half of which I wanted, half I thought I could resell for a profit on eBay. Of course, it states clearly that the items are returns/seized etc. So you are buying with some risk in mind. What I didn't expect was that the VAST MAJORITY of electrical items I bought would be faulty. In fact, out of almost £2,000 spent and around 40 items I literally only have a handful of items that aren't faulty. But that is not the worst part. The worst part was that several of the items I bought just didn't turn up. In one instance it was just missing from the delivery and in the other two boxes arrived empty. Like, literally empty.. I contacted John Pye and, of course, getting in touch with them is extremely difficult. Despite putting an email address of their website it isn't monitored. You'll just get an automated reply saying to fill in a form. Upon informing John Pye of the missing items I was offered a replacement. This wouldn't be so bad if it was a like for like replacement. However, the £180 4k Webcam that came in an empty box was offered to be replaced by one that costs £40 on Amazon, likewise the £50 missing mouse was offered a replacement of a £10 mouse. I opted for a refund, but of course, nothing happened. Keep in mind at by this point we are already weeks into a process of trying to resolve the issue, the person who offered the refund didn't keep to his word of emailing me the offer and it took another few weeks to get the refund to my bank after several stupid excuses, such as the bank details being wrong (they weren't) and it needing to be sent to 'head office' to process where they only process refunds twice a week. My favourite excuse was that I hadn't given my middle name and therefore the payment had failed (complete nonsense). The other item (from a different location) that didn't turn went through a whole saga of apparently checking camera footage to see what happened to the item. At the time I thought this was a good thing. It would show that my item wasn't packaged with the other items. Of course, now I know this was just part of John Pye's classic stalling technique. Maybe other customers give up? So, if you are looking at John Pye's auctions and fancying some of the items for yourself or to resell my advice is do not touch them with a bargepole.. I tried to sell some of the items I thought weren't faulty on eBay only to get refund requests as they did turn out to be faulty or missing parts. Avoid!

BEWARE I would like to go lower than 1 star but cant. They describe an item incorrectly take your money and then refuse to do anything saying that its the buyers responsibility to check. All they say is that they are an auction house not a retail shop and that its your job to check the description is correct.

These cowboys will sell you items with the most basic parts missing. The extent of their involvement seeming to be to see if an item powers on or not, not whether any human can actually make use of it. They also turn up with what looks like severe transport damage or at least damage that wasn't shown in pictures/description on their website (so good luck proving that) if they were on ebay they would have been removed for all the negative feedback and item not as described. All of the above while charging a 22%premium on every item bid... wow just wow! I wont make the same mistake twice and hopefully this will save some other people.

Seen advertised a few times, thought as during covid would see if we could get sone products cheap. Big mistake. Won a morphy richards prepstar blender, item arrived boxed well and looked clean. Then trying to operate it and of course the motor doesn't work and a few attachments are broken. So paid (with added vat and buyers commission) about £20 less than rrp for a useless item. Avoid them like covid or the plague. Surely trading standards should investigate and they should quote that item doesn't work.

VERY RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE. VERY UNREASONABLE. THEY NEED TRAINING ON HOW NOT TO BE AN IDIOT. They are never in the wrong and so will never apologise no matter how obvious their mistake is. They charged me £25 storage fine after agreeing that I collect my goods three days later. They left office earlier than stated in the email they sent me and made me travel a long journey only to go back without my goods.

Well I thought I’d been lucky, purchased 2 items, ga ing chair and bed frame, all parts there, then my luck ran out. I then purchased a coffee machine, for the item, lever where you choose hot or cold water was broken and electrics exposed. Emailed them, they did reply, saying tough luck, should have examined before purchase. Couldn’t as they weren’t accepting viewing, and the item was in a box in their picture, so couldn’t see the actual machine. I’ve reported them to trading standards. I only lost £21, feel sorry for those that spent a lot more. AVOID AVOID AVOID, just selling tat.

Have bought from JP many times in the past and on most occasions have been happy with the lots I've won. However, the first time I won a couple of lots which were being sent via DPD things have gone wrong. Only 1 item was delivered which was part of 1 lot. DPD asked me to contact JP and ask them to raise an investigation with them. I have been lied to twice as DPD confirmed they'd had no contact from JP to start any investigation. Finally after numerous emails they agreed to a refund of one lot but not the other as they say they don't do partial refunds. They will send me a replacement. Guess what, no refund exerted and no replacement sent despite similar items being sold in the auctions. It's not as though I'm asking for hundreds of pounds. Customer service has been one of the worse I've ever encountered. No complaints process in place. Basically they don't care.....
