“This is my second time utilizing a Coach. The first time, I did nutrition only. After the first round, I kept my weight within 5 lbs. This time my goals were a little different; I wanted to drop a few pounds, but work towards a sustainable workout program. I had been using Beach Body for years. “Long time lurker on the macros.inc site but finally decided to buckle down and accept the fact that as a 45 year old woman, I could no longer live by the principle of being able to eat what I wanted as long as I worked out. “I used an online trainer before Macros Inc and he set a specific meal plan for me. It definitely was working, I also thought I understood macros at that point. Eating the same thing began to affect my home life (my husband is a chef and loves to cook for me). I followed Macros Inc and thought maybe I’d get a coach just to try, but I thought I already knew all there was to know. I was placed with one coach who I thought was nice, but never really reached out until I did. I realized there was a lot I didn’t understand, but didn’t feel comfortable repeatedly asking the same questions. I’m a very self sufficient person so we never communicated much. She then left and I was placed with Danielle. I’m so happy I was! She patiently taught me to track recipes and unprompted gave me the encouragement I needed to try to go off my “safe foods” and start branching out. “Signing up for Macros complete coaching (training and nutrition) was a great decision. I started in January 2023 with the goal of losing weight to attend a family member's wedding in May and a big vacation in French Polynesia to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in August. I wanted to lose weight, tone up and feel better.
I was synched up with Coach Rachel Burks who from the beginning was a great fit for me. I was already working out by taking group fit classes but I wasn't losing weight. Rachel gave me reasonable macros to help me meet my weight loss goals and gave me weight training assignments to help me get the look I wanted in a bikini. Within five months I lost 25 pounds and fit back into my goal jeans. I attended the wedding feeling confident in my skin and went on to lose another five pounds before my vacation. I felt and looked great and treated myself to several bikinis for our trip.
Rachel provided great tips on meal prep, recipes and when I hit a wall due to life getting in the way, she was able to center me around focusing on my BAM (bare azz minimum). I opted for my steps being my BAM and was able to stay focused enough to not derail all my great progress.
Once I hit my weight goal, I stayed with the complete coaching for another six months to ensure I would be able to maintain my progress. During that time I have remained committed to being consistent with hitting my goal steps, getting in my group fitness classes, some weight training and tracking my macros. While I have decided to end my coaching in March 2024, I highly recommend this experience. I never felt like I couldn't eat what I wanted. I learned how to make good decisions around portion size, learned how adding tons of veggies and fruit to each meal and snack would keep me full and to not forgo meals out, vacations where I didn't track or get my steps in and the occasional splurge dessert. I have made macros a part of my life and am committed to continuing all these great habits going forward.
