Got a Question?

It is nice to see when you have £300 credit in your Octopus account and how many customers are in this same boat and there are probably more with a larger credit but where and to who are they distributing the interest gained on our money sitting in their Octopus Bank Account and yet still they charge all customers with daily charges.

I’ve had solar panels installed and started exporting electricity to Octopus last month. The last bill doesn’t state the amount of electricity exported and the money Octopus should have paid us (15p/kWh). I’ve sent three emails but didn’t get an answer. I’m seriously considering to move to another electricity provider-Octopus customer for quite a few years)

How long do you keep money in pending ?

As long as they possibly can… submit formal complaint to get anywhere

Why do Octopus energy not respond to emails. They state "At Email Octopus, we are available every day, with limited support on weekends. We respond to all support queries within 24 hours, although in most cases, it's much faster" . This is clearly nonsense as I've now been waiting 10 days for a reply to my email. Does anyone know what the actual time is that they take to answer emails.

They are completely rubbish at responding to emails especially if it’s requesting credit back or you’ve been overcharged. They do respond to formal complaints usually.

Do energy companies have to supply invoices that should Show How they have calculated their charges by law as they take payment via direct debit, and the amount taken just don't add up to my usage and they refuse to give me a break down Thanks

Hey, they take your money, reduce your balance on their dashboard but don’t credit the closing balance on the current bill…. Check ‘view my balance history’ online to see what’s actually going on and cross check with your bills online. You can also submit a DSAR to get all your bills. Hope this helps… they are a bloody nightmare!

Take photos of your meter each month as evidence and submit online regardless if you have a smart meter. Then submit a SAR for all your information including accounts through the ICO website- they have 30 days to comply. They only respond to formal complaints!

Has anyone else had a sudden and unexpected debit since switching to Octopus? I was very much in credit but suddenly on switching they reversed that to a massive debit. I know this is not the case but I am the one who has to sort it out. I only ever switched once before and exactly the same thing happened then. It would appear companies use switching to make money from their customers.

I was thinking off changing my gas and electric suppliers to octopus.after reading the reviews I think I have changed my mind.at the moment I am with shell energy which was first utility. I must admit I have had no trouble with them.i even choose what I want to pay each month.its certainly made my mind up I'm staying with them I know exactly what my bill is each month.as I have smart meter

Well Joyce, in my opinion that is probably one of best decisions you will ever make, to stay at shell. OE are not fit to operate. I amsupposed to be on PSR but it counts for nothing. The greg@ mail address i think is a big con because any reply, if you are lucky enough to get one at all, just comes from customer support ...... obviously intercepted. Please avoid at all costs. Might try Shell myself.

Best decision, Joyce. My experience was so bad I reported Octopus to the Energy Ombudsman and won.

Don’t do it! I have never had a company add debt to my account like Octopus. Our savings is their fabricated profit!

I recently moved in to a property where supply is by octopus energy. I already sent the move-in details, till now there is no response. I am unable to set up new account as well, not accepting my email id? Why so?
