“WARNING!!! Don’t use Origin. I have been a loyal customer for 8 years bills always paid on time but I accidentally overpaid by accident. It has been a nightmare trying to get a refund. They truly don’t care about their customers, AT ALL! Do yourself a favour and go with a provider who have enough money in their account to refund a customer! After A MONTH! I still haven’t received my refund. I feel embarrassed for the monkey running the origin circus. BEYOND! Terrible “service””
“They have no compassion for anyone I tried to explain I'm bankrupt sent them my bankruptcy details still they demand for me to pay a 1009 dollar bill upfront had to borrow the money the wouldn't even let me pay 500 the next day and 509 the very next week. “Was advised by Origin that our meter needed to be changed to a Smart Meter as it was "faulty" I objected, but was told it was going ahead. I then requested that all communications be switched off. So from then on all of my bills have been estimated as they're too lazy to send out a meter reader. I was constantly emailing them, they'd do adjustments/refunds and it got so confusing I couldn't make head nor tails of the bills. I decided to switch providers and a final read was supposed to be done by Origin but when I received my final bill it was ESTIMATED again. It's always OVER estimated. I've asked them to please give a reason for not performing an actual read on a final bill and depending on their response, I may be making a call to the Energy and Water Ombudsman. Glad to be giving them the flick, who knows how much I've been tipped off over the years? The bill got emailed to me this morning and so far I have had 6 missed calls from them probably trying to get my business back.......not happening. Would not recommend doing business with them.”
“Horrible experience. Moved into a new property, applied for power connection. On the connection day, got no power. Called them to fix the issue, and as it's after hours, it's a $100+ fee. The operator didn't communicate clearly that the switch should be turned off, so that resulted in another late call and another $100 fee. I was stressed and upset about the situation. The operator didn't ask me to confirm these requests and fees. (I'd move that to the next morning if I knew that I'd need to pay $200 to get power connected). Will move to a different provider. Not recommend dealing with their company and their customer support.”
“You have been caughtThese people have no scruples and are thieves. They have robbed me for years with pricing increase many times. The moment I decided to go to Red Energy, after I moved away, phones calls started and I never picked up. Then they sent me an email with pricing better that Red Energy. What a face !!!!!!! Robbing till the last minute. I never answered and do not care if they are cheaper than Red Energy. Total shame of incredible robbers.
I am ultra surprised that their rating in Product Review was 1.9 out of 5 and now lots of reviews have vanished and they end up with 4 stars. I should have taken screen prints 4 months ago. Something smells very fishy.”
“Origin energy is a thug!!! I moved to Brisbane in July 2022, my apartment has integrated supply for hot water and gas with Origin. I don't have a choice to move to other supplier.
Feb 2024, I received a bill for $400, shock of my life. The adjustments range from Jan 2023 till Oct 2023.As an immigrant I have been dealing with cost of living, child care etc..all of a sudden this is a bomb on my wallet. my regular bill never crossed $100. I was furious and rang up Origin. They said these are adjustments, supplier recently sent us correct readings. They stuck to the same story. I asked are you going to send me another adjustment in few months? she says she's not sure. so the current bill is not final, they will not take correct readings. she says IT glitch, I said I work in IT what is the IT glitch? you cannot get away with regular reason as IT glitch. she says I'm not trained to check that so you find our since you work in IT. she started telling me she can't hear me and the call was dropped. I receive a message telling me that my meter was broken!! how long was the meter broken? why no one checked if it is broken? so how do I know this is an honest and correct bill?? on top of all other issues I'm fighting with one more was added by Origin. I have raised a complaint with Fair trade office, they have accepted my complaint. waiting how it goes!!”
“Yes we have Solar on our roof and guess Origin sent us a letter and text and email that they are coming out on the 23rd February 2024 to change the meter. We are not to approach the servicemen while doing the job.
Ok they changed it but disconnected our solar system.
I have rang 3 times, call centre in New Zealand, have to email technician it will take a couple of days, is the inverter switched on, these are the feed back.
All I want is our solar system connected it is a lemon on the roof.
I cannot prove it but I think they have done this on purpose.
Anyway rang AGL transferring to them in 5 days, there solar technician will come out and fix our solar free of charge.
Feel sorry for many others out there that this origin company is doing the same thing to.

Recieved a $1,200 bill and questioned it as I also have solar they put me on a better rate so they said, I reduced dryer use by half and stopped fish tank and water fountain filter and now just received a $2425 dollar quarter bill. I cant get them to send me a regular bill, sometimes its quarterly sometimes its every 6 months, i cant see my usage since April 2023 and no matter how many times i call to beg for a bill or at least an amount or even a vague idea of usage so i can budget for their high prices i get nothing but some parrot saying "technical issue that has unfortunately impacted the billing cycle" but this has been going on for over 12 months, if you are thinking of going with origin....don't, they are the most inept company you will ever deal with”

“I have direct debit set up with Origin n pay small amounts fortnightly. I received a letter in June saying prices were going up yet again, I received same letter June 22. Once upon a time my bills were much the same n if it was higher, I knew why, my hot water heater was leaking. After reading reviews I can understand why I hadn't had a bill in many mths,Origin didn't tell me why, they just sent me a bill for over $1000. It was a shock n made me so angry, they were so happy about their new look bill. Origin thought they cld just debit my acc just b4 Christmas, no reasons as to why they hadn't been taking payments. They gave me 1mth extension, I can't pay it. Due to chronic pain I use a bucket to wash or use wetones, I rarely use a heater,can hardly move with all the coats I need to stop shivering, even the dogs sleep with me to keep warm. I don't even cook n eat,can only afford my meds n dog food. So now I have to up fortnightly paymnts n try to get another extension...another bill comes in Feb. I just tried to join Spike,code didn't come thru. No Christmas again thanks to Origin. I'll be changing to another company after I pay this bill. It's suppose to be a happy time but that last bill seemed cold n uncaring. Costs r going up because of the "new look bills" n all the reward things. Why can't we have a choice n just have plain electricity? Even when I emailed u , I wasn't told why bills weren't sent , but there isn't an excuse is there. The more I write the angrier I get. I shldv taken a pic of bill but waste of time,like this feedback”
