“SCAMMERS ALERT ORIGIN
Never show up for meter reading, they just slap you with random bill. And every winter season the bill goes up double automatically. I booked for meter reading and paid extra service charge, took a day off, no one turned up. The other day I called them and they said someone already did meter readings yesterday. These are Robbers.”
“So basically no one came to read my meter on the due date (I was available all day) but now they want to charge me $15 to send someone out???? And that I am being unreasonable????? I had the day off to help/give access but šÆ no one showed up and they won't reply to my emails anymore”
“Horrible company which is verging on a scam. They weezle money out of you and do not conduct their operations properly. It would not surprise me if someone took them to court over their processes and won.”
“Upon trying to move the electricity back into my fathers name as the tenant was leaving, we got the royal run around. First my dad called they said he can't do it because he doesn't have the bill in front of him, even though I gave him all the details.
Then I called upon his request, and was told only the owner whose name will be on the bill can do it. I explained he just called and was refused. I said he's old and deaf and I am the power of attorney anyway and he said well it's easier if he calls.
I managed to message him as he can't hear the phone ring and he called me back and I said you have to call again. This time he got a person with a strong foreign accent and being as deaf as he is couldn't understand him and was struggling and when he said I can't understand you please put me through to someone else. They refused.
After the call he called me and said that was the worst experience on a call of his life and he'd like to off himself because of how he was treated!
My father has never said that. And in a society with such little regard for older people and when he asked nicely please let me speak to someone else, and he wouldn't, is disgusting.
Customer service is no longer service it is entitled people that think it's ok not to listen to the customers at all.
It's not ok.

“Origin deserves no stars. Their billing system is a disgrace. Repeatedly not taking actual reads, do not record start and finish reads on bills. Forever re-issuing amended bills to the point where itās impossible to understand the bills. Donāt apply solar credits in a reliable and timely way and refuse to allow the customer to supply photos of actual reads so solar credits can be claimed and paid.
In preparing now to switch providers, my concern now is we wonāt get solar credits owed to us from Origin.
Been to the ombudsman at the beginning and got initial problems sorted with the ombudsmanās help. Looks like Iām going back to the ombudsman again if Iāve got the patience to persevere with it all.”
“Worst company for power . My bill is always around $500-$600. Last one was $773 which is fine . This Bill is $930 because the last one was estimated so they put the extra on. Itās never ever been that high and nothing has changed . I called to ask what the ad on was and what was the bill before the ad on.
We canāt tell you that sorry . What do you mean you canāt tell me that . Itās a simple request. The second girl just kept talking over me and talking off topic and had no idea what she was doing . I added up my bill and deducted etc and the numbers donāt match the bill but apparently Iām wrong .
Who do I contact to complain about them and get this resolved ? Apparently I can do an internal complaint š seriously ? Why would I trust you idiots to be impartial . I canāt stand being ripped off . Life is hard enough . Can anyone make sense of this bill?”
“Very poor loyalty and customer service. We moved home and was late in paying our old house account. They sent debt to collections even though partial payments had been made. They will also constantly send you text messages reminding you of payment upcoming even though we were on time every time for years.”
“Origin took an extra amount from my direct debit in December 2023 and I have been trying to get this amount refunded with no success. Changed to another broadband supplier in December. Since then they took two direct debit payments in January and February. In total they owe me Ā£94.90 plus any overpayment for December because I left them in the middle of the month. Despite several telephone calls when they agree my figures, they will not send me a refund. I am 92years old and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.”
“Not recommend Origin to anyone from now on. Just trying to seek options they have for payment extension. Very messy. With the back-and-forth emails having āunderlying not nice and no-kindnessā cause anxiety and worst experience for financial hardship support I have ever received among other bill issuers. I felt like I sought out for help like āI am asking them for their favour to save meā. Poorest customer service Iāve experienced so far.”
“Needed assistance today re questions I had about power supply for life support equipment and Jamie was very supportive in response to my concerns and questions.
Have always had excellent assistance with telephone enquiries from Origin staff. Definitely recommend Origin as a company and any staff I have requested assistance from.”
“WARNING!!! Donāt use Origin. I have been a loyal customer for 8 years bills always paid on time but I accidentally overpaid by accident. It has been a nightmare trying to get a refund. They truly donāt care about their customers, AT ALL! Do yourself a favour and go with a provider who have enough money in their account to refund a customer! After A MONTH! I still havenāt received my refund. I feel embarrassed for the monkey running the origin circus. BEYOND! Terrible āserviceā”
“They have no compassion for anyone I tried to explain I'm bankrupt sent them my bankruptcy details still they demand for me to pay a 1009 dollar bill upfront had to borrow the money the wouldn't even let me pay 500 the next day and 509 the very next week. I have young children who I need to have hot water for still they demanded the money and threatened me with disconnection shame on you origen you claim to care about families HAHAHAHA bull poo”

“Was advised by Origin that our meter needed to be changed to a Smart Meter as it was "faulty" I objected, but was told it was going ahead. I then requested that all communications be switched off. So from then on all of my bills have been estimated as they're too lazy to send out a meter reader. I was constantly emailing them, they'd do adjustments/refunds and it got so confusing I couldn't make head nor tails of the bills. I decided to switch providers and a final read was supposed to be done by Origin but when I received my final bill it was ESTIMATED again. It's always OVER estimated. I've asked them to please give a reason for not performing an actual read on a final bill and depending on their response, I may be making a call to the Energy and Water Ombudsman. Glad to be giving them the flick, who knows how much I've been tipped off over the years? The bill got emailed to me this morning and so far I have had 6 missed calls from them probably trying to get my business back.......not happening. Would not recommend doing business with them.”
“Horrible experience. Moved into a new property, applied for power connection. On the connection day, got no power. Called them to fix the issue, and as it's after hours, it's a $100+ fee. The operator didn't communicate clearly that the switch should be turned off, so that resulted in another late call and another $100 fee. I was stressed and upset about the situation. The operator didn't ask me to confirm these requests and fees. (I'd move that to the next morning if I knew that I'd need to pay $200 to get power connected). Will move to a different provider. Not recommend dealing with their company and their customer support.”
