“My husband sent a package from the UK to Israel. It cost 90 pounds. It reached Belgium then Parcelcompare sent us an email saying it was being returned because of an embargo (the recipient in Israel has had no problem getting parcels before or since then). Now Parcecompare is demanding a further 90 euros for us to get the parcel back or they will dispose of it in a week (it feels like some ransom threat). I have never heard of that kind of practice before and 90 euros (well 180 really) to reach Belgium and back seems ludicrous. Is this company a scam?”
“Just use for comparisons and then book directly with the courier through their own websites. To claim on their insurance if anything goes wrong is an absolute nightmare. I am still fighting for it 12 days on and being sent around in circles. Even worse you have to pay for the return to prove the damages when a parcel is rejected”
“sending me emails that I need to pay £61 as additional payment months after my parcel was delivered. I even saying legal action. The truth is, if parcelcompare put the price they are asking in the first place, I wouldnt use it. but no, at first they offer much cheaper amount than other companies then afterwards they will charge you without your consent”
“They are absolute scam. Get quote for £52.00 charged extra 12000 rupees in pakistan and now deducted £40
from my account without notice. for 8kg old cloths they charged almost £150. They are scammers and doughy people don't even think to use them”
“SCAM!!! If I could select zero stars, it would be more accurate! disgusting service! DO NOT USE! I used them to return a toilet cistern. The item was returned damaged, in pieces! And to top it off, they charged my card extra without warning! saying it was heavier than they thought. Even though it was returned in the same box with the weight stamped on it! mystery! Absolute SCAM!”
“Absolutely everyting they say in the reviews about this company and same problems/scam with them.
However, if you check company house for this corrupt company's name, you will find the people responsible under (people) Associated with this business. Then you can message them all directly on linkedin and contact them via the address details saved in company house. Also, this horrible company use Google ads to promote their business. Each click on their sponsered ad, can cost between £2 to £5. If enough people did this, they will soon loose all their profits they steal off everyone. These scumbags make lots of money from scamming innocent people like us, try the above to stop them getting away with it.”
“no need to go to a theme park....go round in circles for free on the parcel compare.com website. want to submit a claim? click on 'submit' claim then watch it refresh the same page. i did it for hours.....and didn't have to queue for the ride. yay.
DREADFUL company. never again.”
“Avoid like the plague! Do not use! Paid for a parcel delivering from a city 2 hours away in uk and a week later they charged me 20x the original price, which maxed out my card, and took it from my account without authorisation! It was a plastic car part and they claim it was overweight, this was not the case and I have proof but they seem uninterested and have failed to respond to 3 emails. I have sought legal advice and am taking matters further.”
“NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.
IF AN ITEM IS DELIVERED DAMAGED AND YOU’VE INSURED IT THEY DO EVERYTHING NOT TO PAY OUT.
My experience reflects everyone else. But here’s an insight of what they ask for when an item you’ve posted arrives damaged.
“Please do not move the damaged parcel from the delivery location or discard any of the packaging materials, as it may affect your claim.
Secondly, please submit the following information to support your claim within 14 calendar days of the delivery of your item
Clear images of:
a. The external packaging, and especially any visible damage to this material.
b. The internal packaging (showing how each item was packaged), including any damage caused.
c. Any damage to the item/s inside the parcel.
Any other supporting documentation or information you wish to provide to support your claim (for example; if the goods were packaged in the original
manufacturers packaging this information is very useful to support your claim)
Provide proof of value such as a purchase invoice or a receipt
I will then review the evidence you send me, and respond within 7 working days to confirm if a physical damage inspection will be required.
Then what?
1. If a physical inspection of your goods is required, it can take up to 14 days to arrange for your goods to be collected, examined and then returned to you.
2. If the packaging is found to be sufficient and we accept your claim, we will send you a claim form which you must return to us within 7 days.
3. Once we receive the completed claim form back, it will then take up to 14 days for us to process your claim and issue payment.”
I sent photographs 11 times and I can prove it. But they say…”not received, if we don’t get in 3 days we will close your claim”
They then say, can you send a photograph showing internal packaging, again if I don’t send it within 3 days claim will be closed. So I sent that (bearing in mind everything was returned in the manufacturers outer and inner packaging).
They were obviously disappointed I sent a photo showing the item in the inner packaging…bcs now they say can I move some of the inner packaging and take another photo. Bearing in mind I posted this…I didn’t receive it.
Totally corrupt company. Never use them you will certainly regret it if the courier damages the item.
Date of experience: 31 October 2023”
“STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY
They don't work directly with the shipping or courier company. They work with another company that has an account with the shipping/courier company. When you face problems with the parcel and you try to contact the shipping or courier company, they don't entertain you. They direct with another company, which has no link with you. Then you are forced to contact parecelcompare.com, and this company has no phone number and only email contact. When you ask for the status of a parcel, they will take 7–10 days to get back to you. Because they don't have any direct connection with the actual courier company, they do not have any access to real-time information. But if your parcel is not important, you can use it. NEVER USE THEM FOR ANY IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS. But be aware that customer service is the worst, as I have explained above.”
“Charged for overweight parcel. I paid for the parcel 2kg over its weight.
Then proceeded to constantly charge for parcels I have never sent. They are a scam!!!”
“Beware. You get a cost for shipping on their website, they charge your card, they arrange collection, then "audit" the shipment and charge your card again.
When I disputed the second charge they kept sending a default reply that they would provide details for the second charge, but never did, and then charged my card with the same amount AGAIN!
An initial quotation of £94.53 was charged £94.53 + £126 .60+ £126.60, for a total of £347.73.
I am now disputing these payments with my bank, but beware of ParcelCompare, it's definitely a fly-by-night operation, never trust them”
“They fraudulently take money from you by saying you did not give the correct dimensions or weight of your parcel. Bear in mind, they are not the actual courier, they just helps themselves to your cash they are put and out scammers”
“SCAM COMPANY!!
Used them to send a parcel to the USA in September and they have taken a further payment out of my account this morning without my knowledge or consent.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!”
“ABSOLUTE SCAM! Weighed and measured parcel exactly. Was quoted and paid for collection from UPS for £33.29. Firstly UPS did not collect, so had to take the parcel to a collection point the following day. Secondly, had a further £61.84 taken from my bank account without warning, permission or explanation. Having complained I was told it was a 'large parcel surcharge.' I submitted evidence that the size and weight were exactly as in my original quote but still can't get the additional payment back, even though this was taken fraudulently. DO NOT USE!”
“AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE !!! Measured weighed parcel …. Paid the delivery cahrge THEN 2 weeks later they took over 100 pounds out sent an invoice saying parcel was bigger than I had stated which is in true …. They are ripping people off WHAT A FCKING CON”
“Lost my parcle and took them 28 days to get back to me. No compensation given as they say any Parcle sent through Evri is nor covered for compensation. Will not be using this company again.”
“On 17th September, I used ParcelCompare comparison website and booked a UPS parcel for pickup to be sent to Southam CV47. The parcel details I entered are as follows: 1 parcel with the measurement 99cm x 61 cm x 34cm and a weight 15 kg, which equates to 41.07 kg (V). I selected service type as standard. The total bill for the Parcel is £22.57, which was paid promptly.
On the 28th September I have received a Large Parcel Surcharge for £61.84. The charge is incorrect as accurate parcel dimensions, and weight were entered during price comparison. Furthermore, the UPS driver verified the weight at pickup on the 18th September.
Notification to appeal charge
ParcelCompare's website states that you will always send an invoice to notify you of the charge, and if the cost is for a weight adjustment, we will give you 7 days to appeal the bill before we take payment.
...We will always send you an invoice to notify you of the charge, and if the charge is for a weight adjustment, we will give you 7 days to appeal the charge before we take payment...
I have not received the stipulated 7 day notice to appeal the charges. Below, I have listed the notification and amount debited from my account.
Email received - 28 Sep 23 at 19:37
£61.84 debit from the account – 28 Sep 23 at 19:37
Email to confirm payment of £61.84– 28 Sep 23 at 19:37
Incorrect service rating
Your website is misleading and states that you have received 4.3 stars from 19,663 Feefo reviews. Feefo’s website shows that you have received 3.9 from just 2,277 reviews. As per Feefo, you have 33% (502) 1 star ratings, which of the 1 star ratings is due to unfairly charging customers additional charges for oversized packages without warning. I would ask that this error is immediately corrected as it is misleading for new customers like myself that you are a reliable and trustworthy business.
Trustpilot has also given you a 3.8 star rating with over 30% 1 star rating. Similar to feefo, the majority of the 1 star rating is related to no warning of additional charges debited from customers accounts.
Citizen Advice / Trading standards
Per the citizen advice website, you must notify customers of any additional charge and allow them time to challenge/dispute before money is debited from their account. As per the timing of transactions shown above, this was not followed.”
“SCAM COMPANY! TOOK more than GBP540 without my personal consent after 12 days of items got delivered! PLUS the initial booking fee of GBP240ish. In total, they've scammed for more almost GBP800 for sending just 3 parcels! Unbelievable! I'm suing them!
They will charge your card again without notifying you for tripple the price and told you that your weight and sizes were wrong and you had to pay or provide proofs of UNOPENED packages after 12 days of receiving them or BEFORE you pack. They will never get back to you!
DO NOT USE PARCEL COMPARE.
From a true customer. Happy to show any proofs with UPS UK and Taiwan office.”
