“Awful - they pick items that are nearly expired, tiny items (like avocado's 4 to a bag), dented cans etc.
I have waited over two hours for delivery, the drivers always get lost and I have wasted hundreds of Rands calling Mr D to get them to read detailed instructions on how to find me.
Mr D agents are rude and ignorant.
Awful service - and we pay more for items than in store. I have been told by Mr D "agents" to cook at home if I am not happy with delivery and to return items to the store if they are not to my liking! Useless.”
“Disappointing service delivery
I placed an order on Friday 28 March 2025 on the Pick n Pay ASAP app.
The order shows that it was delivered, but I never received it. I reported this immediately through the app rating, after receiving the notification from the app that the order was delivered and I have received no satisfactory answer or a refund after lodging the complaint.
Please assist as I am at wits end.
I sent numerous follow up emails to enquire about the status of my complaint, but to no avail and the last correspondence I received was 5 days ago. I've tried calling Customer service, held on forever and decided to abandon the call.
It's been more than a week without receiving my order or a refund.”
“I went to Pick n Pay at Campus Square Johannesburg. I was treated in a very disrespectful manner being made fun of because I am older. The cashier asked why I haven't been to the shop in a while I said that I don' like the long queues at Pic'k n Pay Campus Square. She then said something about me being old. I told her I am not old, I still work full time as a teacher. She then said that I am lazy to stand in a queue. I ignored her got my receipt and left. I will think a long time beforee ever going to Pick n Pay again.”
“Pick and Pay Southdowns is probably the worst Pick and Pay you can get. The prices of items on the shelves and those rung up on the till are never the same. You have to check your till slip every time ,and it's guaranteed that there will be a mistake. For example today I bought a namaqua 3l merlot and 3l cabernet sauvignon. The price on the shelf was R150 each. Price charged at the till R174.99. On 2 items pick and pay is stealing R50 from an unsuspecting customer. To try and get your money back is a mission, wastes at least 30 minutes of your time. This is not something out of the ordinary, it's a daily occurrence and nothing gets done. I think it's time to close pick and pay southdowns, maybe it's time for Checkers to move in.”
“My delivery was late 4 items we missing them instead of refunding me the deducted another R86 from my bank account without my permission!!! Can't reach head office and after hours if you get through they push you around from one person to another. Day light robbery!!🤬”
“I just came back from Pick n pay at Braamfontein, the service needs immediate improvement, specifically the ladies that serve food(food servers). I was on tea break for 15minutes, I went to buy solid food so I can be fulfilled and take My medication on a full stomach, the lady is not even paying attention to Me as a client when I buy, I ordered pap and cow meat(Inyama yenhloko) she serves Me cabbage, and Mogodu, then she doesn't even give Me a plastic spoon, soviet and I realize when I have to pay, that this is not what I have ordered then I left didn't pay and I didn't eat and get what I went for to the shop, wasted a whole 22 minutes. Specifically this Braamfontein pick n pay needs immediate improvement with their staff service, it is rubbish.”

“I bought Casa Mia Marie and Coconut biscuits recently from PnP - the worst ever biscuits made; tasteless, falls apart / breaks into pieces when you touch it - as if not enough/ proper ingredients used, with a strange smell and taste. Thought to inform PnP anonymously - as it reflects badly on PnP as seller of Casa Mia. Bring back Bakers Biscuits please!”
“I placed an order online on the pick and pay website for groceries to be picked up at a pick and pay that’s near me. I was charged twice by them. I’ve been calling them all day and nobody is assisting me. I called the bank and the bank said it’s a pick and pay issue. I’m basically in limbo now because of this. Never will I ever buy from them again. Some of the agents too aren’t knowledgeable and cannot speak proper English which makes matters worse!”
“4 orders in a row been waiting for over an hour for someone to pick my order from Canal Walk. No remorse from pick n pay when I had to call an agent 4 times. I will never use their service again. They Definitely not living up to their ASAP name.”
“Me and my family went to the Pick n Pay in Woodlands Mall on 24-11-2024, to purchase some items for lunch. The staff their seemed extremely dismissive of our presence and were very unhelpful.
Firstly, I went to the Deli to get a pie, but the staff refused to assist me and kept helping people that came after me, and there were only 3 people including myself when I got there, so it wasn't as if they were too busy to notice me. At one point they came to help me as I was the last person, but suddenly another lay came by and the staff member turned around just as she started speaking to me to assist the other lady, clearly showing me that they did not want to help me. I eventually left without getting anything from the Deli after about half and hour. This is the first time I am treated like this, probably because I usually rather go Checkers who have very friendly staff usually, but from now on I will stick with Checkers on the other side of the same mall.
Secondly, my wife found a big piece of smoked cheese in the cheese section. It did not have a price on, only an expiration date. While I was waiting at the Deli she took the cheese to one of the staff members to get a price and they took it to the same Deli I was waiting at. When the Deli staff saw my wife waiting for the price, they took the cheese and went to the office. A while later they came back without the cheese and refused to sell it to us with excuses such as it was discontinued and some other excuses and I cannot remember, but it clearly had a expiry date which was still fine, so why was it in the cheese section and why can they not just give us the price as Checkers has done before if an item does not have a price. We asked them what they are going to do with the cheese if they cannot sell it and they could not tell us what they will do with it or where it was so that we can take a photo to try and find it somewhere else.
All in all, it seemed as if the Deli staff went out of there way to refuse to help us in anything we needed. Such a disappointment.
They even promised that they would get the store to contact me, but it has been more than a week and nothing, as expected!”
“Late Grocery Delivery and no Customer Service
A terrible experience with online grocery service today. Goods not delivered on time (1 hour late), and the customer service number takes at least 15 minutes before someone answers, and then they are unable to put you through to a helping agent. Their WhatsApp does not address complaints and their emails are electronically generated without sorting out the problem. Not WORTH USING again.”
“I made order today with pick and pay and before it was picked up everything was online before I made the order, on receiving one item was missing. I called the customer care and I was it was out of stock!!! Why was the item still on the website if it was out of stock??
I made an order again the second time when I noticed it was back in stock and when I received it the same thing happened, the raisin bread I ordered was not there. I called again and was told the same thing. Do you know how frustrating this is? For order that the minimum has to be 100 rand ? You need to do better, this is really annoying and frustrating. The worst part is they are not even taking the blame in anyway.”
