“Regular customer and angered on how you have put up prices up by 50 percent then offered 50 percent discount at till. Basically a scam. Treating customers like they're idiots but not falling for it. Another lost customer 😒”
“Very bad customer service and quite unimpressed with how I was served at the till. I will never go in there again they don't deserve my money. No wonder the store is virtually empty. Other people are probably shopping in a proper store. This was at Marsh Road, Luton store.”
“I will never use pound stretcher again.i purchased a wall clock from Bexleyheath store and it stopped working in a week.when we returned it they refused to take it back as they needed bill even thought their policy says paid card details is enough if we lost the bill.I was so angry when the lady at the till said you might have brought it from some other shop and so they need the bill.I am happy that it was my first shopping in that shop and I did not spent a lot there. I will never go there again.there are plenty of shops around here with good customer service.”
“Definitely will not use this company again.
Received a parking fine for being 6 minutes over the allocated time. I continue to be harrassed by the debt recovery agency they use.
My philosophy is, if you do not like their policies, do not use them! So well done Pound Stretcher, you've been added to my and my circles black list!”
“I found the Syston store really bad
The manager was talking to the staff as if they were misbehaving dogs. Shouting, rude and disrespectful
I wil not be using them again.”
“I frequent poundstretcher Raw dykes road Leics frquently, I have a blue badge but can never use the disabled bays, I noticed the same car is always parked in the same blue badge bay,
I came to the conclusion it must be an employee
When going thro the till i asked the cashier who the car belonged to,
I was shocked by his answer that the car belonged to the store manager and that was his parking space
If he had a blue badge, i would be ok with that
I have sent an email to Aziz Tayub regarding this with details of the car, I wonder if i will get a reply
Alastair”
“Poundstretcher ripping off customers by selling items with a price marked on packaging - and then charged a different price at tills, 50% more!! This has happened a number of times and is illegal! Make sure you check your till receipt as even when they were told about it, staff just shrugged and said 'its down to head office!'. ......and carried on overcharging the following week.”
“Poundstretcher - not when you've paid the parking fine.
My wife and Mother-in-law, who are both classed as disabled, went shopping at the store in Hinckley and parked in their carpark. Both move very slowly and take a long time shopping. They were in there just over 3 hours but spent over £150.00. As a reward for this they also received a £100.00 parking charge that would be reduced to £60.00 if they paid within 40 days. What is worse because Poundstretcher outsource the fines, they say that they can do nothing about it. Of course they can, cough up the £60.00.”
“Misleading customers with incorrect prices on shelves!! Wasted 15 minutes in the queue and then charged different price from what was on the shelf & extremely poor customer services from their staff.
Unable to complain as no manager was around in store in Finchley Central.”
“They have great service, they have things for 100 pounds costing 1 to 19 pounds also its all good quality things and great furniture for your house for a cheap price.”
“The shelves that once were full of all kinds of bird feed are now filled with plastic boxes and nothing else. The embarrassing look on your poor staffs faces when they return shaking their heads after searching the stock room for my starving wild birds peanuts.”
“Cheap enough but be very careful with BB dates etc within the food items as many will be out of date. Also, do not rely on them having the same products on a regular basis. This is so annoying. This company needs a good shakeup at the very top.”
“If I could give no stars I would!!! Their almost complete lack of customer service means that I really have to force myself to shop there. I picked 2 items off their clearance shelf (expecting them to be cheaper), however when I eventually got to the check out (queue much too long (- less staff, more profit I suppose) the cash-out operator tried to charge me the full price (as if they were new). I was disgusted, distressed and felt cheated. Should PS reply to this the please ensure I either get a name or extension.
ps I notice their prices are now rising (more profit?) and for some items it is better to shop at Sainsbury or Tesco. Poundstretcher are rubbish and they sell rubbish.”
“Re the Charlton Green Dover store. The four stars are not for the quality or anything. No, they are for the way the new manager has turned the store around putting stock where it should really be and making things look really nice. The staff are happier too. Well done. Sunday 21st July 2019”
“Not even one. I finished working at the Yarmouth Fuller's hill store in April. I've been owed 43 hours of pay worked...only received 8. Tried numerous occasions to call them to sort this matter out only to be put on voicemail... pointless task. Even been in store to ask the manager to sort this matter out..only to be brushed away.. disgusting behaviour.... disgusting company”
“The store in Dover town centre selling out of date food items. Tins of Fox's Chocolatey selection. Nowhere on the tin is there a BB date, even though the wrapping says there should be. Where has it gone?”
“The store in Charlton Green, Dover, Kent, sells out of date food stock. Inspite of writing to their CEO, aziz.tayub@poundstretcher.co.uk nothing whatsoever has been done. Not only that but he didn't even have the courtesy to reply. That's okay because I am now taking it up with trading standards. To be sure this is a nasty company and all dates need to be checked. Not just for BB dates but for completely out of date stock. It is odd because their other Dover store in Biggin Street is a pleasure to shop in. Nobody ever seems to be happy in the first one.”
“Last Saturday I popped into their store on London rd, Brighton for sniffle tablets. Lights on, A board in pavement, I entered the store, made my way to the meds aisle, started browsing when a youngish girl approached me and politely advised me they're close! I duly made my way back to exit doors which was locked, cleaner looked at me amazed, called out to back of store, a lady appeared, immediately said; "where you come from? We've been closed 30 minutes, don't you know that?"
I replied; "Obviously not" and started to explain what occurred when she abruptly and rudely retorted; "I should be checking your rucksack" to which I obligedly replied; "no problem" and started removing my rucksack from my back, when she realised her threat had backfired, she relented and started mumbling "in this instance, you can go" as if shes doing me a favour.
As I've worked in retail during uni days, knowing how desperate shop staff wants to get away after closing times especially on Saturdays, I insisted, she should check my bag to be absolutely sure I've not nicked anything, and beckoned both of them to follow me to the counter by the tills so that I can empty my entire used sweaty gym kit for her to enjoy!
Well, now she's trying to persuade me her "threatening" search is not necessary!
The cleaner, realising my double bluff politely apologised humbly.
Next time high street shops takes the easy option and blame online options for decrease business should perhaps look into their own attitudes why shoppers prefer more "non human contact" forms of shopping.
I for one will NOT be using this store and most probably boycotting this chain henceforth.”
