“I recently purchased some Remonte sandals. This was my first experience with this shoe brand since I often buy Mephisto and Clark’s shoes for the comfort and durability. I must say that I am very happy with these sandals. They are most comfortable, with cushion-like insoles and quite stylish in a silver metallic finish. I am tough on shoes and so far they are holding well. I will certainly buy more shoes from this manufacturer.”

“After scarcely 1 season's wear (3 months) of my sandals (60€), the innersole has started to disintegrate - rubbish bin tonight. So, Riekers, supposed decent marque, lasted less than a year. I have just bought very similar sandals from Lidl, 13€, more comfortable, but let me see how long they last. If it is less than 4 years, wow, they are still much better value than Riekers. If less than 2 years, they are covered by guarantee. After reading various experiences of customer services, I shall not be bothering to contact them. What a con of a company trading on past prestige. The fact that nearly 69% of reviews have awarded their purchases 1 or 2 stars says it all.”

“Having had a pair of Reiker sandals for at least a decade, I reluctantly had to admit they were past their best. I had no hesitation in choosing Reiker once more but unfortunately it's quite obvious after wearing twice (in dry conditions) that the quality has definitely been compromised. The honeycomb shape of the last was very apparent on the insole and also a sharp object very quickly appeared underneath the big toe area. I also feel that the leather used for the straps of the uppers is of a lesser quality. I am most disappointed so I returned them and was given a full refund”

“I have bought pair of quite expensive sandals to my 10 year old daughter (more expensive than my Keen Hydro) and sent her out with grandma (who is pesking me for not buying "mark" shoes) for a walk , it was first use and got call back from grandma 10 minutes later that one of the belts is broken! I'm so disappointed as I was told to buy Riekers as shoes not just comfortable , but also lasting. This is my first experience and will be probably the last one.”

“Remonte uses names like comfort and soft. Buyer beware, these are bad shoes and if you have any sort of problems with you feet, their shoe will make it worse. They are cheap shoes with a high price tag. Terrible for your feet and obviously this company is nothing but a scam.”

“I am shocked by the poor reviews. I love this brand and have at least 10 pairs of the dress shoes. They are the most comfortable shoe I’ve found for my foot. I am 68 and was almost crippled by by my feet until these became a staple in my closet. I am from Oregon and order them now from an English shop for the best price.”

“BUYER BEWARE! Worst pair of shoes I have ever bought and I'm 70 years old! The first time I wore them on a day with light drizzle I ended up with wet feet. The water comes in through all the seams. When I complained I was told they were a 'fashion' shoe - there is nothing fashionable about spending £60 on a pair of shoes that let water. Why on God's earth would I want a fashion shoe at my age - I told the assistant I wanted a good warm pair of shoes to wear throughout the winter. Shoddy shoes and shoddy treatment from this company.”

“Not happy at all initially bought ankle boot with side zip , found them really comfortable and style suited my feet . However within 3 months right sole had split , returned to store exchanged for new pair , same problem again and again. Have now had 3 pairs in sucession and same problem with each pair . Can rieker give any feedback on why this is such an issue with these particular boots these are clearly not cheap to buy so definitely should be a lot more robust than they are .”

“Rieker remonte is my new(ish) favorite shoe. I do a lot of light hiking and walking and my first pair that I purchased nearly 2 years ago is still okay, not great but soles do wear out. I find that they work well with those of us who have a somewhat high arch. While most of these shoes / boots are not leather, they do hold up better than I anticipated. Great fit for my finicky feet (women's shoes)”

“I purchased the boots. which are very cute . they have wool inside and the salesmen said they are a great quality boot for winter. I took them home then went back to exchange them. I wanted a snow boot. well the salesmen told me I bought a good quality boot and they will last the longest and have wool inside so they will keep my feet warm. I kept the boot and regret it dearly. I paid a lot of money for them and they are the coldest boot I own. the boot does not keep my feet warm and they are very cold. I do not recommend them. if you want them for looks absolutely but for warmth NO!”

“I have a similar problem to Anna S. After wearing a pair of Rieker boots sparingly for 4 months, the leather in the upper portion stared to flake off. On top of this, the leather on the top portion of the R boot has cracked in several places. I emailed Rieker and did not even hear back from them! I will never buy a Rieker product again!”

“I bought a pair of high boots just over a year ago. They were stored for the summer and when I brought them out the upper portion flaked off. I wore these only 4 times. Sole and lower look brand new. I contacted Rieker Canada and they agreed it was a huge defect in the product and to take them back to the store with a receipt and they should replace or give me a credit. I don’t bother to keep receipt after I’ve worn something. I now have a $200 pair of boots that look like an extreme case of dandruff! Finding a Rieker representative that is willing to help seems to be useless. I’ve bought Rieker previously and up to now have liked the product. Never again with customer service like this”

“I purchased an 80Euro shoe when I arrived in Slovenia last November and wore it several times, it was really comfortable shoe. Just few weeks passed I noticed shoe is peeling off, a part of the under sole was also removed.. I told Rieker's customer service about my concern and they do not respond with clear answers. STAY AWAY from RIEKER and do not buy.. IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY”

“I love rieker boots. yes they all are not fit for wet weather but I have bought 3 different pairs now and my husband has as well. They are so comfy and we think great value. I get many comments when I wear my rieker boots. If you want boots for wet weather get some proper walking boots or wellies! Just a shame their shoes are so old fashioned!”

“I have two pairs of Rieker boots which I absolutely love, until that is, my left foot was getting wet - a split in the sole. This happened in both pairs of boots. Because the uppers were perfect I took them to a cobbler who told me the shank (metal piece which runs under the sole) was too long and wasn't needed anyway! I paid to have both pairs repaired at a cost of £24. However, I was told that this could happen again. I am very disappointed as I have always purchased Rieker but at a cost of £80 new I will look elsewhere for suitable boots in the future. Compensation would be good! .”
