Quote was very good and less than my previous insurers. Only minus point is that you do not get physical documents, they are only available on line and I do like to have actual insurance docs. I know I could download, but will only do so if I need them.

I got a quote with a NCD. was then told it does not apply and would need a new quote they delayed this quote so that the time expired for me to cancel whist coming up with a ridiculous new quote so it was either pay up or pay up a cancellation fee. To add to bitter taste they sent me a letter confirming my NCB. Would never trust them again especially if a claim was involved. my advice stay clear.

I was happy enough with the first quote, but at the time I was in the process of changing vehicles

3rd March 2018 - extremely busy time for SAGA and all insurance companies should be NO EXCUSE for neglecting the conditions of the insurances. MY 88 year old Aunt has paid for years, her cold water tank froze and brought down the ceiling into her sitting room/dining area/kitchen - water went into the bedroom she was sleeping in - so lucky she wasn't underneath the collapse. She was assigned an agent to take care of her only to find he phoned her bungalow phone number - she couldn't be there - she had to go to her son's - the care has been almost nil - she should have been offered a hotel that day, plus a promise of when the builders could start - they are dragging their heels and not fulfilling their side of the contract. The stress may kill her. The family are of course doing their best but she is in quite a state-she needs to be told what will and won't happen and when. rubbish service. 6April 2018

Terrible!Just checked my 88 year old mothers insurance and discovered she was being charged over£600pa for her very basic home +contents cover. They were unable to offer better, so we went on comparison website +found better cover for £110pa. They should be ashamed

Saga's Home Emergency Insurance is not worth the paper it is written on. During a recent very cold spell, our boiler refused to start one morning and would not respond to the usual trick of hot water on the condensate pipe. After trying for almost an hour I decided to call the SAGA Home Emergency Insurance number. I was greeted by a recording telling me that due to the inclement weather there has been unprecedented demands on their resources and I should call out a local tradesman and reclaim the cost back from them. What ....?? We are an elderly, vulnerable couple now in a home without any heating whatsoever with outside temperatures of -4 deg C and no other telephone number was provided so that we could speak to someone and explain our position. Our roads were not blocked by snow: traffic was moving freely. I took out this insurance so that THEY would initiate the call-out. In the end I resolved the problem myself and also resolved to get some compensation back from SAGA. However, as noted on this and other review sites, SAGA just pass the buck. They just don't want to know. Despite their name being plastered everywhere on the Home Emergency information booklets they claim that the underwriters (AXA-Assistance) are totally responsible. So Mr SAGA why is it named SAGA Home Eergency Insurance? Why do I pay SAGA? Why do SAGA provide ALL the documentation? Don't be fooled by the 5* Defaqto rating. That is based on what they say they will provide and not what actually happens in pratice - as I discovered. I will never go back to SAGA, I cannot forgive them for this one. I recommend you think twice before spending money on this useless insurance.

Please be very careful when obtaining car insurance through Saga. We had been with Saga for a couple of years but when in November the latest renewal came through it had jumped in price drastically, so we decided not to renew as our old car simply wasn't worth it and we planned to upgrade the car in the next few months. We then spoke to an advisor on the phone who sold us a policy which we believed to be renewed automatically every 3 months unless cancelled by us without penalty. This seemed the perfect scenario as we didn't want to incur additional admin costs etc. which some less reputable companies charge. So, less than 3 months later we sold the car and informed Saga immediately. To our surprise a few days later a demand for over £80 landed on the doorstep claiming we owed this due to curtailment of the 12 months insurance. This is not what we were led to believe. However, we were told this was in the terms and conditions and of course can't prove otherwise. What makes matters worse is that the car was only worth £100 in part exchange value! I think it is disgraceful that a company like Saga who we always thought of as a company to treat older people with dignity and respect should lower themselves to such money grabbing exercise. I would not expect a company like Saga to deal with such underwriters and certainly will now never deal with Saga on any level, be it insurance, holidays or anything else ever again nor recommend.

Easy to do. Hope Saga will be competitive when I renew the insurance on my other car.

It is very important for potential Saga customers to realise that Saga are merely brokers and hand on the insurance to little known insurance companies who are immune to contact when there is a major issue. 10 weeks on I have been unable to resolve the buildings claim on my mother's property and am facing, according to Saga a further 4 weeks delay. I would like to post a favourable review for Saga but until this issue is resolved that is impossible.

After an incident involving my vehicle, Saga arranged a replacement car to be delivered to my house, and my own vehicle to be picked up for repair. The repairs were carried out by their recommend dealer. This was all arranged with one telephone call.

Was certainly cheaper than previous providers. Thinking maybe it's because I'm in the over 50's club

Expensive and VERY slow to pay out. They deliberately delay things and are deliberately evasive. The staff don't give a damn. They make it impossible to escalate. Once, I was on hold for a few minutes and then they just kicked the call back to the telephone answering service. Really, REALLY, avoid if you can. My wife has had a good experience with Aviva and that's who I'm using next.

I have been a loyal and TROUBLE FREE customer of Saga for many years, car and house insurance.I must have had the mistaken impression that Saga was supposed to be a friend to the elderly but I am sorry to say how disappointed, appalled and disgusted Iam when I received my renewal notice for my car insurance. My current year cost £290,the renewal figure is £390,an increase of £107 (there has been no claims incidently),totally unacceptable. If they had said that they weren’t insuring people of my age (83) I would have thought no more about it but this increase is definitely out of order.I did complain on the phone, they reduced the quotation by a derisory amount,I am waiting shortly for my house insurance renewal,no doubt it will be the same.As I said previously that I thought that Saga was a friend to the elderly, thus the old cliche “Who needs enemies when you have friends like these? I have never in my life put pen to paper to complain like this but I feel so strongly about matter that I felt that I must let any future costomers to be careful.

Had a water escape from a toilet at 0600 am, as we had Home Emergency Cover I called them for assistance. I was told, we don't have your policy number on file. I explained I had the certificate in front of me and it was still valid. The man o the phone said we are AXA and Saga have not given us your details so you will have to call them later. All this time I had a water escape which I couldn't stop. We called back at 0800 to be told Saga dont start until 0830. My wife stayed off work and called back at 0830 to be told Dynorod would call you within 2 hours. 7 hours later , yes 7 hours, Dynorod called to say they would be with us between 1200-1700, the next day! I quote from the policy booklet 'What is a home emergency? Put simply, for the purpose of the policy a home emergency is an event that happens suddenly and unexpectedly and needs IMMEDIATE action to a, prevent damage or further damage to your home or b make your home safe secure and inhabitable.' By 1630 today, we had heard nothing from AXA, Saga or Dynorod. I must say that at 6pm last night I called an emergency plumber at my own expense who attended within 30 minutes and had the job done an hour later. Just called Saga, who told me it was nothing to do with them, even though they sold me the Saga Home Emergency policy, and was AXAs problem. Apparently, Dynorod cancelled the job (nice of them). Would not now buy anything off Saga, they are a disgrace.

Immediate payment was made to the company regarding a travel insurance policy. No record of policy sent to email or listed on Saga account. Have since returned home to discover they are trying to demand payment for the policy again as an overpayment, chasing up through email and physical post. Not impressed with the lack of organisation and administration the company has and would am seriously discouraged from using them in future.
