Part One: My mother's car insurance was £633 last year. We cancelled a week ago (and got a refund) because her car died. Earmarked a new car (smaller engine) and went back to Saga for a quote for the new car. Nothing had changed except the new car. She's been driving for over 65 years, no accidents, no claims. The new quote was £1750!!!!!!! WTF!! I then got on the phone and told Saga to redo the quote with me (daughter, woman driver, 57, no accidents, 30 years qualified) as legal owner of the car and policy holder.....£1500!!! We said thanks and rung off. No way! Part Two: Early May '23 we got a renewal notice for home insurance for later that month. Come November '23 we get an email from Saga saying they had somehow NOT renewed our home policy (6 months with no house cover!). We got it sorted but were still charged for the whole year despite not having cover for 6 months of that year. The cost was £751 ('23/'24) Part Three. I noticed on my mother's banking app today (22/5/24) that the first quarterly payment for home insurance has been taken from my mother's bank account. This year's premium is £1214!!! We had no renewal notice and I know this because I keep an eye on my mother's mail for stuff like this. I also know we didn't get renewal notice because if we had we would have cancelled on the spot. You don't ignore an increase of nearly £500!! I will be cancelling tomorrow. I have quotes for car and home insurance from other (reputable) sources and they put Saga to shame many, many times over. I'm still utterly speechless!!

I had a renewal letter from Saga giving me a quote for my car insurance, which last year was £645.38, I have been driving for over 60 years with no claims. This new quote for the same car, same cover was £1,735.49. Tried to cancel the renewal online, but their website is constructed so that you have to make a phone call to do this. Easy enough to buy insurance on line with them - but just you try to cancel the renewal online. I waited 30 minutes on the phone and finally managed to cancel my car insurance with them. Then they asked the reason... was just because of the price!!!!. I have since found an equal cover from another provider for just a little more than last year's cover with Saga. Do not use Saga they are useless, and very unfair.

Absolutely terrible for car insurance, documents don't exist on their website, they never answer phone, their chat on we chat is shocking, the car insurance literally doubled this year, also took out European breakdown cover, we broke down and the emergency breakdown number didn't even work, they never answer the phone. ABSOLUTELY USLESS SAGA CAR INSURANCE.

£100 higher premium this year despite no claims, and no policy changes. Their 'best I can do I'm afraid' offer to retain my custom was £20 off.....no thanks!

Never been able to get my documents, tried again today and talked to an advisor who promised to email them but all they did was send me the online link which doesn't work. Complete gangf*ck company.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY - THEY ARE USELESS!!!! Landlord Insurance policy due for renewal this year. Just received a quote for more than 120% of what I paid last year. To try to actually speak to somebody is a joke. I have been calling for hours every day for the last 3 days to try to speak to someone to cancel this policy. Customer Service is non-existent. I've left 1 star because I couldn't leave nothing. I will be cancelling this policy - probably have to cancel it by post (as recommended in their cancellation paragraph!) I mean who uses Snail Mail in 2024!!! Cannot emphasise enough how useless this company is!

I have tried twice today to call the renewal department - held once for over 40 minutes and just now for 25 minutes - and still they haven't answered. Recorded message says wait time is 15 minutes. Not a good impression for a new customer.

Absolutely awful, still waiting for someone to pick up on their car renewal phone line after 40 minutes of piped music. Will not renew with them again.

Insured with SAGA for around 10 years and never ever with 'auto payment' because after about 4 years every time they increased premium on 2 cars, but by about 10% max., and each time I called and got it back down to almost last year's premium. But like others here, I just got renewals on the 2 cars: one up by 80% and the other 100%! No changes to anything- same address, no claims, no tickets etc etc. Before I called them, I went online and spent 3 hours on multiple sites and even managed to find quote from comparable insurers (i.e. not horror ones like single employee with a website) like RAC, AA etc. And, I saw 80% of the quotes in a long list were around the same low ices. So I called, and spent 10 minutes laughing hysterically at the script of defences that I am faimiliar with as I cop them every time I have called them: "prices went up", sure, say 10% as allowed- not 80 and 100%, "more claims for the industry" (yawn yawn), really guys? the UK motor industry in 2023-2024 'exploded' in claims?, and my favourite of all time, "we use a panel of 10 underwriters and pick the cheapest"- really? So. I can go online on comparison websites and even selected individual insurers where 80% of insurance quotes are LOWER than last years making them 90-120% ish lower than the renewals that SAGA tried to double? Wow...so the same underwiters have 'suddenly' whacked up their costs and yet the majority of the insurance sector can even lower my premiums? What a joke. The 'best offer' from Saga? "We can reduce your premium as a loyal customer by £20" Lol!!!!! And this ius why the legislation changes that came in to try and stop insurers gouging existing customers are an absolute farce! Search on this and you will find many money experts who outline exactly what I found- insurers use all sorts of 'technicalities' like "you bought the insurance over the phone and it was between 13:01-13:05 so sorry, our lower premiums for renewal only applied to the window of 15:01-15:02 and only on a Wednesday..." (exaggerated but you get the point). So SAGA, this is a joke. The fact that I can find dozens and dozens of insurers that can insure the cars even lower than last year's premiums make a mockery of every scripted excuse provided and are clearly gouging to a disgusting extreme. And do we really wonder why inflation keeps getting driven up? I will never ever go back to SAGA. The 'justifications' for doubling premiums are embarrassing and dont stack up against the industry. Will avoid and ensure I spread the word wherever appropriate.

Rang this morning to advise you that I have bought a new car. A young man by the name of Tim made the necessary changes to my policy and could not have been more helpful or more pleasant to deal with. If all your employees are like him then you can’t go far wrong.

Having been insured with Saga for 16 years and on second year of fixed price policy contacted Saga to inform them I had changed the number plate. Within 2 hours I received email confirmation of the change with a new renewal charge which was 3 times more than my current amount! Tried unsuccessfully to call so emailed Saga CS to complain about the increase for purely changing the number plate and received an email cancelling my policy! Clearly Saga are not interested in customer satisfaction any longer, just profit! Have found equitable policy elsewhere. Think twice before committing to this company, there’s plenty of competition out there

Just returned from Wild India. It was a fabulous experience from beginning to end. Our tour manager Rachit Singh was superb. Always smiling and very knowledgeable and helpful. His English was excellent unlike some of the safari guides who were difficult to understand at times. That said they made sure if there was something to see we saw it. In total I saw 19 tigers and a leopard , plus numerous deer and birds. The accommodation and food was good but the 10 seater coaches were a bit cramped with nowhere to stow hand luggage. As we had some quite lengthy journeys a little more room would have been appreciated. The train journey was good and the porters who carried our bags on their heads were unbelievable. If you want to see tigers this holiday is highly recommended 5*++
