Absolutely shocking service at this bank and getting worse. I have tried to make a payment on my account today and immediately had my account blocked which has happened before. I have been on the phone now with Santander for 1 hour 41 mins waiting for an answer and been cut off 3 times. Santander texted me to say they had tried to call me but that is an absolute lie as they haven't. I understand security is an issue but don't block accounts on first attempt, mickey mouse bank that can perhaps deal with children's savings but not a serious bank in any way. If you are going to close accounts you have to be available immediately to unlock or ask questions first before you block. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE ! GOING TO OPEN A NEW ACCOUNT NOW AND SUGGEST YOU ALL DO THE SAME. Now 1 hour 46 mins and still no answer !!!!!! Call wait went to 2 hours 5 mins yesterday, got through today after 20 mins and then cut off again.

This bank is worst when it comes to them giving you a loan for a car. If you ever get behind they leave you out in the cold with trying to get caught up. They say there nothing they can do for example to push the past due to end of the loan. There response the account is too new, but when a loan gets six months out. It's not considered new and other banks take care of there customers BUYERS BE AWARE

2 days ago I was locked out of my online account as I was attempting to transfer a large amount over several days to an ISA and their security department stopped the last transfer - OK so far. I called them on the number advised by SMS and waited 30 mins - decided to try again in office hours. Waited 10mins on the security number and decided to try again via my ‘select’ direct line -waited on that line for 20 mins and when eventually answered they had to transfer me to the security department to unlock my account and I waited another 40 mins for an answer. Sorted eventually until yesterday evening I got another security message stating they had stopped a transaction due to lack of funds - checked online and all appeared - all transfers had been honoured and I was in credit. Concerned this could be a scam or error - tried today to contact via ‘select’ - gave up after waiting 30 mins. Circa 2 hours wasted waiting for them to answer altogether!

Today I received a telephone call of the person purchasing my car ( Mazda Reg K19SYU now DU16PNX ) that he was no longer going to buy my car at £13150 due to it having outstanding finance registered against it¬! I paid for a HPI check and was informed that you have this credit agreement on my car. I telephoned several times today and at 14.46 asked for a complaint with a view to compensation being registered. The customer service person ( Harry ) Told me that he tried to register my complaint but was not permitted as a manager needs to speak to me first so he would get me a call back straight away. As this never happened I telephoned back at 15.55 and spoke to Shaun who informed me there was no way i was getting a call off a manager and that there was no notes on my account. I have sent you a copy of the voice conversation with Harry who I presume has lied. Please register this as a complaint and I am now seeking compensation for the loss of my sale and my day spent chasing you around.

Dreadful bank. Locked me out of my account and I spent 1 hour trying to get through to the number advised to me. I was then told that I needed to be transferred to the security department. Now waiting more than 30 minutes to speak to someone but I will probably be cut off.

So I wasnt doing any big money transactions o only wanted a few pounds keep me going but I had to go into my Rutherglen branch as I lost my card 🙃 anyhow Catriona your an angel you just cheered me right up, your customer care and attention were perfect thanks Catriona btw everyone in my branch is lovely 5stars all round

My card got taken by an ATM and then money was taken fraudulently however Santander are refusing to refund my money and they want me to investigate and find the criminals and once I have given them everything they may refund my money. They are basically saying that they are happy to take my money every month and use it to make money with but when I have an issue its my responsibility to find the criminals. Santander are a cowboy bank and do not have any idea of how to treat customer so stay away if you value your money. if you are happy to receive no help when help is needed or if you are happy to wait for over 1 hour to speak to someone then Santander is the bank for you. use any bank but Santander!!!!

I have a car loan with Santander bank , they are worst 😑 I made over 12 payments on the loan , and they don't even update the account, they said evey time I make a payment 3 months in advance, it going to the principal not the payment? Idk I think it's bank fraud

My card payment would not go through despite verifying it on the app. Very embarrassing as trying to pay a hotel bill. Have tried several times over the last week without success. Have been trying to speak to someone for 2 days but no answer even after holding for over an hour.

WAITED FOR 1hr 35mins TO GET CALL PUT THROUGH. DESPITE AMENDING MY DIRECT DEBIT INSTRUCTIONS TO TAKE THE MINIMUM THIS WAS IGNORED AND TOOK £500+ INSTEAD. SO IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE DIRECT DEBIT AMOUNT ONLINE APPARENTLY IT TAKES TWO CYCLES/MONTHS FOR THIS TO BE IMPLEMENTED. SANTANDER REFUSED TO RETURN THE OVERPAYMENT OR REMEDY THE SITUATION AND THE COMPLAINTS DEPARTMENT TOTALLY UNHELPFUL. I HAD COVID AND NO SICK PAY AND PHONING THEM IS AN LONG AND ARDUOUS TASK FOR WHICH THEY ARE UNREPENTANT. OBNOXIOUS PEOPLE = OBNOXIOUS COMPANY.

Santander are terrible! The customer service is unbelievably bad! My card was stolen yesterday and I need to dispute some payments - unfortunately there's no way to do this online. I've spent HOURS on hold (both days) and I still haven't got through to the right department. The most recent call I finally got through to someone on the main switchboard (because they don't give a direct number for the fraud/security dept??) and he put me in the queue for security, 1 hour and 35 minutes later I finally got through and they told me I was through to the wrong department (the helpdesk put me in the queue for bill fraud and i needed card fraud) so she had to put me back in the right queue. Definitely changing banks and very close to just giving up on having the payments investigated

Would give no stars if possible. Blocked my 87 year old, housebound mother's account following a mistake they made. Insisting she visits a branch to verify her ID despite having spoken to her on the telephone after being on hold for an hour and 40 minutes. Local branch closed in August last year so I will have to try and get her in a wheelchair after driving miles. On arrival at branch will be closing the account. Bank elsewhere. Rubbish bank and appalling customer service.

Lock you out at random, no explanation, but your payments on hold, try to get through to them a number of times as you have no choice at all apart from to call them, always on hold over an hour, then get put through to the correct department, then on hold again, then get cut off. And they hold your money and account hostage. Absolutely disgusting. Not recommended in the slightest.

I'd just like to add my story too, I think others would like to hear it. I`ve been struggling for several years with my car loan, as I had indemnity fraud in the past, and my credit score dropped down. Originally, I bought a car with 29% APR, then I refinanced twice, the lowest I had -12.99%. It was so high, my heart was bleeding every time I wrote the check. I applied to build up my credit score and remove every collection with the aid of Rock Base whom I contacted via his (ROCKBASE @PROTONMAIL .COM) after some days he told me he's done which I also confirmed on my credit profile. I reapplied for refinance 3-d time, and got several offers, Logix won, amazing 4.5% APR, I couldn't even dream about that. And for one hour spent in Branch, they opened a checking account, refinanced my car, provided credit card, that also helps build the credit, loan I applied for was granted. I even got a debit card right away. I was told they will reduce my car loan. I am so happy, it’s like I got out of a financial trap I’ve been in for several years.

I once saw a comment on giffgaff about XAP CREDIT SOLUTION and how they helped a certain Noah Davidson, I became curious and wondered if they could help me fix my poor Credit and eliminate bad debts. Well with my fingers crossed, I gave them a try, eventually they fixed my Credit and gave me a reason to smile and be happy again. Having spent the best part of 6 months getting my mortgage application ready due to being self employed, and having it agreed in principal. To being told I am ineligible due to the way I run my 25 year old business, on the day Santander have squandered millions is a bit ironic. I wonder if anyone in these banks have watched It's a Wonderful Life!

My dad banks with Santander it locked my dads bank account when his cheque book ran out we are still unable to pay the care home this has been going on for nearly a year my dad may well get kicked or taken to court this bank will not let close his account and move it else are I hate this bank it needs to close down as they are now keeping dads pension money

Worst bank in the UK! 38 minutes wasted on the phone to be told that my money could not be transferred from one account to another as there is no voice ID on my account. Yet money has been transferred twice before! Waste of space, waste of time. No empathy or understanding from the 2 people I spoke with. Rubbish bank. Zero STARS! I am taking my custom elsewhere. Goodbye trash bank!!

Opened a non resident account and was not told they will charge €16 a month so the€50 I deposited will be gone and I will be overdrawn before I get back in march, so will probably have big charges to pay. I wouldn't have opened it untill march when I would need it if they had told me Also Santander UK can't help me sort it out.
