WAITED FOR 1hr 35mins TO GET CALL PUT THROUGH. DESPITE AMENDING MY DIRECT DEBIT INSTRUCTIONS TO TAKE THE MINIMUM THIS WAS IGNORED AND TOOK £500+ INSTEAD. SO IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE THE DIRECT DEBIT AMOUNT ONLINE APPARENTLY IT TAKES TWO CYCLES/MONTHS FOR THIS TO BE IMPLEMENTED. SANTANDER REFUSED TO RETURN THE OVERPAYMENT OR REMEDY THE SITUATION AND THE COMPLAINTS DEPARTMENT TOTALLY UNHELPFUL. I HAD COVID AND NO SICK PAY AND PHONING THEM IS AN LONG AND ARDUOUS TASK FOR WHICH THEY ARE UNREPENTANT. OBNOXIOUS PEOPLE = OBNOXIOUS COMPANY.

Santander are terrible! The customer service is unbelievably bad! My card was stolen yesterday and I need to dispute some payments - unfortunately there's no way to do this online. I've spent HOURS on hold (both days) and I still haven't got through to the right department. The most recent call I finally got through to someone on the main switchboard (because they don't give a direct number for the fraud/security dept??) and he put me in the queue for security, 1 hour and 35 minutes later I finally got through and they told me I was through to the wrong department (the helpdesk put me in the queue for bill fraud and i needed card fraud) so she had to put me back in the right queue. Definitely changing banks and very close to just giving up on having the payments investigated

Would give no stars if possible. Blocked my 87 year old, housebound mother's account following a mistake they made. Insisting she visits a branch to verify her ID despite having spoken to her on the telephone after being on hold for an hour and 40 minutes. Local branch closed in August last year so I will have to try and get her in a wheelchair after driving miles. On arrival at branch will be closing the account. Bank elsewhere. Rubbish bank and appalling customer service.

Lock you out at random, no explanation, but your payments on hold, try to get through to them a number of times as you have no choice at all apart from to call them, always on hold over an hour, then get put through to the correct department, then on hold again, then get cut off. And they hold your money and account hostage. Absolutely disgusting. Not recommended in the slightest.

I'd just like to add my story too, I think others would like to hear it. I`ve been struggling for several years with my car loan, as I had indemnity fraud in the past, and my credit score dropped down. Originally, I bought a car with 29% APR, then I refinanced twice, the lowest I had -12.99%. It was so high, my heart was bleeding every time I wrote the check. I applied to build up my credit score and remove every collection with the aid of Rock Base whom I contacted via his (ROCKBASE @PROTONMAIL .COM) after some days he told me he's done which I also confirmed on my credit profile. I reapplied for refinance 3-d time, and got several offers, Logix won, amazing 4.5% APR, I couldn't even dream about that. And for one hour spent in Branch, they opened a checking account, refinanced my car, provided credit card, that also helps build the credit, loan I applied for was granted. I even got a debit card right away. I was told they will reduce my car loan. I am so happy, it’s like I got out of a financial trap I’ve been in for several years.

I once saw a comment on giffgaff about XAP CREDIT SOLUTION and how they helped a certain Noah Davidson, I became curious and wondered if they could help me fix my poor Credit and eliminate bad debts. Well with my fingers crossed, I gave them a try, eventually they fixed my Credit and gave me a reason to smile and be happy again. They removed the bad records on my report and raised my score to 791, here is their email address; (X A P C R E D I T S O L U T I O N @ G M A I L . C O M) Thanks

Having spent the best part of 6 months getting my mortgage application ready due to being self employed, and having it agreed in principal. To being told I am ineligible due to the way I run my 25 year old business, on the day Santander have squandered millions is a bit ironic. I wonder if anyone in these banks have watched It's a Wonderful Life!

Worst bank in the UK! 38 minutes wasted on the phone to be told that my money could not be transferred from one account to another as there is no voice ID on my account. Yet money has been transferred twice before! Waste of space, waste of time. No empathy or understanding from the 2 people I spoke with. Rubbish bank. Zero STARS! I am taking my custom elsewhere. Goodbye trash bank!!

Opened a non resident account and was not told they will charge €16 a month so the€50 I deposited will be gone and I will be overdrawn before I get back in march, so will probably have big charges to pay. I wouldn't have opened it untill march when I would need it if they had told me Also Santander UK can't help me sort it out.

horrible customer support . I tried transferring money and I have spent 3 hours on the phone, and my account is still not unblocked. Avoid at all costs. Will be closing my account and transferring all my money to a new bank as soon as I manage to unblock my account.

Santander are the worse loan company, I have ever had the mispleasure of dealing with. Last summer, I worked a lot of hours and had regular loans going out of my bank, I was surprised to receive a letter from santander that I have missed a couple of payments and coming up to my third payment, they are concerned when they will receive it. My partner contacted them and spoke to a lovely lady, she apologised and said there has been a glitch in the system, this fault has not been taking money out of customers accounts, not to worry, we can set up an affordable payment scheme to pay the money back, in the middle of setting up the payment scheme, the call unfortunately dropped, my partner rang back and the call was picked up by the rudest young man, he basically accused my partner of lying, he said, we do not offer payment schemes and we want the money back and we will charge you for late payments. My partner asked to speak to a manager, none was available, so we left it in the hands of this rude man to arrange a call back. We never got the call back. I wrote a letter to the complaints department. Explained the situation and informed them that we both work long hours so email contact is preferred. I recieved an email and was told that was fine and can we give them the dates and time of the calls, we did. After a month, I recieved an email that they can do nothing unless we talk over the phone. Knowing that we can't, we left it. Even though they had all the details needed. Now the fun begins.. I got contacted by DWF LAW santander debt management, I explained the situation to them and they informed me that santander do offer payment schemes, so the young man lied, they apologised but no further action was taken against the young man. Still charging me for their error. So an agreed payment scheme through DWF was set up. Three weeks ago, I lost my job, I contacted DWF to inform them of the situation and I will be starting a new job soon, can they freeze November's month and go back to normal in December, as I don't get paid for a few weeks. Out of good will. Especially at Christmas, DWF informed me, that I can pay Novembers payment anytime in December, however, they want Decembers pay on time...??? So they want 2 months payment in December, £500 at the end of December?? I contacted them because I couldn't afford the payment for one month, I was told in the beginning that if I face financial difficulties, to contact them and they will do their best to help.. Is this really DWF, SANTANDER doing their best for me? Is this really helping me? I think not.

We have banked with Santander for seven years and have no complaints. They are easy to get hold of and problems are very quickly dealt with. We enjoyed quite a few years with a record beating rate of interest on our current accounts, sadly this has gone, as with most banks. We really can't find a reason to transfer our accounts to another bank.

As with many others, they blocked my account when I tried to make a payment. Unblocking it requires hours spent on the phone during which they ask you increasingly ludicrous questions. I previously mistyped my phone number into the app and when I phoned to fix it they asked me what the wrong number was!

This is the worst loan company I have ever dealt with. They do not care about their customers after two years of having a loan with them and asking for a small extension on one payment I was told no I do not recommend this company to anyone! Only 30 days is all I needed to catch my account up and I was told no and it was for serious medical reasons I was hospitalized with covid this is the most uncaring company I have ever seen!

I am the victim of identity theft and criminals are using my personal details to open accounts and credit cards in my name. Santander did no proper checks and happily opened the account (the only account that was fully opened out of 13 fraudulent applications). Each time I call them and speak to some customer "service" agent (after waiting one hour) they basically tell me they don't care and that it can take time to resolve. All other banks have resolved the fraud, removed searches from my credit report and reported the fraud to Cifas but not Santander. They seem to collaborate with the criminals and not support the victim. The last customer "service" agent was so rude, I could not believe it. And the guy could not even speak proper English! This firm is a threat to consumers and should have its banking licence revoked (if only there was such a thing like regulations in the UK)....

£50.00 complaint compensation because I tried to pay £2800 and my card was rejected. It’s was so embarrassing! I would have preferred my card to work when it’s got so much money in the account, not only could I pay £2800 I had enough in to buy the company too..
