“I ordered a Keswick 3 seater settee, 1 armchair and a recliner, costing nearly £4,000. After 12 months I noticed the light & dark patchy seat covers. I complained to the retailer, Harwoods of Frinton who asked for photos and forwarded them to Sherbornes. According to Sherbornes the seats should be "dressed" after sitting on them! How ridiculous. Never had this type of problem with previous suites I have purchased. I have got absolutely nowhere with the company and retailer ignores my emails. What do I do next? Sherbornes don't appear to belong to a trade association so I don't think I can take it to an ombudsman. How do I get rid of it? If I put it on line with photos one look at it would put anybody off!”
“Freedom approaches, I’m getting rid of my Sherborne riser recliner and getting a new chair from *******. Can’t wait, I’ve had this chair for five years and hated it from day one, every time I use the riser element I get a metal joint which pokes me in the centre of my rear end, the left side arm rest the padding has gone soft and the wooden frame cuts into the nerve in my elbow and no matter what I do I just cannot get comfortably seated. I ordered a single motor chair and realised on day one that it was horrible got in touch with Sherbourn via my retailer asking if they could assist in any way and came away with the feeling that Sherbourn were having a good laugh, customer service ZERO. Realised today that this page existed and decided to add my warnings to those above, please, please don’t waste your money, spend a bit more and get the real thing, I wish I had. As the demonstrator from ******* said “Sorry, as I said to you when we last met, buy rubbish buy twice”. Which is what I’m doing now.”
“Lost money on 2 Sherborne sofas that were ordered from Lucus Furniture in Aylesbury with a smell of mould coming from arms and wings of both sofas. Always smelt worse in the evening when doors and windows closed. They cost £3600 and only received £2880 back from the retailer who took the rest to sell this faulty furniture. No help from Sherborne and complete denial and whitewash from retailer. Horrible experience and will never know what was coming out of the sofas and what risk it posed.”
“We purchased 2 rise and recline and a 3 seater sofa after several visits from the manager at Ashbrooks and Sherbourne rep themselves we really were fob off by them saying the material was prone to looking shadowed now the frame of both chairs are going one chair the arm is nearly off whilst the other chair the seat has sunk Dreadful quality costing £4,000 plus. I have had a previous rise and recline which I had many years with nothing wrong with it. Wouldn't recommend.”
“I bought 2 × 2 Olivia recliner sofas from an independent shop after being advised that I wouldn't be disappointed. After they were delivered I noticed that the leather on one of the flaps at the back of one of the sofas was very slack. I complained to the shop and was told that they would have to see the problem for themselves. I noticed within a couple of days that the cushion that I sat on was going down further than I would have expected and giving me a sore back. When the person came to inspect them they told me that there was nothing wrong with them! Someone from Homeserve came out to inspect the sofas but told me there wasn't much could be done. I got in touch with a newspaper who tries to help people get their money back. Within a few weeks I got a full refund. I would never buy from Sherborne again as there furniture is rubbish and would advise people to avoid this company at all costs.”
“Not impressed with sherborne a very poor quality experience not any after sales help they sent us two chairs that had electrical faults so the chairs didn't work the company we purchased from has been so helpful and it is the the hand of sherborne but they seem to not worry they should refund us the money or send two new chairs that work appalling company”
“POOR QUALITY CHAIR
Please don't buy leather furniture from Sherborne I bought a leather chair two years ago. Where your hands, arms and head rest all the dye has come out and faded. We bought it from Stone Dam Mills they have been very good took photos and sent them to Sherborne they said its out of guarantee and perspiration and oil from skin has caused it. This is rubbish I have got a 30 year old leather chair, not from Sherborne may I add that has had no problem and my sister has a chesterfield which is 25 years old which has had no problem other than normal wear. It cost me £1100 and I could have got better for less than half this price. Please don't buy from these so called quality people please don't buy Sherborne rubbish you will be sorry.

“The upholstery on our three piece suite is really poor and creased. We’ve had it a while now but complained immediately on delivery - it just continues to get worse. Shop we bought it from are not at fault - they have helped all they can. Furniture returned to Sherborne who say there is nothing wrong with it - we disagree. Short of fighting a court case - we cannot afford to do it - we are lumbered with it. We will never purchase Sherborne again and couldn’t recommend it.”
“Being both disabled and in need of upgrading our aged recliners decided to purchase two Albany Royale recliners (dual motors) at a rather exorbitant price but they say you get what you pay for in quality. We waited in anticipation for about three weeks and received the biggest and most expensive pieces of junk I've seen. They are totally uncomfortable the rear wings are very hard on your back and on activating the twin motors separately I expected to be able to set the back in a position independent to the other axis this is not so as soon as you use the other motor it ruins the rear setting. this has left my wife and I severely out of pocket and unable to replace. It also tells me two other things don't trust the shop you purchased them from price etc and never to purchase from Sherborne ever again so don't waste your money or your time.”
“ordered 2 virginia riser recliners, both faulty, sherborne sent engineers and he agreed not fit for purpose. Shop I purchased from arranged for 2 more to be delivered only unloaded one and found still not good so delivery men decided to return I old one and one unpacked one to go back, now Sherborne say nothing wrong with them even though their engineer they sent said differently. Now shop is fighting them for refund.Service not good at all, faults were crooked mechanism and both rock, when reclined the back corners of both chairs hit the floor. The shop I am dealing with has been working hard on my behalf no fault on their side”
“We ordered the Sherborne Keswick from David Phipps when we received the sofas we were shocked that the quality and the amount of creasing in the material the units was sent back the sofa was made up of a 3 seater and a 2 seater this was 5 sections out of the 5 only 1 was to standard it was then returned and only 2 were to standard was told that the material we chosen was new so it was redone in there normal material but when we got it back it was worse if you compare what was on the advertising photos to what we received was not even close if we wanted second hand we have gone to a second hand shop
We have friends that have had their Sherborne sofa for five years and looks new ours look like it's 30 years old
Have now been told that they can not produce the product and can not get a refund”
