“Shift's website looks great, very shiny, great ux and looks super slick. Big banners about the network of their '10000 drivers' and great customer experiences. Dont be fooled.
I got quotes from shift and anyvan and shift was less than half the price at the time i thought what a bargain, should have been the first red flag.
I got an email after a day or two stating they were yet to find a driver to do the job. Given that the job was very time sensitive I wanted to clarify when i could expect to get a driver allocated and if i could cancel free of charge if they weren't able to find a driver. The only way to contact them is via there instant message service where you can jump through various hoops trying to talk to an actual person instead of a bot. When I got through to someone, they were marginally better than the bot but had there standard script from which they could not deviate, they didnt know if they would find a driver and no... as stated in ts & cs I wouldnt get a full refund. How helpful.
They did find a driver in the end...phew great news. The status updates on the website are pretty useless. They have a map of the route implying it gives live updates of the drivers whereabouts...it does not. Tried to contact the driver...no answer, full answerphone. Driver and additional shifter did turn up to pick up the fridge freezer so no worries. Turned up at my house a bit later. They then struggled to get the fridge freezer out of the van, the second shifter was just not strong enough. I ended up helping them with finally getting the fridge in the garage. They said goodbye and it wasn't until then I noticed the damage to the fridge. I contacted shift and explained the situation. Cue generic message number 2..."as stated in ts and cs you need to contact your driver about compensation"....they are no longer our drivers, we are actually just an agent with a shiny website. We can't offer compensation, we can't act as a proper intermediary and deal with issues. We aren't even as good as uber. the Customer services team just have a standard script and offer no assistance just saying they are 'sincerely sorry but theres just nothing we can do' and 'you should have read the t's and c's you idiot' (paraphrasing).
It's cheap but you get what you pay for. All style and no substance. Just dont. Go and use a proper mover instead of this folly. I'm furious in case you couldnt tell.”
“Don’t go for this company. The driver didn’t show up. The customer service didn’t call me I had to call them to know that the driver was not coming.
The customer service told me that I will have my money back and I have been waiting for one month without receiving anything yet (despite all my mails.)

When I finally got through to them to get a refund, they insisted on charging me a “cancellation fee” which was equal to what I initially paid. Don’t be fooled by the advertising!”
“This company we paid £102.00 to "shift" a fridge freezer which was brand new to another address. Their team did not arrive, did not try contact us, and did not collect the fridge. They said they were waiting for 2 hours at the address but could not get ahold of anybody however this was a lie.
BE CAREFUL. THEIR T&Cs mean they do not have to give you a refund and will refuse even if they do not show to do the job. LIARS and CON ARTISTS. Stay clear.”
“I paid for a 2 hour window slot. The courier, Malik, turned up 1.5 hours late, after having a 2 hours window slot 9am - 11am.
I was misinformed he had arrived, by text message, at 10:31am then called at 10:45 to say he'd be another 30mins. No further communication but advised by the person Malik was picking up from he came 1.5 hours later. He then spent 3 hours getting the items to the location the journey time is under 2 hours in traffic). Again with no communication.
I was advised that there would be compensation, however having had the 'customer service' team confirm the drive did turn up late no compensation. Not even the payment for the 2 hour window has been offered. Just company lines of 'thanks for your patience'
I will never be using this company again, stick to Any Van!”
“It's an OBVIOUS SCAM. Tried to book a man van today with shift.online & it failed to find me a driver . There is no where you can contact them, no phone number on their website and you are endlessly speaking to a BOT trying to seek some info of your order - it responds with automated messages none helpful. After ages of waiting for a response, I decided to cancel and for no good reason I have been charged a £4.99 cancellation fee !!

“I affirm all the negative reviews. Booked and paid for 1-3pm slot. By 4pm still no driver and customer services could not locate him. When they did he lied that he was here albeit my CCTV clearly showing not. Re-booked for 7-8pm. A repeat with no show, no accountability from customer services and no cares to assist. Essentially told me it’s my problem they can’t assist me! Do not use. The rating on their website is fake. Focus on independent ratings”
“Terrible company and terrible customer service. My driver didn't arrive and didn't even answer his phone when I was trying to reach him. I spent 1.5h on the live chat 'talking' to one of the customer advisors who seemed to not care at all. I was waiting between 10 and 20 minutes for every single reply from them. I have been offered rescheduling my booking - when I asked if they can assure me that this time the driver will arrive, I have been informed that they "cannot assure that"... In result, I requested a refund however it turned out that the booking fee is non-refundable so eventually (even though it was clearly their mistake) I lost money anyway. Not recommended!!”

“Bought a chest of drawers from IKEA. Paid for the delivery.
On the day of delivery I was contacted by (? driver) who stated that my purchase was damaged and whether I still wanted it in its damaged state. I refused and have been trying to get a refund since 6 July.
I was eventually refunded for delivery because the chest of drawers weren't delivered. I am still awaiting either a replacement chest of drawers or a refund.
Shift do not respond to emails and rarely answer their phone. I have had to resort to going back to their delivery desk in IKEA. Even thought I'm reassured somebody will contact me re my request, I am still waiting. Well, Shift owes me and I'm determined to get this resolved.”
