“Letter sent to Specsavers waiting an answer.
On 6th August 2020 at 8.30am it was my idea to have my single pair of glasses with a more cheaper frame of £69 more than spending £129 and the information previously received from you were enough to make such decision to get at Fitzroy Brunch in Cambridge the single pair of glasses.
Unfortunately a very shabby member of your staff as he had the shirt very untidy with no tag’s name acting as manager calling himself as Mr Sha.... said to me that I was coming in the brunch too often and it would take me in the shop if I was prepare to buy something .
I called this kind of behaviour the cow boy of the retailing forcing people with abuse behaviour and attitude. Clearly I felt after this arrogant behaviour no particularly happy to deal with the continuity of purchasing the glasses and I left.
Is this the way you are training your staff? No I do not think so, so put right now before this element is getting over the concept and philosophy of Specsavers with a more damaging result
If requires more details please let me know, I do not think everybody needs to be punished for an element where should not be in the medical retailing at all.
Please note that if you buy a prescription glasses at Spec you get one nearly free as 2 for 1, but if you want only a pair of glasses you get 20% discount and here it is not making any sense wondering the value of the frame as the lenses when you can have another for free.”
“Visited the Mansfield branch yesterday for a young family members eye test. It was absolutely packed every work station had a customer. Did not see any employee wearing face shields only the normal blue type. Considering how close both parties were sitting I was concerned and if we were not there due to an eye problem I would have left. I have a serious health condition so could not go in. Waited outside 15 minutes over the appt time. In all the appt took 2 HOURS! The worst Covid violation happened when trying frames at the end. The operator placed the tried frames back on the rack without sterilising them which was inexcusable. A different operator was heard to say to an older customer “pass them to me after trying and I’ll clean them”. Why has the manager not made that an absolute rule to all staff. Bad experience and will now take her prescription to a covid award optition.”
“I wanted to repair my glasses but was told I had to get a new frame, had them 6 months never again cheap frames went to my local in Athenry job done as good as new”
“Do not use Fulham store I have been overcharged and given different frames from which I had chosen. I have never received the so called phone call I was supposedly to have had to explain what had happened, obviously because he thought his actions would have no come back. I have used this store since it opened and always had excellent service. I will never use this again. Last week I purchased some hearing aids at Kensington store and the staff there were great. I will take my business there in future. Fulham lost out on a £1,995.00 sale. Go to Kensington for honesty.”
“I visited Anjlee in Specsavers Kensington for arrange for some hearing aids. I found her extremely reassuring, professional and very pleasant. It is important to be comfortable when going for such appointments, Anjlee made me feel extremely so. A week later I went to pick up my hearing aids and was so surprised at the amount of difference they made. This was because I had listened to her very knowledgeable advice. I am really pleased I chose this particular audiologist for my problem. I would recommend her 100%.”
“If I could give it no stars I would! Terrible service poor range of spectacles when I did get spectacles they did not fit properly and lenses were misaligned and then I am told I cannot get a refund unless a manager is in the store. I have been waiting for a refund now for 3 months. Do not use this store!”

1 star: Bad

I had my eyes tested a few days ago at…
I had my eyes tested a few days ago at Nuneaton store. Firstly they left me for an hour as they had forgot me. Everyone else was going in bar me. I had to go up to reception and ask why. The clip board with my information on was pushed right back and not sticking out like the others. The opticians never bothered to look in the slats so missed me.
Anyway I went in to have my eyes tested. She kept. Saying wrong things about me despite having my information on screen. So I am assuming she had someone else's. For instant she said I had my glasses for 4 years when in fact I had them 2. She didn't test my dey eye either. In fact the whole test was so rushed I am now so worried it was wrong and the glasses I paid £333 for will be wrong. The optician just wasn't interested in me whatsoever.
Then down stairs to choose some glasses. The lady I seen was awful was so rude and arrogant towards me. I could only pick 5 pairs. The sunglasses I wanted she didn't find and had to make do with some others which I don't particularly like. My other glasses were not my choice either but once again I was being rushed. She wasn't any help saying which looked nice and which didn't. And I feel the measurement for the varifocal will be wrong too as only did one eye and didn't do them for the sunglasses. So that will be wrong for sure. My sister in law who went the week before had brilliant service but I didn't for sure. That's why I went but next time will go elsewhere. I supposed to go every year to have my dey eye checked but the optician I seen must have been having a bad day as simply wasn't interested.
I did email my complaint 11 days ago but I have had no response. Hence putting this review on here.”
“Really bad customer service, tried to ask them about my Hackett glassed where the welding had broken and therefore the lense had popped out, they refused to help and advised that the glasses were out of warrenty and they could not offer to sell me a frame as the deal was frame and lenses... Upselling which is illegal. Total rubbish, never see my customs again. Prior to this I also had a lense problem where they told me it was acceptable to be out by +-0.5 therefore I had to get my local optician to put propper lenses in my other glasses.”
“Annoyed S Choudhury @ Specsavers Boscombe said I could not have proof of my new glasses being needed for VDU use; her reason being that they are for concentration and VDU, how do you not concentrate when using VDU and if VDU comes under use why can I not get proof?
So many hidden charges also shocked me and the amount of people in the building during this virus risk time.
All other staff were helpful though.
Also on my first visit I could not see the field test but had mentioned S Choudhury had told me to where my glasses, still they told me to take my glasses off; result I could not see the test. I have been going to this branch for years, but I shall not in future unless they provide me with the proof of VDU use.”
“Very poor quality glasses, paid £200 glasses broken just before lock down already taken one pair back, my glasses are just over a 12 months but 8 months old when broken staff very rude at the Hanley branch, saying that it was wear and tear and unwilling to changed the frames trying to charge me £45 which is a joke when you already paid £200 for the which don’t last a year I’ve worn glasses for 20 years and never had any so poorly made will never return to specsavers”
“Had an eye test last July, paid well over£400 for them, happy with my choice although on second”free pair” the lenses seemed stronger but haven’t worn those much. There was a quibble with the manager at the time as my husband also got new specs(again at £400plus) they insisted he had to pay an extra £5 because he asked for a different case. However the black coating on my Balmain frames started to flake off this April, I couldn’t get into the shop because of COVID and the branch was closed anyway, today, 17th July I went back, a member of staff looked at my frames and said it looked like normal wear and tear and would speak to the manager, she came back and said they were out of warranty so all they could do was offer me a golden ticket for a half price new pair as these were now obsolete! How can that be right, surely the goods aren’t of merchantable quality if they don’t last the 2 years to my next eye test. Walked out in disgust, never going back there again, neither is my husband, Mother, Son or Daughter. Non existent customer service, a charmless enterprise.”
“I have been taking my children here for along time and on a whole, they have been great, we missed appointments due to pandemic and the manager was so awful, I am in shock about the way he spoke to us, after informing him about my son being disabled, and we have had to shield, he said i was emotionally blackmailing him! I am disgusted, upset and was told to go elsewhere. Horrible man. John Mulsworth!”
“Since yesterday I tried to book an eye test appointment. The website didn't work (tried a few times), few times I rang the shop and when finally was able to talk to somebody, the call has been disconnected.
Well Specsavers - you just lost a customer.”
“Avoid!! Bad customer service, wrong prescription, couldn't see out of glasses, have tried specsavers 3 times over the years, has not improved in that time, bad quality frames, and eye tests not done correctly.”
“2 for 1 My Arse - What a Rip Off!!
Went into Winton branch for pair of reasonably priced readers, I’d seen a nice pair online so knew exactly what I was looking for. Following an eye test was advised my lens would not fit those frames and directed to frames that were suitable, albeit a lot more expensive. Reluctantly settled on a £99 pair, however, during the fitting stage was advised there would be a £75 charge for grinding the lens to fit the frame, this after I’d been told (and sold) the necessary frames! When I queried this the assistant dropped it to £45. Told him I didn’t have that sort of money to spend on glasses and didn’t want to proceed.
He then agreed to drop the The charge (Remember that next you buy glasses) When asked about the free second pair I was told this did not apply as they’d waived the grinding fees! I pointed out their was a 2for1 deal on single lens glasses, which is what I was purchasing. They wouldn’t have it so thought I’d write a shitty review to warn potential customers. Incidentally I did hear another customer being charged £250 for 2 pairs of glasses ...£80 above their £169 most expensive frames!
So
CAVEAT EMPTOR!”
“Poor quality products. Not value for money as frames do not last. Specsavers then want to charge to replace frames even though its manufacturer fault. Quality has always been suspect but previously problems were rectified. But now the staff are very unhelpful and some are rude. Head office not interested. Branches are franchised so were told nothing to do with Specsavers head office. Have used many times in the past but something has changed. Will never use again.”
“I had early morning appointment ,the doors where locked the look on all the staffs faces was the look of horror that a customer was at their door when the doors were opened a hand was shoved out for me to move away then in a rude manner I was told STAND OVER THERE
Its pathetic the way the staff behaved Get a grip no one is dying there is no ambulances rushing supposed contaminated people to the hospitals because the hospitals are practically empty there are no coffins laying on pavements and people are shoulder to shoulder plus speck saver staff had masks on one minute and the next minute were removing then so the could breath don't you know that wearing masks make you breath in your own c02 makes breathing a lot harder disrupts hearing because you have to talk a lot harder and putting a mask on then talking it of to eat is silly if you think your protected from a fake pandemic its all about control of the so called herd bringing in the new world order bringing in AI bringing in the digital dollar and 5G because humans are controlled by frequency do not let yourself be controlled don't be scared and live your life the way that's the best life for you”
