“Have had many new mens spectacles over the years with Specsavers and used to get wider frame with larger lens, now discontinued, the choice of frames in the mens section inc "designer"frames are all small meaning that the arms are pushed out and do not last long (my last 4 pairs from Specsavers have all broken arms). I stated this to the staff member with me and they agreed they should be wider. Does Specsavers think all male customers have a small face ?. I went for eye tests 24/06 and now having only 1 pair, with 1 arm held on by sellotape, I had to order new glasses even knowing they are not any good and won't last long. As a result In the future I have no choice but to go elsewhere”
“Rechargeable Hearing aids cost me nearly £2000 a pair. One failed a few weeks after fitting. At the time they had ordered some replacements in a different colour so I had replacement aids immediately. Now, a few months later one aid died when I removed it from the overnight charge. I contacted the department by email with no response, so I travelled into Brighton to hopefully get the aid repaired. I was told to leave then and come back later so I returned about 3 hours later to be told that they had not been looked at. I had to leave them with the department. I was telephoned later to be told that they had to be sent back for repair and would not be returned before 2 weeks. Fortunately I still have my NHS pair, but the service is appalling. Spare aids should be kept in stock so that if a catastrophic failure does occur a replacement one can be programmed very quickly. Specsavers value of service is abysmal. Very angry. I would not recommend Specsavers to anyone.”
“Saw you guys about three years ago when my husband was stationed in the UK and had glasses made told the doctor they were too strong... I go to a new stateside doctor at our new base and they said the glasses that I'm wearing now are to strong and my eyes are working to hard.....listen to your patients”
“I collected two pairs of glasses from the Lincoln branch in November 20 and found the left lens in each pair blurred my vision..returned to say I was not happy ..the female member of staff actually said I had to realise that when you
age your sight deteriorates and I had to accept that..told me to go home
and persevere with them...went home ..not happy... they were not the
right prescription....I returned and had another eye test. Lens's were
altered but they are still not perfect..I will not use Specsavers again..”
“Well, I wish I had read the reviews before using Specsavers again. My reading glasses broke and as I was due an eye test I thought I could kill two birds with one stone and buy some new frames at the same time. It took 2 weeks for two pairs, one for reading one for driving to be ready BUT, neither were any good, my old lenses were fine, the new, I could not see a dam thing with. Was told to persevere for 2 weeks and see if they settled in, my dam eyes, stressed, struggling to see on the recommendation of an optician, ????? can't be right! 2 weeks later still can't see through them, eyes re-tested and prescription completely different, now a further wait until new ones can be made. Not a good service and for sure, being told to stick with glasses, through which I could not see, placing my eyes under strain, hmmmmmm doesn't seem the correct advice to me. Think twice before using again.”
“These are my thoughts given on my experience at specsavers.
My first eye test revealed that both my eyes can wonder in opposite directions which is fact, however the Optician advised me to wear my new prescribed glasses all the time so I did that, after a few months I had been noticing changes with the strength of my eyes and concentrating was harder as my eyes could move around more. After a recent visit I had a test and my eyes have had a slight change so I have been given new lenses, The Optician then questioned how many times a day I would of usually worn the previous glasses, I told her all the time as that was advised to me and she was hesitant that I should not of been wearing them for normal day to day, just for when necessary eg: driving & reading. So with that I have been uncomfortable and it has also damaged my eyes over this time period. I was given false information and now I am considering eye surgery to fix the wondering. The Corona virus PPE was there and I felt safe but no extra lengths were seen example wiping surfaces? This experience has put me off going to Spec-savers unless I really need to. As something that was a small problem has now turned bigger and worsened my confidence. So I rate 2 stars for the PPE and new lenses. This was Hinckley branch”
“My Varifocal glasses from Specsavers are certainly not the best that I have had, I would describe them as just about acceptable. The main problem is that the nose pads keep coming off, you would think that in this day and age Specsavers would be able to overcome this problem and save me having to make a 10 mile round trip to get the glasses fixed. Not too happy !”
“First visit to specsavers years ago wasnt good but thought I'd give them another go, big mistake. Varifocals very cheap quality and my readers aren't as good as the cheap ones I got from the supermarket. I suppose you get what you pay for and no plans for a third visit.”
“I've always used Specsavers but after my recent visit I won't be going again. I'm 69 so don't pay for eye test, While I was waiting I chose 2 pairs from the£89 range with the thinner lenses which are dearer, plus the reaction lenses that are supposed to be free.Nothing is free in this world, and Specsavers is no exception. When it came time to pay I was told the price would have been£467.31,but they had managed to get it down to£349.31,saving me £118,I don't see where, not picking them up until next week, any problems even minor and I will be asking for a refund”
“3 x new glasses arrived, however they were extremely thick, I've not seen lenses that thick in nearly 30 years, also major issue with glare reflecting at multiple angles, not happy at all, arranged another home visit to return & arrange lense thinning ( wasn't even included the first time ) I advised major issue with glare also, paid over £60 for thinning of lenses however once new sets arrived it's very clear clear the minimum thinning was done, even though I wanted maximum thinning, glare has not been resolved, I cannot drive with these glasses either as there's far too many reflective anomalies, not happy, I'm now stuck with 2 sub-par pairs for glasses that I over paid for... Abysmal”
“1. Turned up at wrong branch in Dunstable thanks to agent who booked my appointment over the phone... told to get back in car and to go to the other branch.
2. Best healthcare check ever, the optometrist was so thorough and explained so much was feeling positive.... until ...,
3. Taken downstairs for heavy slick sales pitch with the £89 frames I’d picked now becoming £333 after An initial £425 ...but with me not opting for super dooper glare repellent he’d be able to shave off even more... whoop whoop he’d got it down to £333!!!
4. In a nano second suddenly the card machine is poised and he is rubbing his hands together at the thought of his commission.
5. In a further Nano second the smile is wiped off his face when he realised I’m not about to make payment. Thank goodness for my Apple Pay being faulty. It actually gave me some breathing space to think and realise it is not what I want to do. Breathing space, he’d been so careful not to give me any!!
6. The disappointment is obvious as his vibe completely changed. He insists I call as soon as I get home and ask for him, as he wouldn’t want me to miss out and not get them ordered!!
7. 2 missed calls and 1 voicemail later, chasing for payment.
8. My love affair with Specsavers is well and truly over. Shame because the optometrist was brilliant- the smarmy sales approach not so brilliant.
Caution ⚠️ approach with your wits about you, and give yourself time to think over the decision and price.”
“Used to be great value and good service, now just I just get a good examination and then pushed into spending as much a possible on glasses. I won’t be using them again. Much cheaper elsewhere. If you have an examination there just pay for it and get your glasses elsewhere”
“Would have liked the person who was allocated to me when I was trying on glasses to be not so vocal about glasses I chose and not so pushy about the ones she chose! Will try elsewhere next time, which is a shame because everyone else was really nice. A lesson in tact and customer service might be helpful!! The store I went to was Macclesfield.”
“Visited the Mansfield branch yesterday for a young family members eye test. It was absolutely packed every work station had a customer. Did not see any employee wearing face shields only the normal blue type. Considering how close both parties were sitting I was concerned and if we were not there due to an eye problem I would have left. I have a serious health condition so could not go in. Waited outside 15 minutes over the appt time. In all the appt took 2 HOURS! The worst Covid violation happened when trying frames at the end. The operator placed the tried frames back on the rack without sterilising them which was inexcusable. A different operator was heard to say to an older customer “pass them to me after trying and I’ll clean them”. Why has the manager not made that an absolute rule to all staff. Bad experience and will now take her prescription to a covid award optition.”
“I had early morning appointment ,the doors where locked the look on all the staffs faces was the look of horror that a customer was at their door when the doors were opened a hand was shoved out for me to move away then in a rude manner I was told STAND OVER THERE
Its pathetic the way the staff behaved Get a grip no one is dying there is no ambulances rushing supposed contaminated people to the hospitals because the hospitals are practically empty there are no coffins laying on pavements and people are shoulder to shoulder plus speck saver staff had masks on one minute and the next minute were removing then so the could breath don't you know that wearing masks make you breath in your own c02 makes breathing a lot harder disrupts hearing because you have to talk a lot harder and putting a mask on then talking it of to eat is silly if you think your protected from a fake pandemic its all about control of the so called herd bringing in the new world order bringing in AI bringing in the digital dollar and 5G because humans are controlled by frequency do not let yourself be controlled don't be scared and live your life the way that's the best life for you”
