I'm looking to cancel my policy with Swinton. I would expect the premium to not be paid for the remaining period of the policy. Instead, Swintons are charging me nearly £300. The reason is an unsuccessful claim that we made a couple of months prior. My son's bike was stolen, and I wasn't sure if it was covered by our policy. When I spoke to the team to ask, they suggested that I claim as that would be the only way to find out for sure. Which I did. It turned out not to be covered. Shame, but I accept that - if it's not in the policy, then it shouldn't be paid. But now I come to cancel the policy, and instead of having the remaining premium cancelled, Swinton are asking me to pay £287 for the claim that wasn't covered. Is that not beyond ridiculous?

The worst insurance company. They sent around a rude loss adjustor to figure out whether we would be covered. He came up with random excuses why we wouldn't be covered. We have had independent quotes from roofers and they explained exactly what was the problem which would be covered.

Had an accident on the 26th July,still no courtesy car,still no help from Swinton,awful phone manners,terrible company,I’m at my wits end and they don’t care!

Awful insurance, taking all my money from my back because of their incompetence! I will be going with a different insurance company. I am left with nothing because you did not take my monthly payments, and told me four months later!

My husband and I both have Motorbike Policies with Swinton. Husband had accident 5 weeks ago, still waiting for Swinton to actually do anything, other than pass the buck! Live chat today, a lady told me that neither of our bike registrations show on their data, nor does our name or address. They quickly take payments every month tho. Ive just spoken to another woman to tell her we now need to stop the policy as the bikes been written off, and she asked me who has told us that!!! I have just suggested that they look into this entire shambles of a claim, and my own policy that doesn't exist and get back to me. I WILL NOT hold my breath. Absolutely terrible service, I will NEVER use Swinton again, even if they gave it for FREE! PS - I have given a 1 * as there is no minus *

Received letter asking I call them so I did and was told they had renewed my policy incorrectly and I need to pay them over the phone. I asked for this in writing and got a garbled reply. Received a further letter and called them again asked for details in writing again and lodged a complaint. Was assured my policy would not be cancelled but this was a lie as have on one hand received an email saying they are looking into my complaint and at the same time a notice of cancellation!

I don't want to say a bad word about anyone but I'd avoid Swinton ,lack of communication,had my policy cancelled,no correspondence email,text from them ,and all because they couldn't see a pdf file I'd sent them clearly (and didn't think to inform me to send it again )when spoke to them ,the call centre agent was rude and unhelpful,and then refused to tell me what information was missing,made a big contordiction , firstly saying ite pdf was blank ,and then saying the pdf was a pic of a v5 which couldn't see clear and that's why was cancelled,asked to speak to manager and was only able to do so cause I kept agent on phone for half hour,when spoke to manger ,she didn't want to help at all , absolutely shocked how awful they are ,and none of there agents have very good english

Never will I recommend swinton we had a flood jan 2022 we decided to claim as haven’t before they came round and gave the go ahead but then found asbestos so they removed all furniture so they could go ahead with the floor and removed all flooring. That was in October we are now living in cold conditions with a concrete floor and no furniture. So no I would never recommend swinton

Following an accident my motorbike was sent by yourselves for repair/assessment and was subsequently written of by 4th dimension, my policy details are attached along with the the BER notification from your repairers. I have be waiting over 4 weeks for a refund payment but have not received it and have had no update regarding my case. I have contacted Swinton claims and Ageas (who I believe are the underwriters and are supposedly dealing with my claim) no one is responding to my calls or emails and no one is taking any responsibility for dealing with my requests for an update. Being without my only method of transport is having a detrimental effect on my life and is impairing my ability to work. The lack of communication from yourselves is absolutely disgraceful 'customer service'. I took out my insurance policy with yourselves believing you to be a reputable company but your actions with my claim has led me to feel you are money grabbing, dishonest and unreliable. I will be making sure none of my family and friends ever insure anything through yourselves. I require an answer regarding date, amount and method of the write off payment by 2pm on Wednesday 18th January or I will be seeking legal advice.

Total bunch of Cheating thieves - tell you any old lie then do the exact opposite to what they agree on. It does beg the question as to how they get away with it no wonder the Insurance Industry has such an awful reputation

The worst company I have ever dealt with! I have been with Swinton for a couple of years, my insurance went on for automatic renewal, then I got a letter to say it had been cancelled, I was going to ignore it thinking it was a computer regenerated letter, but I rang up to be told that because of a claim I had made two years ago for a small caravan sink with a different company for £300, and which I had advised them about, I was told to write a letter in Ha! I told them what to do with the insurance! They have since charged me over£30 admin charges to cancel my policy! I am in my seventies and I’m last thirty years in my home I have made one claim for £200, plus the sink claim. What a disgusting way to treat customers!

Just got my renewal letter from Swinton Insurance to renew my Home Insurance with them for another 12 months. Given that nothings changed & I haven't made a claim, why are they increasing my annual premiums from £266.75 to a staggering £999.44!!! This is disgusting Terrible customer service and shocking value for money

Absolute disgrace over four years with swinton never one claim when I needed them didn’t want to no. anything to get out of paying out!!! And they want a cancellation fee.

In 23 years of driving this is the worst insurance company I had ever been with. I had the policy on auto renew the same as every other car insurance I have had which always auto renewed after the first year. Got pulled over by police and turns out I had no insurance as Swinton had stopped the auto renewal. I called them and asked why they didn’t let me know, they said they sent me ONE email which I didn’t receive and no trail in email account and they said they tried ringing me twice before end of policy which I can’t find any record of either. No voicemails were left as I check them daily. Then when I phoned them twice to ask for an email trail of them sending the email reminder they just send an attachment of the so called email they sent saying my auto renewal will be cancelled if I don’t get in touch. No actual evidence it was sent in first place. Now I have 6 points, 300 pound fine and a much higher yearly insurance policy. Avoid Swinton like the plague.

Got new insurance, had cancellation letter, took 3 phonecalls for them to finally realise it was because a previous accident was still classed as open, so we paid extra to cover this via phone. Money was taken, as well as a fee of course then this morning I have an email, they have cancelled my policy, refunded ONLY the original payment, Minus another fee.... So i am uninsured, £70 down and have to try to get insurance elsewhere. Scammers, a complete waste of my time and money and VERY stressful!

The automated phone service is the worst I have ever come across. Due to this I was unable to enquire about adding to my current insurance. I tried phoning again and was hung up on, the chat service was not working either. Eventually I chose to cancel my current contents insurance (started 01/07/2022) and I was informed i had to pay a charge of £21 to cancel. What a great one manned Sales Prevention Team you have created. Never again will I buy an insurance product I know has anything to do with Swinton.

Never been treated so badly passed from pillar to post just because I didn't take up the offer of a hire car accident was caused by third partie who admitted full liability car a right off insurance up for renewal next month they can stick it completely shoody money grabbing wouldn't be recommending them again

Worst experience with a car insurance company I’ve had in my 30 years of driving. They tried to inflate the cancellation fee and then threatened to pass it on to a debt collection company if I did not pay immediately you have 7 days to pay the cancellation fee

As per lots of other comments, your automated system is terrible. I tried several times to speak to a human being, to no avail. Your system, either by accident or design, makes life overly complicated for customers. All I wanted was to cancel the insurance on a house which I have just sold. I have written my simple request in a letter to the Salford office, trying the old-fashioned way. I will never knowingly do business with you again.
