I’ve been trying to talk with someone at Swinton for over 2 hrs as set up a different car and the link wouldn’t allow me to complete the monthly payments. I’ve tried to log onto our account It also won’t let me 🤪. Maybe it’s my age but not impressed not the same company as we’ve previously used 😞

I have used Swinton on and off for the past 25 years so was happy to take car insurance with them in November 2023. In July 2024 we moved house and as you do started notifying change of address. So I dutifully did with Swinton. That's when the nightmare began. Spoke to Toby and explained I needed to change the address only on my motor policy. So he asked all the relevant questions and said he needed to submit it to the underwriters to see if there would be a increase in the premium. He came back and mumbled something about a rejection code as the area was unacceptable. I asked him what he meant by that and he couldn't answer. Now the area I moved to has high end value houses in a semi rural location, certainly not a crime hotspot! He put me on to Lindi who just kept stating the area was unacceptable but I can cancel this policy and they would put me with a new company. Why, I asked? Please tell me why this area is unacceptable? She just kept saying the insurance company stated it was not an acceptable area. I asked her to verify who the insurance company was. AGEAS came the reply. I was stunned. We have a second car, insured by my wife, and she successfully changed the address the day before with no additional premium. It is insured through AGEAS!! Her reply was genuinely incoherent by which time my wife had entered the room curious why I was on the phone so long and started listening to the what was happening. I asked to speak to a supervisor for an explanation. I got Karen. I explained what had happened and wanted an explanation why two people living at the same address received such polar opposite responses. Again she appeared not to understand and stuck to the script of it being an unacceptable area. I recall saying regardless that my wife lives in the same house and that AGEAS accepted she is in an acceptable area (no additional premium) but Swinton say it's not. All she did was keep offering me a new policy with a different company or a cancellation of the policy. I asked for quotes for a new policy with a different insurance company, however her eventual reply was that none would insure me. As my wife was simultaneously obtaining quotations from a comparison website this was obviously another blatant lie. I believe this is the procedure when a customer won't change to another company to build Swinton's revenue stream. They get booted. Needless to say the policy with Swinton is now cancelled. I urge everyone to avoid this company at all costs. I dread to think what may have happened if I had ever had to make a claim through Swinton.

These guys are an absolute joke. Took up a policy with them and they did nothing apart from mess around from the start. Now cancelled the policy and taken out another with the RAC which was issued immediately and with no phone calls or silly emails trying to increase the price. Even when asking to be put through to their complaints department they cut you off! As i questioned, if they are this incompetent at the start of a policy, what on earth are they like in the even of a claim? They have now been reported to the obbedsman for a full refund of all costs. Avoid Swinton, it's really not worth the hassle.

Swinton bikes what a joke ! I have a multi bike policy and removed a 1200cc bike and a 1000cc bike then asked to put on a 125cc just a laugh bike really zip into town etc sorry sir you multi bike policy wont allow that bike. a 125 ? are you joking having already had to change insurance in January as the then multi bike policy wouldn't allow a 17 plate bike bearing in mind the 125 is a 23 plate. ok quote me for the 125 then 56 years old 40 years experience full no claims on the multi bike policy . wait for it ......over £500 ? I insure a 23 plate 1000cc sports bike for less ! Swinton you have lost the plot and a return customer. Needless to say the 125 is now insured with another company.

Found out that my current insurer CIS is competitive. My son in law insures with Swinton.

absolutely dreadful service. please don't even consider using Swinton. massively frustrating experience with a customer service team that are seemingly incapable of understanding your requests.

After weeks of exchanging emails I have decided to cancel my new car insurance with Swinton Firstly I cannot understand why they asked for so much proof of existance just for a cheap insurance on a cheap run around car We have been getting car insurance for 45 years with lots of different cars and different insurance companies We have never felt like we were being interrogated as we have with Swinton We were asked for photos ( back and front ) of both driving licences Digital PDF versions of both our driving licences downloaded from the government website Photos of page one and page two of the V5C document proving we owned the car A utility bill from the previous three months proving we live at the address on the policy, Which was clearly shown on both driving licences and the V5C A typing error on the original application showed our street name twice On the cars V5C it showed the correct address with only one street name on it We were informed that Swintons FRAUD SQUAD were looking into this Perhaps if the call centre had been in the UK the staff would have realised this simple error,,,,when I tried to explain this to the call centre person she either couldn't or wouldn't accept that all they had to do was delete a line of text on the policy After three vweeks of frustration I have cancelled this new policy and to add insult to injury they have charged me a £50 administration fee !!!!! I will never deal with Swinton again and I will be advising anyone I can never to have anything to do with them !!!

It was a good service in general, but unable to give a competitive prices as compared to many other companies. Its best negotiation about10/15%discount

Very difficult to contact and also to speak to someone who actually understands insurance. The person I spoke to was uncooperative and very bland, when I asked her why Swindon would not renew my Home Insurance after 19 years, she didn’t know! I had very little notice about 17 days, your letter didn’t arrive until much later than the given date. Upon investigations with ABI and other such bodies it would appear that because we live in a 400 year old Grade 2 house, many companies are employing various terms and conditions and some are reluctant to insure these properties. In my wildest dreams I cannot imagine that since Swindon renewed my policy last year they didn’t know that what would happen this year. Normal Insurance etiquette would have been to have let us know this earlier.

Oh please never use this sc*m insurance, so much cost!! Changing address costs almost £400, and just wanting to cancel this insurance requires paying £40. Horrible costs!!! How could it be??? Save your money!! Be careful!!

Been with Swinton for many years over 8 Got terrible. Calls are transferred to India A couple times they put the phone down . This was English operators but from India not much better My insurance cover went from £350 / £370 to £500 . Ask for a new policy by phone was told £500 without explanation Got a renewal for £600 . I got 20 year's no accident no claim . Went to a new company £ 350 . Run away from this cowboys.

I have tried twice to discuss renewing my policy, and both times , have spoken to someone in South Africa , with very basic knowledge. I have now cancelled. Why don’t you use UK operatives? Thank God I’ve never had to make a claim! I would have no chance of getting it sorted!

got a quote for my car over £1100 for single driver got cover for £428 for myself and wife.Where do they get their prices fromalso i have house insurance with them that i will be changing when renewal comes

Worst company ever! Tried to claim 27/12 was given a ref and promised a call back. All xmas period spoke with staff who dont have a clue terminate the call on you. Paid to do the work myself now - waste company put through complaint and offered me £25 compensation ! Avoid this company !!!

They cut my car inurance with no warning they said i never paid my bill which it went out every month now they want me to pay over £500 to get it back

I have tried to make an enquiry about an issue. They said someone would ring me back. Which they never did. But not before they hung up on me 3 previous times, when I mentioned I had a stammer, & one even asked what appliance is a stammer.

Unfortunately, my experience with this finance company was quite disappointing. Despite promises, the services offered fell short, and canceling was met with threats that affected credit scores. Even for minor amounts (£25), their aggressive pursuit via debt collectors was unsettling. Overall, their lack of ethics and poor service make them highly unrecommended.

i am disgusted with the service. I have spoken to advisors to renew my policy. They agreed a new price but did not bother to set up a direct debit. This is their department not mine. I spoke to advisors on 3 occasions, I don;t think they actually understood what they had to do. PLEASE DO NOT RENEW WITH THIS COMPANY. Julie Timson I would like a call back to set up my direct debit as I am fed up of trying to get through.
