Please do not pay over the odds for parts and labour. They will not pay out. They find any way to get out of it. You can't claim for damage wear and tear. Which is almost everything.

Absolutely disgraceful service. 19 hours to recover car and passengers 80 miles! 26th March, Tyre failure near Kirby Lonsdale, phoned AA 2.45 pm, told recovery would be with us 4.30pm latest. Van arrived at 5.10. Unable to find a replacement tyre. Recovery vehicle requested and informed recovery would be 2 to 4 hours. Much later informed recovery vehicle slightly delayed now 10.15. Call received from Four Counties breakdown service, job passed to them, now told be with us 10.30 to 11.00pm latest. Waited till midnight, no recovery. Tried phoning AA, 35 minutes no reply just a hundred “thank you for your patience” recorded messages. Finally recovery arrived 12.45 am, informed they would take us part of way them AA would complete the recovery. When asked if a recovery vehicle would be available for 2nd part we were assured it was all arranged and AA had a vehicle waiting. Arrived Rivington Servicesat 3.38am (originall we broke down 80 miles from home, now 97 miles), no recovery vehicle despite repeated assurances it was all fully arranged. Four Seasons driver contacted AA, informed they did not have anyone available, estimated time for recovery now 8.15am! AA phone operator then suggested we lock keys in car and he would find a taxi to take us home to Doncaster, explained you cannot lock keys in car (BMW 640 M Sport Gran Coupe) and asked how he intended to retrieve them even if we could? He then suggested we lock car and leave them on top of a tyre! Not sure my insurer would be happy if someone found them so declined this suggestion. Next suggested he get us a taxi to take us home and we return at an arranged time with the keys! On asking who would pay for return taxi informed they only pay to get us home and we would have to sort out return at our cost!! By this time we had circa 3 hours until next “promised” recovery time so hunkered down again, finally breakdown arrived at 8.20am and delivered us to our home at 10.45am. 19 hours to recover a car, driver and 2 passengers 80 miles! At the average of 4.2 mph we could have pushed it home ourselves in that time! We are each 70 years of age or older and in all of those years have never received such an uncaring and disgraceful service from any company, let alone one that spends fortunes on ads telling future customers a pack of lies about it’s promised service. In all. If you are considering joining please think again. It is clear they have far to many members and seriously lack the vehicles or people to fulfil their existing commitments, please don’t add to it by joining. Only plus point is a big thank you to the two patrol drivers (unfortunately did not get the Four Counties drivers name) and Thomas who recovered us to Doncaster from Tivington, they were both professional, courteous and shining examples in what is the dark abyss called th AA and completely wasted on a company who treat customers so badly

Smartcare does NOT verify garages vehicle Diagnostic Tests. Smartcare takes garages at their word - therefore not protecting consumers from misleading mechanics diagnostics. Smartcare Service is useless.

Speaking from personal experience,we have unfortunately had to call them out quite frequently lately as my husband’s van is old & keeps breaking down,I can’t stress enough how good the service has been, they give him a rough idea of a time, but are always there within 30 mins, they are helpful, kind, polite & never leave him alone, they either follow him home or tow him if need be. Also a while ago I was a passenger in my daughters car when she broke down with 3 young children in tow.....they were with us in about 20 mins, temporarily sorted her problem out & followed her back to her local garage, then gave her a lift back to her house, couldn’t praise them enough!!

"My renewal quotation went from circa \u00a3350 pa to \u00a31700 despite 10 years NCD and a tracker on my vehicle, thought it might be a mistake , and AA customer service unapologetic ( take it or leave it stance) Enough said I went to Aviva for same price as last year. Would not recommend AA ins provider"

If I could give the AA 0 stars I would. Last night my family's car broke down in the middle of a busy junction in central London, blocking a main road behind traffic lights. We had four people including a disabled person who couldn't walk in the vehicle and despite numerous calls, texts, and attempts to reach the AA on every social media platform they have it took them 10 hours to reach us and offer us any kind of support. I'm absolutely shocked and outraged at the negligence of the AA last night - what I thought was a reliable company failed to come to our aid and kept us in an incredibly dangerous situation, ignoring all of our messages and leaving us on hold for hours. If you have any option to NOT use the AA I recommend turning elsewhere for support. Two of the four passengers I was with have AA memberships, and yet they still charged us a high fee when they eventually came to pick up the car at 4am.

Long story short. 26 years in the AA. This will be my last. Using there apps during a breakdown it said I was logged out. Then to log in it asked for my 16 digit membership number! Seriously! I had another previous bad experience with breakdown and complained about it through their "complaints procedure". Funnily enough this and the subsequent complaint were dismissed out of hand and the AA stated they had done nothing wrong. If only they paid the same attention to their customers as they do to dismissing their complaints!

Had a leak on a water stop tap .the tap is behind a freezer in the utility room.we did not notice the leak until we noticed the vinyl flooring started to warp.surveyor for the aa agreed the tap had caused damage.but the aa have declined our claim for bogus reasons .they say there are some markings on the wall in the utility room which makes our claim not valid but no reason why it makes the claim not valid it has been a very costly experience doing busines with the aa if I were you don't take out a policy with them as they don't want to pay out

Broke down today, called AA who said they’d be out in an hour which they were. Car could not be fixed so AA took car, myself & passenger to garage near home 35miles. Both AA who assisted us were brilliant. Friendly, reassuring & helpful. Paul in particular who took us to Kia at Stockport was fantastic. Thank you Paul and AA for rescuing us.

Booked an MOT and Service with the AA Smart Care website as it promised "We speak with the garage on your behalf, so you can be sure you'll pay the right price". Imagine my shock at a Final Bill of £1,853, even more so when I saw the garage invoice to the AA for £1,147.16. The AA put a whopping 62% profit margin on the works . DO NOT USE

It is impossible to cancel membership without a lengthy listen to machine (5 minutes!) and then discussion regarding reasons on the phone. When I told the agent I didn't want to give a reason he just kept going and called me rude when I didn't want to talk any further, requesting just a cancellation. They treat existing members terribly, my fee went up drastically while new members receive a massive discount. So of course I left. Sad really. Hard sale...

My daughter had a couple of lessons with Alex from Farham AA Driving School. She did not feel comfortable as he was rude, arrogant, and showed little empathy, particularly when she tried her best to master her hill starts. Would not recommend AA Farnham Driving school, particularly to young female drivers. We changed to another school with a more patient femail instructor and she flourished passing 1st time.

24 year loyal member. Renewal quote £377 . Telephone call and could only get down to £159 . Now a member of RAC for £85 offering same road side and national recovery. AA could not care about loyalty just taking your money.

I want to thank the AA man who came and helped me on Friday night ( around 10 pm) on the Portsmouth road in Guildford, when my car had broken down. He got it going again, them he phoned me at home to make sure I got back safely. How about that for service. Thanks again.

i insure two cars through the AA and as one has just come out of manufacturer warrantly I was tempted with a breakdown recovery letter that the AA sent. However when I attempted to call and buy this cover I was waiting in excess of 15 minutes for anybody to answer the sales line. With that I mind I gave up and tore up the AA letter. If a company cannot answer the phone to sell a product imagine the wait for any aftersales service? There is just too much of this expectancy that customers have little else to do than hang on the sales line listening to pre-recorded rubbish about what you might be able to buy if you can actually get through.
