I gave 6 years of my life to this company. Worked my way from sales assistant to store manager. Took a rubbish store and made it better, put my heart, soul, unpaid time and money into making it a better place for my staff. I was fired unfairly after a member of staff decided to help themselves to £200 from the safe using their keys, during the theft they defecated in the staff areas and on my personal belongings causing damage to my stuff. The Works doesn't have security measures or any cctv, they refuse to implement it. I reported this crime and my damaged belongings to the police immediately, I was shaken up, disturbed and violated that somebody I work with had not only stolen but left faeces on my stuff. I spent 4 weeks investigating and working alongside the company to find out who did this. Myself and the company had no proof of who had done this, so they blamed me for it. They dismissed me and said I was responsible for somebody else stealing and damaging my belongings and that reporting the crime to the police made me suspicious. 6 year career gone overnight, my personal money I had poured into the store was 5x what they had accused me of stealing. All I was left to show of 6 years of being overworked, massively underpaid and treated like rubbish was 10k worth of debt from losing my income overnight and not being able to pay rent and bills, being unable to get a job due to being branded a thief with zero evidence and major anxiety, depression, ptsd and suicidal thoughts and attempts. 17 months later I'm slowly recovering but still in major debt and suffering from extreme trauma. This company also underpays its staff and uses dodgy workarounds to make sure managers are forever working but only being paid for half of it. Upper management are all bullies. I don't care if people still shop here but if I can persuade you of one thing, is please do not apply for a job here. Don't let your family apply, nor your friends. Tell everybody you know this is a horrible, moraless, corrupt company that pays pennies. I'm not the only person who has had their life ruined by this company. If you read this, please pass it on to somebody else. I want everybody to know how much I've had to suffer at the hands of this place.

The Works will take your money on their website, then a fortnight later refund the sale saying that your goods have been "lost in transit"! They use a third party company for email correspondence who therefore have zero accountability. They also use the worst (and cheapest) courier company in the country, so good luck if you think that your goods will arrive in a timely fashion or at all! They don't deserve the one star that you have to give in order to leave a review... AVOID THIS COMPANY.

Placed an order on their website for home delivery. The first thing that went wrong was after placing my order and receiving an email order confirmation, I received another email to inform me that one of the items I had ordered was no longer in stock. If this item was no longer available, why was it still in stock when I placed my order? Secondly, they short changed me on my refund for this item. Thirdly, after sending several emails over numerous months requesting for them to send the money they owed me, no reply whatsoever. I then had to go to the trouble of phoning their customer service line. For the poor service I had received, I asked for a manager to get in contact with myself to offer a good will gesture for all of my troubles. The operator informed me that someone would be in contact. Do you think anyone bothered to reach out to me? Surprise, surprise, they did not. I, therefore, once again had to contact them, this time via Instagram and after having to ask countless times, someone did call but guess what during work hours. I then used my lunch break to call back and you've guessed it no manager was around to speak to me. By this point I was very annoyed and frustrated at the extremely poor, abysmal and pretty much non-existent customer service. A manager did eventually email and offered a good will gesture to a level of pittance. Even having, quite, rightly, pointed out that what they had offered me was totally unacceptable, time and time again they right out refused to implement both common sense and good customer service and offer an acceptable will of good gesture. This is one of the worst retail experiences I have ever faced and god knows how they are still functioning as a business when they treat customers as they treated me in this scenario. Let this be a stark warning not to use The Works website.

Avoid at all costs. Their online service is terrible. 10 working days after placing the order, received an email stating your order got "lost", we will be issuing a refund in 3 - 5 working days. I had to send several emails to find out any info about the order after a week and a half.

There was barely any flavour to all the burgers I got today. We got the Brie burger, piggy, bark at the cow, kid’s Leah burger, peppercorn with goat and the poutine. $150 on absolute disappointment. Burgers were dry as well as the fries. I also ordered the kids Kraft dinner for 9 dollars thinking it would be something more gourmet but in fact it was right out of the Kraft dinner box. $9!! Wtf Never eating here again. Had to try out the ‘gourmet burger’ spot. Gourmet my ass. The works clearly doesn’t know what gourmet means. Total rip off!

I bought a jigsaw for my mum in February. She had completed it in March to find a piece was missing.I contacted the works and was told to take it to any store and get a refund. Great I thought. Due to the covid store closures it was May before I could return it. I was told in the store (Hillsborough) that because I had paid by PayPal originally, then the refund would be credited back to my PayPal account. I am still waiting after several weeks.I've made several phone calls and sent several emails and all I get are empty promises. In summary, if you buy from The Works, don't expect any consumer rights. Once they have your money, they are keeping it, whether you return the faulty merchandise or not !!

I ordered a Mindbogglers Himeji Castle Jigsaw when "completed" it had one piece missing and two pieces "extra", Contacted Customer Services (and sent them photographs ) only to be told wait until Lockdown finishes ,take it back to a store and get a refund. It looks like that is going to be another couple of Months and was up to me to make the effort/expense to go to a Store. Not very good customer service !

Disguisting. Box was wet and all item packaging was soggy. Was only refunded £5.50 when I spent 72 pounds on soggy boxes

Awful customer service, they over charged me for an order, then lied to me on the phone about doing so then after a second phone call only refunded me part of the money they owed. The customer help line is designed to stop people being able to complain only being open Monday to Friday: 10:00 - 16:00. Their social media teams took over 5 days to respond and just brushed me off saying it had already been dealt with when it wasn't.

I wanted to edit my review, but it hasn't appeared even though I'm told it's verified, and I don't know if I could edit it when it does appear, so here is the edited version! I placed an order on the 22nd November for some Christmas presents as I wanted to avoid spending my money with Amazon. On the 23rd Hermes said they had the parcel, so I waited. Then I tracked it Friday and found it was on it's way back to the sender! My local delivery man hasn't even seen it so I suppose it got damaged, maybe because of poor packaging (only a guess). So I tried to fill in The Works customer support form. It kept telling me my email address was not valid. I tried 4 or 5 times with 2 different email addresses, same result. "You must enter a vaid email address." Then I managed to find an email address for them so I emailed them and explained that I still want the items as they are Christmas presents, hoping they would re-send them. Now they have issued a refund. Words fail me at this point.

I ordered 6 items and was emailed to say all 6 items were on their way. When my package arrived it only contained 4 items I emailed The Works to be told 2 items were out of stock and promptly given a refund. On checking the website both items were both showing in stock and let me order them right through to payment. In my complaint email I also addressed the fact that I had been charged £7 for an item that arrived with a £6 sticker on it. In my response this was totally overlooked.
