TURO HOST REVIEW My husband and I have 7 cars listed on the app. We have a 5-star rating on ALL cars AND overall experience. We qualified for All-Star status within a month…Turo is HORRIBLE for host compensation. My husband and I are super flexible. Rather it be reservation changes or damages, we work with everyone to find a solution. Turo doesn’t back up claims filed with their app. For example: Someone trashed our car and brought the car back on empty. Cans and bottles everywhere, sand everywhere inside the car. I you know live near a beach, you know I how hard it is to get sand out 100%. Stains were let on seats as well….We took the check-out photos and make the claim for gas reimbursement and cleaning fee since this car needs a professional detailing. CLAIMS WERE DENIED. Turo support tried to give so much push back saying, ‘what did you clean it with…what is the stain from…did you ask the guest’…Since the guest challenged the gas charge, it was denied. This guest was already a difficult customer who wanted to use the Turo service but didn’t want to comply with Turo rules. All in all, we had to call in a week later for a different situation and the claim was reversed and approved. This was only one example. Of the 39 trips we’ve completed, 4 had obvious claims that were submitted with evidence and denied. We work so hard to provide the best service possible, but this make it difficult. Sometimes these are brought back with weird smells/stains and the car goes out again in a few hours

Terrible customer service. I was told that my trip would get cancelled and that I would receive a partial refund. 24 hours after they canceled my trip, they told me I would no longer receive a refund..... please make this make sense.

Terrible experience. I got a car with a flat tire. Notified the owner right away. They charged me $600 for "damages" and then $2,400 more for "more damages" a week later. A six year old car, that I drove for less than 48 hours. Scammers. They also take the hosts word without any proof of damage.

Absolutely horrible, they tried to charge me Sales Tax for the State of Oregon where I live and where I was going to rent the vehicle from. I had to call customer service and after being on hold for 26 minutes I was told, that Oregon does have a sales tax. When I told them they were wrong they came back and told me that "if that is true they would refund me the money for the sales tax in 30-45 days. I cancelled the reservation on the spot and was still charged even after I cancelled the reservation. It then took another 25 min on the phone to get that charge removed.

First and last time using Turo. The car had no oil and we had to drive from TN. So many hidden fees, I was charged $200 for bringing the car back 2 hours late but I was in communication with the host letting him know we were running late. He said it’s fine just let me know when you are here. $200 for returning a car late is insane. I got charged twice ($400) so in total I paid $860 for 4 days. This company just want your money.

AVOID THE TURO SCAM AT ALL COSTS! My husband and I rented a Turo car to go upstate NY for the Thanksgiving long weekend. Long story short: our entire weekend was ruined by the shity car Turo gave us, and 2.5 weeks later we are $550 down, have spent 4+ hrs on the phone to them, the rental car is abandoned in a friend’s house, and Turo does not do anything to resolve our claim and put an end to this. More detail: on Friday, we realized that the Turo rental car’s trunk did not lock, and having our luggage with us, spent all afternoon trying to figure our what to do about it. On Sunday when we had to go back, a car almost hit us from behind and told us that our break lights were not working, which is very dangerous. We had to drive back ~2.5 hrs to the city on the highway, and as we started the journey (with the unlockable trunk and without tail lights), the front right wheel start began shaking violently. We stopped, went back to a friend’s house, check all tires’ pressure (which were good) and realize that the car was undrivable. From then on, Turo has proven to be the biggest scam company I have ever been unfortunate enough to deal with. We called roadside assistance, which never came to help. We left the broken car in my friend’s property and thankfully his father was able to drive us to a bus station where we took a bus for $207 total. Needless to say that the entire Sunday was wasted by this incident. But most importantly, as of today DECEMBER 13th and SINCE NOVEMBER 28th we have contacted Turo (via claims, phone calls, and emails) OVER 23 TIMES. The car IS STILL seating in my friend’s property! NO ONE at Turo has given us a straight answer. Instead, it is LIE AFTER LIE. At least four different times they have told us that “an inspector” or “a team” was picking up the car. It has never happened. The ~6 Turo departments through which we have been pushed around FOR WEEKS all give you different information and status updates about (1) their policy, (2) what they are going to do about it, (3) the time it is going to take. The only consistency among our interactions with Turo’s Customer Support, Claims, Inspection, Roadside Assistance etc is that THEY HAVE ALL BEEN USELESS. We will sue. In the meantime, if you are a potential client, save yourself this nightmare and book a car via a real rental company.

I was charged for tolls, on roads that I had not driven on. My complaint was denied, and no reason given. No recourse. Beware!

Second time in a row I have to beg hosts to tell me if they aren't going to suddenly cancel on me last minute. Second time in a row they do cancel on me last minute. Second time in a row I have to book whatever low-quality overpriced cars are left on the market due to it being last minute. Second time in a row there's little Turo Support can do. Last minute before the holidays.

My son earns through Turo as a partner of a car rental owner/host, so it genuinely pains me to leave this review, knowing it could negatively impact his endeavors. I signed up for Turo upon his recommendation and rented a 2024 Tesla Model Y from November 17-24, 2024, from a host with a 4.85-star rating. Pick-up was at 9:00 PM on November 17, and the return was scheduled for 8:30 PM on November 24. In reality, I returned the car at 7:20 PM — more than an hour ahead of schedule. The car was used a few times around LA but was mostly parked in a garage. I left a positive review since the car was in excellent condition. However, a few days later, I was blindsided by a claim for $210 in damages to the front passenger-side tire or rim. I disputed the claim, and the host assured me he would forward it to insurance. Shortly after, I received an email from Turo stating they "may charge a refundable $500 deposit towards potential damages while we review the claim." To my surprise, I then received another email from Turo notifying me of a charge for a "late return" of the car — a charge that had already been billed to my credit card. I immediately disputed it and contacted the host directly. He claimed he didn’t initiate the charge and advised me to call Turo support, even providing a number to call. At this point, I wasn’t sure whether the host or Turo was trying to scam me. Feeling uneasy, I decided to do some research and was shocked to find numerous negative reviews from angry customers detailing similar experiences. It’s truly disheartening. I understand that there are honest hosts and car owners on Turo who legitimately want to earn money. Unfortunately, unethical practices like these tarnish the app's reputation, hurting not only customers but also the honest hosts who depend on it for income. My son apologized for recommending the app, and I, too, regret placing my trust in it. Moving forward, I will stick to well-established car rental agencies like Sixt, Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, and Dollar. These companies offer transparency, accountability, and a reliable system for resolving disputes fairly. I’ve been renting from them for over a decade and have never encountered issues of this nature. Their professionalism and customer service are far superior to what I experienced with Turo.

I do not recommend Turo, as we faced a problem every single trip without any support. Many people get excited about the variety of cars that they find in Turo, including fancy cars. However, despite Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, and so on, you won't get any fast and reliable answers from customer service. The sole party you will be referred to is the owner of the car, who is usually not available, extremely rude, and unresponsive. Turo never reimbursed or compensated your loss. They erase your reviews; that is why all hosts are 5-star hosts.

Worst experience ever in a car sharing platform. The host didnt have an insurance on the car and i received a ticket for it. The registration was expired and even the number plate was missing on one side. Turo doesnt hold any responsibility or even compensate for any of the incidents like these. They just apologise. Never gonna use Turo again!

What a dodgy company, took the car for 3 or 4 days at around $300-400 and when I came back with a few scratches the host of the Mahindra XUV700 pushed me into writing a good review. After that every week, I would get invoices like $500 to pay the damages then $150 for the cleaning fee and then another $200 for the toll. Today i got $15000 nearly $16000 invoice to pay the scratches. What a ri[ pff. Do not trust this company

This Company is a Complete RipOff. They charge two days worth of charges claiming its for One day and the Host only gets less than Half of the Daily rate. The more you Rent from them, the more the Fees and prices go Up. Please Do Not rent from them, unless you want to be Extremely Ripped off!!

I rented a 2011 Ford Fusion and was charged $50.00 a day and fee. Almost $500.00 for an old car and had a Tire Shop put Air and owner kept denying that the car did not needed air. My friend had the Turo service and signed me up and never told me about extra mileage. Even the owner of the car didn’t told me about mileage cost. The owner came back and charged me an extra hundred and something dollars new bill ($154.00). Turo must be shut down from price gouging and Ripping off Customers . There was so much opportunities with a local Enterprise company that had newer car for Bluetooth devices
