Visited on the 7th September 2024, small wedding party of 9 including 2 children. Excellent service, attentive staff, the food was outstanding, we had starters, mains desserts and coffee, nothing was too much trouble. We brought our own cake and the restaurant provided, plates serviettes and a knife without any fuss. Thank you all for making this a memorable family day. Lorraine

The place and lovely and the food is great I can't fault that but the service was awful. They were busy so the wait wasn't an issue but they seemed like they were ignoring our table and they were all scruffy and not at all friendly. They were not outwardly rude but very disinterested and made us feel uncomfortable. We had to call staff anytime we wanted anything they didn't come over to our table at all unprompted even later on when it was quieter. I would give 5 starts for the food and atmosphere but 0 stars for the service. For a place like this that seems unmarket they really need to be more careful with who they are employing and keep on eye on their presentation

Very poor I had the salmon salad, there was a plate full!!!! of iceberg lettuce 3 half’s!!!!!of cherry tomatoes 3 half’s !!!!!of cucumber, must say the salmon was very nice . But far too much iceberg lettuce, not enough tomatoes or cucumber was £14 not good . And the staff need some lessons on how to smile.

I had the sea bass with mussels last night. The sea bass was very dry, about 8 mussels 4 of which were not open and a very strong smell from the plate of food. I don't normally complain but this food was very poor. Told the waiter he said he would let the chef know they offered me a desert or a coffee disgraceful. Also had to ask the waiters a number of times to clear the table, we will not be rushing back.

We had prawn and crayfish starter it was very bland too much dressing the plate was swimming. Then we had crispy beer battered cod the batter was SOFT the chips were very dry, the tartar sauce didn't taste as it should it was more like soured cream. Lastly the staff looked scruffy. This was not what we were expecting especially for the money we were paying. I have to say that in the past we have been more than satisfied.

What can I say, really big let down! Came here twice before, once in the outdoor area, and once in the restaurant area. Food was good, and service was brilliant on both instances, and has a lovely, up-market pub atmosphere to it (people dress up and really make an effort to look polished, that kind of vibe). The service I received on Sunday the 18th was completely different. We decided to ask for a bar area table on our third visit, as we just wanted a quick bite and a glass of wine, and it looked like a lot of people & families queuing behind us wanting a table, so as it was just the two of us today, we were happy to leave one of the tables to some other clients, and get a smaller table in bar area (which serves a smaller, limited menu for that area). While we were speaking to a staff member at the entrance, I looked to the bar noticed and noticed a staff member, a beautiful, slender, blonde girl, with a sleeve of tattoo on left arm, lovely fake tan & fake eyelashes, basically a stunner - but my god, what an awful manner and attitude! I found her at the time she was giving me an icy side stare, god knows why! Anyways, the girl that welcomed us was lovely, and gave us a bar area food menu. We ordered straight away a bottle of wine, and after 5 minutes went to till to order food. While I sat down, same woman that was giving me the side stare kept on looking at use while pouring pints, and honestly, if looks could kill, I would have been pulverises! It was 17:45 and I got up to order at the bar some food. I was welcomed at the till by the woman who was giving me an icy stare earlier on, who seemed to be the person in charge on the day (saw a few staff members going to her and ask for support when they were not sure how to answer clients queries at the bar). She told me “oh, don’t think we are allowing food orders anymore, we are very busy today and have a lot of big tables, and the kitchen will be busy, so we are not sending orders anymore, otherwise you would be waiting 12 hours for food, sorry!”. I though it was bizzare, and was obviously speechless, so I just retaliated with “oh really?”, and she answered “yeah sorry”, smirked and walked off. I though it was really wrong they accommodated us when we made it very clear we were here for food, to then tell us you were “no longer accepting orders” at 17:45?! Baring in mind this was a bar order, which was a reduced menu. What made it worse, at 18:05, I saw a couple of lads ordering beers, they ordered food by a different server and got their order though! I am not quite sure what happened with the service that day, but gosh did it leave a negative impression. I felt mortified, humiliated, embarrassed, and disrespected. I am sorry but I feel like I no longer trust your staff to be fair and provide adequate service at your establishment, so I make the regrettable decision of no longer attending your premises in the future - especially as competition has more polite and fair staff working, like the nearby San Giovanni. Take care, and hope you choose your staff more carefully in the future - talking about your blonde lovely looking, ill tempered, rude server with tattoo sleeve. If I could, would give a 0 towards service and staff, food is nice so would give a 4/5, atmosphere soured by poor attitude of establishment towards patrons, so 2/5

The service and food used to be amazing …ever since DAVE (lovely man) passed away 🙏🏽.the service has gone very bad ..staff are not friendly at all ..Twice now we had bad experience..while our starters were being cleared up the staff were standing behind with the main orders ..no time in between the starters and mains ..very disappointing as we used to bring all our families and friends there as we used to love it here and definitely will not be coming back in a hurry 😞

We were a table of 5 for lunch. The service from the bar staff was good. The waiter never smiled at all and made us feel like he was totally bored with the job. Our starters came OK but only 2 of our main courses came out and nothing else. One of us had to get up from the table and query where the rest of the food was. The food when it came wasn't particularly hot. I thought for the experience was over priced and underwhelming. We have been here before and had a great experience but found it very disappointing this time.

Very poor service and the wait was a joke, 30 mins just to get a drink and than an hour for starters and to top it all the table next to us had dessert before we had starters and they arrived after us, this is a service industry and this is far below the standard, I would say the food was good but for the price you can get the same quality food and much better service at a number of better restaurants.. don’t waste you time with this one…👎

Well what a to do! The wait in between courses was unbelievable! How this pub ( and that’s all it is, a glorified pub), remains opened and so highly overpriced is questionable! Waiting over an hour in between courses is not acceptable, our family host organised this and was deeply embarrassed that she had put us all through this shambles! Would we go back for another family occasion? Most certainly not!

Quire busy Saturday night, table for 10 covers booked for 9pm. Seated in time and drink orders, and then food orders promptly taken. Quite a wait for the starters but no real issue as we had drinks and we were all talking. Starters arrive and were delicious. Shortly after finishing our mains arrive without the starters dishes being removed. The confusion over the meals was a farce. My daughter in law was told the sauce with her steak was blue cheese , not what she ordered . Also chunky chips were ordered, skinny fries presented. My wife, also queried the sauce, the waitress didn't know what she had served, she received sweet potato fries instead of the correct order. Myself and another member of the group ordered the burger, in both cases the ciabatta roll was tough/ rock hard, but mine was burnt on top and served with the wrong chips. These issues were rectified. I asked to speak to the manager after our meal as we didn't want to further disrupt the birthday meal. When he came over, he tried to excuse the cantatas and offered me a dessert in compensation, I refused. I raised the point regarding the starters not being cleared prior to the mains being served, at which point he started to chastise our waitress who had otherwise been brilliant and was not at fault for the wrong items being served or indeed the mix up over the steak sauces. I had to intervene and told him that he was unprofessional and unfair to do this in front of paying guests. It made us uncomfortable and awkward and almost reduced our waitress to tears. When the bill was presented, he had removed the 2 burgers from the bill and reduced the total by a further 10%. I will not be recommending any of our friends and family to Turpins going forward. The ONLY reason for the 2 stars was that several of our group really enjoyed their meals and the service we received from our original server was great, it was her colleagues who delivered the meals that caused the issues.
