I have been with Utilita for 10 years and up to this week I was their biggest supporter. I have recently moved and wanted to take Utilita with me so applied for the switch over. Unfortunately after I applied for the switch I discovered that the meter serial numbers registered at my address ware removed on 28-09-2016 and the details on the national database are incorrect. I have spent 5 days and over 20 hours on the phone trying to cancel, firstly the switch, but now the electricity account which is attached to a meter that hasn’t existed for nearly 8 years. I have sent in multiple emails with all needed details and I’m getting absolutely nowhere, at this point I wish I’d never crossed paths with Utilita. So I currently hold 2 electricity accounts with 2 different companies and the same with the gas as those details were also wrong. Every other company (2 different ones) have been an absolute pleasure to deal with but Utilita has driven me to insanity just pushing me around on the phone, firstly not believing what I’m saying to them and secondly it appears that nobody at Utilita actually knows what to do with these dead accounts. The current meter details are currently being updated and when they do update the situation will get even more complicated. I will never recommend Utilita to anyone and at this point wish I’d never moved purely because of the issues I’ve had trying to sort it out. While I’ve been writing this review I have again been kicked off the phone and need to ring them back so I’m off to attempt to do that now. Update: so I rang back, got put on silent hold, waited for an hour then gave up. Date of experience: 24, 25, 26, 27, and 29th June. Had Friday 28th off because I was in bed to recover from the Migraine dealing with this stress has caused me every day this week. Looks like I’m starting again on Monday. Moving house and dealing with utility companies really shouldn’t be this traumatic. If I could choose to never deal with them again and forget the whole chaotic mess ever happened I would, but if this isn’t sorted ASAP from my perspective the whole matter is going to be a lot worse than it is right now, I’m potentially looking at losing my electricity supply that I rely on for medical equipment and refrigeration, but that’s ok because they’ve said if I lose supply they’ll send out emergency engineers to change the meters. JUST CANCEL THE ACCOUNT BEFORE IT COMES TO THAT!!!!

Took 18 months to even be registered with them , they offered to fit a smart meter thst does not work ! 5 visits and still not fixed not to mention 20 phone calls I asked the woman to tell me her name as I keep getting different plans as how they plan to fix .... she put phone down ... Next step electricity ombudsman

DO NOT USE UTILITA. Been try to speak to someone since 1pm time now 18.28 absolutely ridiculous they also cut my electricity off while I had money on my meter and said I have I have to use emergency even though I still had credit I'm a vulnerable person and UTILITA victimise vulnerable people DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED. ENERGY OMBUDSMAN NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE UTILITA AS THEY BASICALLY ROBBERS

The same as other people waiting for a long time for someone to answer the phone sometimes over an hour of never experienced it being a short time before they answer it and also I don't know if this is normal but night time when I've only got the TV on it goes from 5p to 6P it depending if the fridge needs to go on now when I wake up in the morning about six a.m it says it's using 11p and this nothing extra being used on the electricity I can't work it out I don't know if they're scamming me or if this is normal

The only problem I have with utilita it's hard to talk to someone even on the chat takes forever please sort it .but other than this I'm very happy we have moved into a property and still waiting for my gas and electric cards and home monitor to arrive

If you looking for a energy supplier don't choose utilita they're absolutely rubbish the service its very poor if you call they live you waiting for an hour or more then you book an appointment and then they cancel the appointment 2,3,4 times it's ridiculous I've been waiting since last year for someone fixing my smart meter display this is unacceptable

They put u in 10000s pounds debt and making you pay for it and blame you for it when they the ones who did not listen to it since I start in 2019 and now they being assaulted ass holes to you but yeah

Robbing sum bags this company! Swapped over a week ago left without electric for 12 hrs! Then they want to say I owe a huge debt! Joke and to then say I’ve used friendly credit £8 since 8 o’clock last night when I all ready had money on meter and then to ring customer services waited for 35mins to get through to have the phone put down on me! Robbing people you are Utilita your not even worth 1 start your worth zero!!!

I would give zero if I could. First time, I took over a property with a huge debt and utilita consistently refused to give me account details of my own, so I was forced to buy supply on the old details and they took a 25% surcharge of every payment. Now I've taken over another (empty) property supplied by utilita and have applied to change supplier, knowing what this company is like, and they have blocked my application to the other complany. Not good

Absolutely atrocious door salesman, aggressive and pushy, no introduction, wanted to come in and then wanted to look at my meter, posted on local fb group and so many other people said the same. They had the same person and is dangerous to people who are not so on the ball. Will definitely take advantage if given the chance

This company is a scam! They just walk into your home promising you to change your meter to a better one, offering the lowest rate and then the bill comes. We had to pay over 100 pounds per month, just for gas, for a 1 bed flat, for periods we were not even at home! They never changed the meters, they never even asked for the meter readings so they made up their own and when we provided them with the actual meters they just ignored us. They ignored all the emails we sent and on the phone they pretended to have never received emails from us. They also blocked us from moving to another company when we said we want to change companies due to the cost. Not helpful at all!

1 star rating is just pushing it in my book if you ask me! I was referred by a friend as I was told that the electric would be alot cheaper than most providers. I thought lovely it’s saving me more than what I’m paying at the moment! Wrong!… My current provider explained to me that even their standard rate is 3 times more than what I’m currently paying at the moment. And then I would have to pay for this and for that. I had a bad feeling about swapping over to Utilita but ignored my gut feeling. Then my provider put me in touch with Utilita their end to see if I wanted to still proceed with Utilita or stay with who I’m currently with. I finally got through to someone after 45 minutes and when I did the thing on the other end didn’t really care what I had to say but then got arsey when I said I didn’t want to change over to them. Her attitude stunk big time. She then referred me to a different department which I just thought they could cancel my switch there and then clearly not. I was on hold for over an hour and a half no music no nothing it was like no one was on the other end of the phone. I thought I would do more research on the reviews for Utilita and I’m so glad I did! So friggin glad? Reading these reviews with my jaw hitting the floor with this company and how they are actually still in business flabbergasts’s me. I just can’t believe that they have put people through this and still having the cheek to take their money but for their neighbours too by reading the wrong meters how is that even possible! I really do hope these people get back what’s owed to them what Utilita have taken. I have 3 children and 1 of them suffers with bad eczema which requires her to bath twice everyday. Reading these comments saying they haven’t had no hot water for days I would want to drag the owner of the place through a bush backward by his/her hair and the customer service! Thank god I eventually stuck to my current provider! Stay away from Utilita no go!

Absolutely joke of a company charging more than previous company should be less they do not listen put a debt on your account what you do not have not even been with then 2.months

Giving utilita a 1 star is being polite. The customer service is atrocious. All they do is repeat the same thing and do not resolve the issue. The waiting time to get answered is ridiculous I’ve once waited over a hour just to be told to be more patient with them. I’m glad I left and joined another energy company. Avoid utilita at all cost!

Where do I start with this company, I have had nothing but problems with utilita from the smart meter not working to customer support it's all horrendous! Was on the phone for a emergency they had Me on hold for one hour they processed to answer and hang up on me! Leaving a pregnant woman in a freezing cold house with no gas or electric on! The prices they charge for electricity and gas is ludicrous, do not be fooled by the "no standing charge" as they charge up to 2x the price of there competitors. Stay well away from this company avoid at all costs. I will be switching providers as this is not the first time this has happened.

Absolutely atrocious customer service - £40 on both gas and electricity and it's gone in a week, people are barely getting by whilst these energy companies are raking in billions in the profit through putting our population into even worse poverty, the rates and greed of this company is unreal for the pathetic excuse for a service they deliver. Nationalise Energy.

Got over £100 credit on my electric burt you sent me a bill for £5 don't want to give bank details over phone why can't it be taken of my credit also can't find out what's happened to my £132 credit for my gas I was told I had a smart meter in but you gave the wrong address on your message worried my credit has gone to someone else
