About Virgin Experience Days:

Virgin Experience Days was launched in March 2001 under the name of Virgin Experience. Originally offering experiences to corporate clients as a way of incentivising staff and customers, the company rapidly expanded to bring the Virgin values of quality, innovation, value for money and fun to the consumer experience gift market.

As a birthday gift from my family we visited Kew Gardens with cream tea for 2. Obviously nothing wrong with Kew Gardens it’s the most beautiful place. The ‘cream tea’ was the problem, the overview on voucher mentioned heading for the beautiful Orangery for a self service cream tea. On arrival at the Orangery, which was almost empty that day, we were told by a waitress that our voucher could not be used and we should go to ‘Botanicals’, so we walked the fair distance to be told ,’ no you can’t use a voucher here, go over to the Cafe. We then headed to the Cafe, which is part of the very busy gift shop. On enquiring to staff what the cream tea consisted of we were told, slice of cake and coffee!! So we proceeded to cashier with said cake and ordered coffee, and were told,no this isn’t part of cream tea and pointed out th member of staff we had previously spoken to, her reply was ‘Oh ok but just this once’. So basically the ‘cream tea was coffee in a paper cup with cake, (no scones and cream). No chance of a table in such a busy section either. To be honest, this is far from my idea of an afternoon cream tea!! What made the whole experience worse is that Over a two week period and at least 12 emails back and forth, Customer Support merely thanked me for my feedback. Obviously the problems arose through lack of knowledge/helpfulness by staff at Kew, but Virgin should really investigate so that people like my family do not buy experience days which are expensive and are not delivering what they promise.

Good food, poor ‘experience’. Obvious that it would have been easier and cheaper to book direct.From start to finish, from choosing the ‘experience ‘ to validating and printing and booking , was very long winded I had booked a table for 2 adults and 2 children(both needing high chairs) there was no table or chairs ready and we had to child proof the table from cutlery and rearrange chairs. The menu was very much a massive upsell. If you wanted steak, it was extra. If you wanted salad, you had to pay extra for any meat. Brownie was over microwaved, so much that it couldn’t be cut through and had turned into a burnt caramelised biscuit on the bottom. I had to bring my little boy who is two. I asked for just a small chips, but was told I had to order him a three course meal from the child’s menu, which was an utter waste. Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone

Whilst we do try and provide as much as possible within our packages and our set menus, we do appreciate that this may not be suitable for everyone. Any extras that are purchased are optional and paid directly to the supplier.

A lot of waiting around for 8 minutes of driving. The driving was good but it felt like you were in a cattle market.

Booking process too long winded and contact number didn’t work. Voucher only valid for 6 month which I think should be 12 months to have the option of going in the better weather as it was a present for Christmas.

Poor hotel with sad staff, to top it all a bad dilapidated room and very poor breakfast

we had the bateaux London cruise with afternoon tea.we recieved our table number waiting to board the boat.our table number did not exists. so no table.stood there while everybody was being seated.we had to sit at the back of the boat with the wedding parties ECT.very noisy.whilst up the front end of the boat the other people had the nice music from a piano player.waitess dropped glasses and champagne dropped on a lady sitting to the side of me.didnt get a cup of tea until later.although our order was taken twice.very disappointed with this as it was a Christmas gift from our son

Terrible hotel miles from city centre! Great meal though at restaurant. We made it into an experience as we booked a second night at a nice city centre hotel and managed to take in all the attractions we wanted to see.

This was a treat bought for me for my birthday. When having to choose eurostar times and hotels, we were amazed to see that, had we booked this directly ourselves, we would have saved nearly half the cost we paid with Virgin, so a huge mark up by Virgin for this Paris break. We also upgraded our room with extra cost to ourselves as Virgin weren't prepared to do this. Despite this we had a great break.

In terms of the numerous experience days we offer, we can only confirm that our buying team always try to source the very best rates possible from each supplier directly. Whilst we are unable to go into further details about individual pricing for contractual reasons, we can confirm that our buying team also regularly monitor prices. A supplier can always reduce their prices directly or advertise a limited-time offer for customers who book directly. As we are sure you can appreciate, this is something which is outside of our direct control, as a supplier is certainly within their rights to take such an action.

I got a call on the morning of my treatment to say treatment times had been changed. This was kind of an inconvenience as my partner and I already planned out our time at the gym. This meant we had limited times to use the facilities including gym and swimming. We specially requested for a full body massage but we got a back massage and facial treatment offered to us instead. The ladies massaging didn’t have any form of conversations with us to put our mind at ease or even a little description of products used would have been helpful. Overall not happy with our massage experience. Although the centre has brilliant facilities

If you book what is on the voucher then, like us, all should hopefully go well and you will have a good day. Our voucher was for a London gig - but we don't live in London and so we wanted to swap. When swapping, the voucher seems to be almost valueless and the excess you pay for the experience is more than buying tickets direct. Also dates are more constrained than buying direct because Virgin vouchers seem to be for the cheaper options - and this can limit the dates you can book. In the end we travelled to London and had a great night out in a short stay in London.

Not well advertised that the boat doesn't actually move! It's hard not to see this as a deliberate slight by virgin but maybe that's our fault for not reading the small print. The staff were lovely but the food and decor mediocre. A far cry from the photos displayed on the website. We just feel a bit had to be honest

Don't bother with virgin experience days, go direct and save yourself hassle. If something goes wrong with the voucher at the venue you will need to wait until office hours to resolve it, which could mean you have a wasted experience voucher / trip.

Not like a traditional relaxing spa day, set in a busy, noisy gym so kinda hard to do any relaxing, there were sirens going off and drowning out the spa music

I purchased a Harry Potter studio tour and lunch at Mercure hotel as a 60th birthday present. I also paid to extend the life of the voucher Over the years I have purchased a number of Red Letter Day vouchers and have enjoyed all of the experiences. However, the service received at the Mercure hotel yesterday was absolutely appalling. We arrived for lunch at 2pm as arranged and were shown to our table. The first course did not reach us until 2.50. One of the starters was salt and pepper ribs. Not only had it taken 50 minutes to arrive but it was also served cold! Despite having complained about the service by 3.20pm we still had not received our main course and so decided to leave. The service we received was also experienced by two other couples who were already seated when we arrived. One couple had not been served anything and the other who had just ordered a mains received their food as we were leaving.
