Wife went for a wof. Told she had to book now. That's fine. Go on website, have to make an account. That's fine. Website not allowing her to do so. Has a phone number to make booking. Rings the number, then gets yelled at for not using the website. Explains the website îsnt working and that it says to ring the number to make a booking. Gets yelled at again for not using the website. Not cool vtnz.

So slow...not enough inspectors....strange practices. For a recheck - only needed a light checked I had to join the line and waited over two hours. Avoid the VTNZ..

VTNZ Upperhutt - Failed on 2 minor issues. A rear seat belt buckle they couldn’t find and a tyre needed replacing - refused to wait 5mins to retest and closed up, found the seat buckle in 30seconds and had the spare tyre in the car Means I have to wait a week and come back next weekend as too busy in the week - very frustrating

My daughter just had the worst experience with Barry at the Manukau VTNZ going for her full license. He was unfriendly, spoke so softly and mumbled with an accent so neither of us could hear or understand him properly. He failed her for not checking mirrors which I could see she was clearly doing as I was sitting in the back seat. She drove well and confidently despite it pouring with rain and being on unfamiliar industrial roads. Barry failed to point out what her critical mistakes were so we left feeling like she didn't know what she really did wrong? I would not advise taking your teenager to the Manukau VTNZ to sit your license, Barry clearly has no people skills and has now crushed my daughters confidence in driving. Do better Barry.

Nelson, Pascoe Street. I've heard from many people in town of an assessor named Roy and nobody has told me any different to what I'm about to write here: My partner has managed to fail her test multiple times and every time this has happened, her assessor was a man named Roy. Roy has a huge attitude problem and seems to work very hard to unsettle her before the test even begins. My partner is a great, safe driver who has spent the last five years driving around on her Learners with me in the vehicle. Never made an infringement and never caused an accident. On her most recent driving exam, I was asked to come as a support person but during the pre-drive checks/info on the tablet, Roy misled her into saying "no" on the form to the question where I was supposed to be her support person. Even when you look past his stone cold, completely absent personality, it is clear that he has no place dealing with people of any kind, let alone those that are working hard to beat the nerves before taking a driving test. An absolute c**t.

Lousy long wait at Cambridge VTNZ. Supercilious staff and especially galling to leave car in the queue and go for a walk as suggested only to have other users jump their vehicles ahead of us and extend the wait further. Sucks and won’t be back.

Service is so slow, only a few cars in the que and wasted over 2 hours of my time for a warrant and simple re-check. Will never go back.

This one bloke at VTNZ Cambridge was doing a wof on my caravan a wee while back and places the caravan over the rollers to check the brakes. Turns off my Ute and then tells me my caravans brakes are faulty. So I said to him you turn the Utes key and engine off right? Yeah so what? he says. Well the caravan has electric brakes that need power from the Ute in order to operate. So he looks stupidly at me like it’s my fault. Then gives me my sticker. So today I go in for a wof on the same Ute that had its wof from them on its last time. Fails my Ute as he says the from drivers and front passenger windows the tint is too dark. So I question him over this and he starts to get irritated and says strip the tint off and come back for your sticker. So fark that I contact a local commercial vehicle police officer and tell him the story and he gets out and tests the same front windows and says there is nothing wrong with the tint considering it’s been in there from purchasing the vehicle from new. He could clearly see his test card on the inside of the window. So basically we have these guys failing peoples cars costing them time and money purely cause they can’t do their job properly or they are bored and think it’s cool to fail a few people and have a laugh. That’s the last time I deal with VTNZ especially Loyd at the Cambridge branch.

Read all the comments and feedback, and this before making up your mind about using this VTNZ for Driving Tests (this was at the Pascoe Street, Annesbrooke, Nelson branch): Our son has gone through 3 driving tests and failed (at this VNTZ/AA). After the first fail, and the second, he paid for extra driving lessons through AA (Nelson)… this driving instructor could not fault him and even spoke to us, saying he was a great driver. The first driving instructor (for the actual test) was good… he explained things to Harlen, was talkative and respectful. This driving instructor even stated that Harlen was a good driver. The next 2 driving tests was taken by a man called Roy. Roy was ill-mannered, grumpy and had an attitude of a stone… made comments to our son even prior to getting in his car that made our son feel deflated. This is not so much about our son failing the test, 3 times!! Yet more about the fairness and intimidation tactics that Roy used, prior and during the actual test. Our son was set up and will be set up to fail every time by Roy. Roy’s boss we found was immature and mocked us, when we tried to speak to them about where our son went wrong, as he was not sure. Our son has his restricted license now… yet it was not at this VTNZ/AA that he got it. The staff/instructors at the other branches were friendly and super nice!! Such a difference!

Took my vehicle there for cof in Queenstown. They Failed it for reason not relevant to the structure, chassis or drive train. Keep saying they’re not passing it cause of new Legislations. Tried to talk with the manager, who was rude and unable to produce a proper explanation. When asked to provide a copy of the new rules for cof which they are unwilling to show me

My car I hardly drive it has failed they say drive shaft joint there’s play in it. It’s funny how every time you take it they find something new even though you only turn the car on every few weeks to keep the battery charged. I have 4 cars and no time to drive them as I’m always busy with work. It’s like a big scam

My car failed its wof for something they have passed every single time before. Told get it fixed and come round the back and we will quickly check it. I turn up only to be told 3 different stories and I had to wait in the long line again for a 30 sec check! Wouldnt have minded if I had known that instead wasting time waiting for them to figure out their hand from their backside. Money hungry.

First of all was the wait time this was due to their computers or something breaking down. nobody bothered to inform the customer. Then they failed the car of a small technicality. This is because their machines were broken and the lot was getting full. This is such terrible service from VTNZ I cant believe that they couldn't inform the people waiting. of the delays or be open and honest all I got was a computerized form from them about 20 minutes after the car had been inspected. Ad photos you cant take photos there as the forbid the use of phones like they have something to hide. Manuaku Branch

My daughter went to do a last lesson with AA in Rosedale yesterday 2 hours before her restricted license practical test at VTNZ in Silverdale. Noted the man who took her for this lesson was the same one who failed her when my daughter has done her first restricted license test. The man told my daughter after her final lesson yesterday "you have improved so much, if you had done your test today with me you would have pass. Like I said two hours later we went to VTNZ my daughter full of confidence ready for her restricted license test. I just wanted to add if a person do a restricted license test at 03:00pm while it is terrible traffic and in a Industrial environment then please give them the benefit of the doubt. My daughter was never in the Silverdale area, never drove there before therefore she don't know the roads. Here is her failed test results 1. "You must not remain stationary when you have ample opportunity" The instrcture took her through the Industrial area even me almost driving for 20 years will always drive slower than the speed limit if you have this heavy traffic with cars parking on both ways on the street. It's overwhelming for an individual to "chase the spaces" if traffic came from both ways. I was actually proud of my daughter of not taking chances and risks and rather wait when it's save to go. We'll the instructor think it was slow. We'll definitely not when you drive less than one year in my opinion, experience drivers chase the spaces not new drivers. 2. "You must be in the correct lain" The instructor hold his hand telling her to turn right a few meters from where she was supposed to turn. My daughter was focus on what the instructor was saying and wanted to obey orders immediately she went straight on the far right lane and here is the catch its a lane from opposite to turn right. My daughter went over that lane but if the instructor told her closer to the time when it was actually time to turn this wouldn't happen and there was no vehicles in that turning lane otherwise my daughter would have notice this but again she was focus on his hand and voice. Afterwards we discussed this and we thought his hand movement at that turn threw her off and he tested her. Well this was not on, you are definitely setting someone up for failure by telling her to turn right at that exact moment a mile away. 3. "You must position the vehicle entirely within the lane" its terrible traffic that time she overreacted by chasing the gaps. Again give her the benefit of the doubt for this one mistake. My honest opinion VTNZ need to stop taking individuals at these times with heavy traffic because this is certainly putting everyone up for failure. I feel my daughter was robbed today. All of Auckland, Workworth are fully booked untill next year, the conclusion is there must be something wrong with your system that so many individuals fail and needs to make booking after booking. My daughter had over 20 lessons she drives every day but you still fail her.

Vtnz Gisborne, what a joke… Got there before 8:00 in the morning, rolled out at 11:30, 3 and a half hours of my life I’m not getting back… Pit staff were pleasant enough, but in no rush to get on with work, slow is an understatement…. Two lanes, but only processing one vehicle at a time, amongst 5 staff… Admin staff following suit, preferred to gossip for 10 minutes while I stood there patiently waiting ( the only person in the queue ) then rudely questioning why I was standing there, like I was inconveniencing the gossip session… Customer Service was nonexistent.. Highest cost of a Wof in town with the worst Service…And a hole lot of milking to boot… Very frustrating experience, sharpen up guys, seems like they have the means to be efficient, but trying to justify the cost, by going slower….

NEVER NEVER go to VTNZ for a WOF. My husband had told me not to but I was passing and it was handy, thought I’d get my WOF done for Christmas, but no. A) it was $83!!!! Far more expensive than our out usual guy, and they failed the car because the window tints, which I bought it with from a dealer only a year ago, are apparently too dark!!! WTF! The guy told me outright that a garage would have passed it, but he couldn’t. So now, $83 poorer, no WOF or insurance for 28 days and will have to pay the next guy as well. The car is a late model NZ new Mini, I have no problem getting anything fixed but to be told that someone else would have passed it, and to have had a current WOF with the same tints is just unpalatable … expensive and very inconvenient lesson learned.
