I actually feel pretty bad about leaving this review, not only because it's public and may have a negative impact that causes the standards to fall even more but also because ive stayed here 5 times in the past and never once had a single issue. The reason I'm leaving this as a review rather than approaching them directly is because every member of staff we encountered was very friendly, professional and did everything they could to make our time as good as they possibly could. I would give the staff 5 stars if I could rate them separately...So we didn't think it fair to have a moan at them for something that's clearly a fault with the management. So here it is, I paid £85 for one night in an escape pod with 3 others (double what it is usually is) with the intention if going swimming, having a nice meal, a few drinks and then waking up to a nice breakfast like we have every time in the past. This is what we got: Told we couldn't use the pool because we hadn't booked in advance and last swim is 4:30pm (It says on Google that it closes at 11pm and we wasn't told we would need to book at any point before I paid for the pod) We then decided to head over to the bar and get something to eat, only be to told that they couldn't feed us because we didnt book a table in advance. (Same as before, we wasn't told about this) So we had to order a kebab, not the end of the world but I could have just had a kebab at home and saved us some cash. After sinking over £140 of drinks we decided to move on to cocktails and shots (only to be told they don't sell any of those) also not the end of the world but come on? It's a pub! 🙃 We woke up this morning hungover and very very hungry, decided to brave the showers to brush my teeth and came rushing out within seconds due them smelling horrendous... (I know what you're thinking but we tried multiple cubicles and all them had the same vile smell 🙄) So we skipped that and decided to go to breakfast only to be told (you guessed it) that we couldn't be fed and needed to book in advance! By this point, the veins in my forehead began to pulsate and I was subject to involuntary eye twitches. We still decided to stay and have a cappuccino and a latte, both of which just tasted like warm milk (may have been down to our alcohol consumption last night in your defence) After this, we decided that we could starve no longer and checked out 3 hours early so we could go and get something to eat at macdonalds. So all in all, last night cost us a grand total of £301.27, for that price we could have booked a flash hoyel room with a pool that would have fed us any time we wanted it. And that's exactly what we will be doing next time.

Having never stayed at the Waveney River centre I was looking forward to it . I have to say for the money I was very underwhelmed. Yes we were only staying one night to in the AFT room as a short break. But this was going to be a taster of what the centre was like. I phoned weeks in advance to book a table for dinner as we had a long journey coming in & I got told no you were fully booked and short staffed so this meant I could not be accommodated. I got advised to go to a Beccles . Which we did but after a long drive only to then go back out along the country road was a pain & far from relaxing. The room was very clean & the beds were great but I have to say on checking in the reception didn’t have me on the “system” I used Booking.com & I feel communication was lost somewhere. We had a time slot for breakfast & when we came down. we were not booked in .(communication again) Breakfast was ok but very average. The rooms albeit clean need maintenance. The shower door was off the hinges & the hooks on the back of bathroom door were hanging loose .There was a hole in the wall with unfinished work around the radiator & the view was of laundry & staff area . I just think for £149 oh no hang on that’s what I should of paid but you added £2 for national trust without asking first !!! And I had to have a phone call after my stay to take the payment because surprise surprise you didn’t have all my details . Would I return ( probably not ) communication was shocking & I would need convincing to return Such a shame.

We camped on moorhen pitch 1, the pitch was very small we didn't have enough room for put tent and car on the pitch we had to park our car on the spare bit of grass opposite. First night was very noisy the guests next to us had family friends also camping at the sight they all accumulated at the pitch next to us and carried on making noise after 10pm I think they went quiet at approx 11pm when it started to rain. I also noticed the dog waste bin was over flowing and was not emptied during our 5 night stay, not very nice to look at from your tent. Toilets and showers were very clean and well maintained, lovely clean pool with a good booking system. Staff were friendly and helpful however the shop was bare, not like advertised couldn't get any essentials which is a shame as campers need fresh goods it could make a healthy profit. The restaurant was closed apparently no staff, not sure if this was due to covid or not? The location on the marina was fabulous for using our kayak and our children spent hours at the play area. With a little tlc it could be much better and we would return, but as it is we wouldn't recommend to our friends.

We had an excellent holiday at Waveney. The staff were welcoming and the facilities were excellent. Our only criticism was that the lodge felt a bit tired and in need of updating. The patio was quite weathered and dirty too.

Good size great hot tub. The lounge furniture was a bit worn out and some of the chairs at the dinning table were wobbly and my daughter nearly fell off a couple of times. Bath and showers were very efficient. Kitchen a good size but tin opener didn't work and some of the trays didn't fit in the oven!!

The time we spent at your site was important as we attended as a family in 4 separate groups, whilst the point I will raise do not serve detriment to staff , the are some elements on attention to detail that would improve the look of site and accomadtion. 1. Unit price £1500 for one week vs standard of accommodation - Curtain liners tired and grubby. Liner trim around internal door frame glass loose. Main bedroom bath/ on suite shower worn and signs of black mould that becomes imbedded in shower parts and will spread around shower it’s self and enclosure. Shower pressure good / but unregulated flow of hot water so it will fluctuate between hot and cold (this could have a potential risk factor ) and there could be a likelihood of some risk to a child if used as they would not be familiar with been able to control shower function . I would recommend a change if at all permissible. Blind above toilet has historic insect use as they are splatted against the material on blind. Also wall coverings in bathroom do have superficial stains that may mean a replacement or at lease a good cleanse. Also second bathroom has same tired look , silicone applied in places that is not professionally done again black mould visible in places. Oven difficult at times to fully understand the appropriate function as at times there was a delay in heating , again tired piece of equipment that may require and update. There exterior of the accommodation has a traditional look , that is in keeping with other units . However there is a tired and faded look that could do with a making good and at some point a good jet wash or replace such things as the handrails from a hse point of view there could or maybe a potential risk of an accident or injury due to a slip trip or fall as the rails are dated and worn and not 100% secure.

I have come to Waveney and brought friends for years. Also recommended widely. The site is lovely but I don’t think these charges are right for the facilities on offer so can’t recommend and unsure when to return. I wouldn’t want to come with the current set up and feel it was expensive for what was on offer. Could the pool not have been open until 7pm to accommodate more people and choice? Could the pool table not have been left open until later? The restaurant was mostly empty and lacked atmosphere and I didn’t note that it had reduced hours and lack of staff on any correspondence - rather book to avoid disappointment, as if busy, but actually that was guaranteed with the lack of resources . One of the highlights for us in coming here was a good quality gastro pub. I understand staffing was an issue this year but in view of that would reception not need more support/training. no one replied to a call for the reception about alternatives to eat. My friends had joined us for the day, driving an hour and sharing a boat- looking to book next year with 3 parts if their family and us and were not sure due to so much being closed/shutting early. Even the pool table would have been helpful. The staff were lovely each time in the bar and the young lady on the pool couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. The new shop looks like it will be nice but appeared expensive and lacked range. We hired a boat and a canoe and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I understand it has been a difficult time and we came last year during easing and felt everyone worked super hard to make it Welcoming but didn’t get the impression this time that they were being encouraged to do so. I do think the staffing issue needs to be looked at for your restaurant and what could be utilised while other facilities are reduced. It left the impression that the customer experience wasn’t important. The welcome in reception was not as usual on arrival. We were sent to the pool as they were helping out, previously someone was around the Motorhome arrivals to guide in . The pool lady was great as she was so friendly but my daughter at 15 noted a difference in lack of customer care and help with information about current services and what the alternatives were from the main reception. It wasn’t the best start to our stay.

Good family site but a few points to make. Cleaning and stocking up of toilet paper was not done Sunday until early evening after a phone call was made. Why was this not done Sunday morning? Also car turning for yurts is not big enough and I would recommend making the decking corner rounded as 1 of our party has really dented the side of their car on the yurt decking. 1 other point is the electric points on heron pitches can be through another pitch and not all people have long wires so this should be advised on booking of pitches. But we did have a really lovely family holiday

a very pleasant stay only marred by the obvious shortage of staff. High season and the ice cream kiosk and pizza outlet closed!! a pub with very few tables, its a shame there is no staff. a shuttle on site (mini bus or similar) would have been helpful as the site is off the beaten track. very clean and well maintained site

We had a lovely week long stay at the Waveney River Centre but do feel that there were a few things that are missing from the site that could make it so much better. Firstly the pub on site, it is in a lovely setting but isn't always open, no Sunday lunches?! and lacked atmosphere even though the staff were all super friendly, could do with a bit of music being played in background and although the food was OK it didn't seem freshly prepared more heated up prepared meals and lots of items unavailable etc, freshly prepared food and a takewaway service for the campers/ lodges/ moored up boaters on site would be brilliant as no other food places available onsite - missing a trick here as most would love some sort of takeaway food in the evenings to save cooking - lots of campsites have food trucks visit some evenings which would be good option too.. Also the ice cream hut is not open and just a storage area - a shame as would be a great coffee/ snack place and in height of summer season could have made a killing. The map shows a takeaway pizza place near the pool but it doesn't exist. We were on the Bittern pitches and did feel the yurts opposite were right on top of us but wouldn't put us off staying again. The shop was a bit sparce and could have had a few more bits for cooking dinners etc. All of the staff on site were super friendly and helpful which was really nice!

We had an amazing time in a quiet and peaceful area. The accommodation was amazing and the staff super helpful and friendly. The location was really good, right on the broads and we can recommend hiring a day boat. The lodge we stayed in was extremely spacious, tidy and added to the great time and experience we had. Only recommendation I would give is for thicker curtains as the early sunrise makes the rooms bright even with them drawn. Luckily for us our children are up at the same time as the sun 🙄🤣 Thanks

Fantastic campsite with all the amenities you need, great playground for the kids. Unfortunately the food at the Waveney Inn does not meet expectations. They forgot some of our order and the food that did come was burnt, no discount offered for forgetting meals.

Our first visit we were disappointed our Yurt was very tired and in need of being upgraded. Mould, blood stained inside, floor damaged. Wood burner flue rusted through. Outside area also needed a spruce up, benches dirty unkept & NO outdoor chairs as advertised. In lockdown these things should have been given a facelift or maintained. The bar and restaurant were understaffed. However reception staff were lovely as were the pool staff.
