“I use Wordery because sometimes I can't find books in my local bookshop and I hate Amazon because they are tax-dodging, low-wage paying, employee-abusing scumbags. I don't shop online if I can avoid it because I like my local high street and want my local businesses to thrive but also because of the excessive packaging. So I was particuIarly disappointed my recent purchase came in three different packages. I don't understand why - do they come from different places? Why don't they all come in one package? Apart from that, great selection of books and good service.”

“disappointed because I thought I was going to receive a Hardcover book instead I receive a "hardback" version. This makes my 740 page book very hard to handle.”

“My book arrived in a vacuum sealed plastic bag. Firstly, there was no padding to protect the corners of the book from damage, so the package wasn't really a package. It was the book itself with a thin plastic skin on it which would only serve to protect it from water. Secondly, I needed to use scissors to get the plastic bag off of the book which is not something I want to be doing to a book that I haven't even opened yet. The book itself was in very good condition as described, but I think there was a high probability that it might not have arrived in good condition if it has been dropped or thrown into a bin or van, and I might have easily damaged it just trying to pry the plastic bag off it. I like the bookmark that came with it.”

“I really really really want to use a company that isn't Amazon. But the delivery massively let Wordery down. Books arrived inexplicable in two different packages and each time I had to go and pick up at the post office. If in smaller packages the books could easily have been posted through the door of left in a safe place. Also the delivery on one book in particular (a common one so hard to say why) took over a week. I will use them again as I'd rather not use Amazing who don't pay their taxes, but... really the delivery needs to improve.”

“Keenly priced products, but let down by slow, and unfortunately accurate, delivery quote. They cited that their carrier does not offer tracking, but in actual fact the parcel was delivered by Royal Mail, a carrier that DOES have a tracking facility!”

“Ultimately, the service was fine and if you buy more/ pay more you can get books delivered more quickly. If they really want to take on Amazon the service has to match and/ or be clearly different and better - or significantly cheaper - which it currently isn't. it is amazing how quickly they can get books into despatch but the standard delivery from then on in my experience was slow - five days. The autoresponders and person responders regarding cancellation trot out platitudes about not being able to cancel soon after an order is placed. The only way would be to refuse delivery but given standard delivery is with Royal Mail this is difficult to do and therefore you can't really send books back economically which seems to be central to their business model in making people keep their order. I am sure they are all over the Distance Selling Regulations, however. Tried it, know how it works, might come back.”
