ordered the 2.25" round buttons but they were slightly smaller and did not work with my hand press so I had to resort to using the older buttons I was already using but of lesser quality.

Product is fine. What is terrible is the international shipping rates! for $35 worth of product the final bill is well over $300!

Revised August 31, 2023. I'm revising my rating again. My original issue with American Button Machines was that the items pictured in the kits on the website did not accurately depict what was shipped and received. ABM finally reached out and we agreed to a solution to resolve the issue. I kept my part of the agreement but ABM apparently felt they were not obligated to keep theirs. Like the products and would rate the products a 5, customer service -5. Revised to add, I was contacted by ABM after I posted this. Apparently, there was a snafu in communications and were very apologetic. The problem has been resolved and I'm revising my rating. I would have done this sooner but just now realized I still had access to my review. I first contacted the American Button Machine Company via email February 12 concerning my frustration with my order. I had ordered the 1.5 inch versa back mini split key ring and the 1.5 inch self-adhesive magnetic sets anticipating they would contain the 1000 pack sleave of mylar as shown on the website for those sets. I would have gladly ordered the 1000 sleeve of mylar at that time had I known that would not be included. In reading what AMB customer service was committed to and the pride they felt in providing outstanding customer service, I have been greatly surprised that no one has bothered to reach out to me. I have found this to be an even bigger disappointment because I like the product and the receipt of the product was in a very timely manner, but I have very little confidence in ABM taking care of a bigger issue should the occasion arise.

Thank you for your feedback, Dixie. We are truly sorry that there was a delay in responding to your concern. At the time you reached out, our offices were closed for a week due to an ice storm. When you order supplies on our site, you will receive each of the components required to make a complete button in the quantity for which you placed your order. You ordered 100 sets so you were sent 100 pcs of each of the components required to make 100 finished buttons. There is also an option on the same product page to order 1,000 sets that would include 1,000 pieces of each component, including the mylar, but you selected the 100 piece option so that is the size package we sent to you. We are very sorry if there was any confusion on what you would receive. You are always welcome to contact our Customer Solutions Team with any questions on our products before you place your order and they will be happy to assist you. If you are still unhappy with your order, simply contact us as you did previously, we are still happy to issue a refund per our policies.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback, Andy. We are very sorry that you are disappointed with the shipping delays. As are most all industries across the country, we have been affected by supply chain issues that have impacted our lead times unlike anything we have experienced in our entire 18 years of business. We are working hard to do our very best to combat steel shortages, staffing shortages and transportation challenges. We want nothing more than to be able to continue shipping orders within 1-3 days as we have always taken great pride in being able to accomplish but there are far too many variables at this time that we quite simply can not control and they have resulted in unavoidable delays. We do have a published notice on all pinback orders of 1,000 pcs or more so that you can plan accordingly for the delayed lead time, which fluctuates depending on demand. Orders are being shipped in the order they are received. We are doing everything possible to ship orders as fast as we can and are truly sorry we have not met your expectations. We are also now offering unpinned button sets that have a much shorter lead time. You still receive all of the same high-quality components, you will just need to insert the pin into the back once you receive them. The machines work well but 15-20% of the supplies they send you with them are made poorly enough that I ended up with only 800 buttons even though I expected to be able to make about a thousand, resulting in wastes of time, energy, and materials. They don’t stand by the quality of their individual pieces and you must inform them of damage in writing within two days, even if you were sent literally 4,000 pieces between collets, shells, mylar, and pinbacks. I really wish I hadn’t given them my money now.

We are sorry you had some unusable pieces in your order. We have one of the most generous return policies in the industry but unfortunately we do have to set some time limits on claims, such as in this case, where several months have passed. Due to the nature of metal button supplies, we anticipate that a few pieces will become bent in transit (which usually can be bent back easily by hand) and we add a few extra in to make up for it. There is an industry standard tolerance of 5% to accommodate any damages. Should you happen to order again and experience this type of issue, please contact us as soon as possible as a 15-20% defective rate is completely unacceptable. If you experience this type of failure, either the parts were damaged in transit or there is something wrong with your button maker or process. No matter the cause, please reach out to our Customer Solutions Team and they will be happy to help you.

I love ordering with you guys but this time I was upset some of my mirror buttons pieces were bent :(

Thank you for your feedback. We never ship the parts from our facility bent. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the metal button supplies, some pieces may get damaged in transit. We typically add in a few extras to cover any damaged pieces but in your case we replaced your products as requested.
