“How can you say the damage to my property is due to thermal movement!! There is a huge tree next to the building and our structural engineer pointed out the cause of the destruction - THE TREE!!! It is so obvious as the roots have also caused the pathway to heave. I will now employ a specialist and will go through lawyers to put you right. You have omitted to provide any evidential fact and only state what you want as it suits Davies Group Ltd.”
“Terrible service, didn't reply to email when it was stated that the company would do within 30 days and also phone calls. Didn't return documents I asked asked for 2 months ago.
I think it's a scam company.”
“Really bad , slow and throughly poor experience. I suspect these guys are con merchants.
Having taken out gadget insurance as part of a travel insurance package with Outback insurance, I assumed that it would be covered by Aviva- the primary insurers.
Very unfortunately it was outsourced to this company. My daughters phone was damaged when she was in Australia. She was advised to go to an Apple Store to get a quote for repair which she did.
Her claim was then denied after much delay because this was not an authorised dealer- all of which are in the uk!
What a joke….”
“My elderly parents have been waiting months for their travel insurance claim to be settled. They returned all the required documents to the address on the claim form including a doctors certificate that they had to pay for. It was sent recorded delivery and signed for by someone at the company address but they said it should have been sent to a different address and my parents must pay for a new medical examination at their own cost.”
“I didn't know I was dealing with Davies Group until I put in a claim on my Staysure travel policy, on which I paid extra for travel disruption. Staysure claim a great Trustpilot rating but this seems to be based mainly on people's experience in taking out a policy, not on claims. When I first dealt with Staysure they did seem to have a good reputation on claims but that is now in tatters. I claimed on 20th October, didn't get a proper acknowledgement (except to my complaints about lack of acknowledgement) until end of January. Then, although I had sent all documentation required with my claim, they demanded further documentation that was no longer available to me because they had delayed so long. I WILL fight them.”
“Submitted claim for emergency surgery in US. Initially told 15 working days to assess claim, then kept moving date back. Now been 16 weeks and we still being hounded to pay outstanding bills of $44,000. Not enough staff. Upheld our complaint that they mishandled claim. Awful company. Pls, pls, pls don't use them.”
“Took out the silver policy which stated on their key features document that we were covered for flight cancellations. We weren't. They only cover cancellations for a few select reasons - and hide these reasons in a 97 page T&C document. Underhand and immoral. Financial Ombudsman, Martin Lewis, BBC watchdog, Small claims court here we go”
“Had to cancel a holiday due to the sudden death of my wife’s Mother.
Took out insurance through Sykes cottages with this company.
Made the claim in August and still waiting two months later.
Death certificate provided but have repeatedly been asked for paperwork that has already been provided.
Terrible service and would strongly recommend not using them.”
“DO NOT BUY INSURANCE FROM THESE!!! currently being strung along for over 2 months asking for the same paperwork I've already sent for a cancelled flight
No communication what so ever
At least dick Turpin wore a mask
Davies Group: Insurance Claim: 2442440”
“Unpleasant experience. We have purchased business insurance from this company. When we start reporting accidents we were absolutely shocked with a level of service provided by Davies. Delays in all cases, unable to send updates, hard to get through the phone line, email fairly answered, poor communication between departments, and another issues which casing a lot of stress and time consumption. Definitely not worth 60k per annual.
If you insure your fleet, think twice and make sure you got a Broker who will represent your company.”
Put in two claims for my house in the Isle of man. Davies Group rejected both one for a garage one for damage to my house. I had been unable to travel due to restrictions on Covid with the isle of man government for nearly two years. They made the decision without Davies group inspecting the property relying on photos and an Australian loss adjuster having to use the ombudsman and then the courts to get resolution. Worse with the property damage not making an inspection at all
These types of companies work with insurance companies and are just a filter between you and the ombudsman”
“If I could give less than one star...
If I could give less than one star I would. This will teach me to keep looking for cheap insurance providers (house insurance). Their 'tag line' is "Reimagining Claims" - I can only say that in my experience that 'reimagining' must be synonymous with being creative with the way in which they understand the English language and they way they twist it within their reinterpretation of the terms of your policy.
It must also include taking as long as possible to let you know that they are not going to pay the claim especially in circumstances where the repair was critical and I could not wait. Having incurred damage early September 2020 it has taken the Davies group until 14 March 2021 - months after the repair was put into place at a cost to me of almost £1,000 - for them to say they are sorry - I note other comments about politeness but when they are keeping your money why wouldn't they be polite. I had made a detailed claim and then provided a detailed follow up identifying their errors and missing documents that had been relied upon by Davies but never provided to me. Instead of responding to these details it simply apologises and reasserts that I am wrong.
My advise - avoid like the plague. Pay a few pounds more and save yourself the distress of dealing with a company determined to avoid a pay out.”
