“Quality of the chicken is amazing, great taste and texture. My only issue is the packaging. I have to always make sure it's in a secure dish to thaw in the fridge as the packaging always leaks. This makes me a bit nervous frankly, although each time I've received it the chicken has still been frozen and goes straight to the freezer until used.”
“Excellent quality chicken. My only complaint was that it was shipped in a container with a lot of aluminized plastic, with no option to return the forever garbage. Kind of inconsistent with being regenerative farmers. Sadly, I will not place another order unless I hear that they've changed their packaging to something more reasonable.”
“Overall, I really enjoy the chicken breasts we get from Pasturebird. I think the one issue I would like to see fixed is many of the packages leak when defrosting, which is not fun to clean-up.”
“The quality of the chicken is amazing. The only issue I had was the delivery of the order on January 13th. Fedex at first showed that the order was going to be delivered on January 16th and then the delivery date disappeared. When I sent a message, I received a response that the order would be sent out on the 23rd. So I waited till the 27th and sent another message. Got a response that it was delivered a week prior ( I still had not gotten the box ). They wanted more information and by that time I was done with answering questions. I did receive it over two weeks after I ordered it but at that time I ended up ordering another box and that box came in less than a week. I got very irritated because I felt like they did not get what I was saying and didn't know what I was talking about. That was the only issue, with that being said I will still order again from this company due to the quality of the food.”
“Takes a little bit to ship but that's because people are spoiled by Amazon. Product came well packaged in dry ice. I know where I will be buying my family's chicken from now on. Chicken tastes great and is much healthier for you.”
“The taste is pretty good, but I was surprised by the size of the chicken breasts. I typically associate that size of bird with a hormone induced growth. Is the size of your chickens normal?”
“Flavor/ quality is great except for thigh bones being broken and small bone chips being dangerous. Can you use a processor that doesn’t break the thigh bones?”
“Dear Farmer Paul. I love your story. i love your mission statement. i am very impressed with your operation. i am very glad for your family that you have had such rapid success. i have tried all cuts of your chicken and it is wonderful. Just one comment, if I may. The taste is great, but you might want to double check with your butchers/packers. Sometimes the chicken does not smell "fresh" when opening packages. Kind of a turnoff. Other than that, great meals!”
“The meat tastes great, but I’m disappointed in the packaging. In my first box over half of the meats weren’t sealed air tight and leaked upon defrosting. I thought maybe it was a fluke for one box, but it’s happened with my second box too. When we defrost a day in advance, all the juice leaks out and the chicken is dry in the bag for a day or two, which may be impacting the taste/freshness. Hopefully they improve on this.”
“The quality of the chicken is great, the ethical mission behind the company is a huge attraction, and the price is really decent for what you're getting. My only complaint is with the packaging - so much plastic, including foam inserts. I know this is one of the challenges of being a company that tried to deliver convenience in the modern age, and there are ecological impacts of shipping straight to my door as it is, but I've seen 100% recyclable, paper-based cooler packaging on the non-dairy ice cream I ordered, so if they can find a way with a frozen product that can't be allowed to thaw, I'm sure it can be done for chicken too.”
“The product is very good. I have been searching for a more regeneratively raised chicken and am very happy with your system and the results. My only negative is the packaging. I usually only prepare one serving at a time, and the pieces are so crammed together in the packages, that it is difficult to separate out one portion. I would also suggest looking into a recyclable paper form of insulation for the shipping box.”
“I have the best regards for the mission of Pasturebird, I think its about time that we have properly raised poultry. I feel that on all accounts the ordering, delivery, timeframes, etc. Pasturebird is doing well. Coming from a chef and someone who has butchered plenty of chickens and other things from fish to beef, i think that the butchering and the packaging of your product could use a little help. The spatchcocked chickens are pretty rough.”
“Love your efforts to farm the “right way” Love your mission statement, Love farmer Paul, and his story. The first time i ordered whole chickens i thoight they were kinda small, for the price, ya know? But this time they were much larger, and just as tasty. Packaging is superior, delivery time is okay, about a week.
I was so excited to see you are selling livers! I am having my first batch tonite, and looking forward to them. Keep doing all you do, hope you are gazillionaires by now!”
