“I was looking for a better chicken product and it was especially important to me to find a quality chicken that had no junk in it because of our family's health problems with food. When I received my first order from Pasturebird I was delighted when I opened the box and saw the size of the chicken and how fast it arrived. I am always concerned about it getting here still frozen! I fixed the chicken that night and was so happy how it tasted! My dad was a farmer and my mom had chickens and we would butcher our own and I remember how good it was. I forgot how good that chicken tasted until I tried yours and it reminded me immediately how chicken tasted back then!”
“Can so tell the difference from store bought! Such delicious chicken AND you support a local family run American business!!! Will be buying more! Thank you PastureBird for ethically raised healthy chicken!”
“Paturebird offers me -- a health-conscious senior on a fixed income -- the most economical source of clean protein. As we age, good protein becomes ever more important to us. As we are seeking other clean sources of food, protein can become a big expense. Buying Pasturebird chicken can reduce the economic burden of eating healthful foods. I order a 20-pack of spatchcocked halves, and I get at least 3, and usually 4, meals from each half -- plus bones to make stock and bone broth. I get the advantage of the most delicious, humanely-raised meat at a price below what I'd pay for "grocery store chicken" of questionable pedigree. I love Pasturebird!”
“This was my first purchase. To be fair, the quality of the chicken is excellent, much better than M***'s that I have been buying. Be prepared, communication is terrible! First, my tracking said delivery was expected Wed. & when it didn't arrive Thursday I sent an email & no response. On Sunday morning there was a box of half-thawed chicken on my porch, tracking now changed to not yet left CA. I was able to salvage 3 packs of chicken from the bottom of box still cold. I have sent 3 emails so far, & no reply from Pasturebird. Maybe they will read this review & take the time to reach out.”
“Packages have holes and leak as they defrost. My last box came to me late and partially defrosted despite another arriving frozen. Customer service was basically lump it. One reason I was a customer of butcher box for so long was that they always made things right. I wanted to get US produced pastured meat and I believe in the way Pasturebird harmonizes land and animal husbandry. They just need to do better with packaging logistics and customer service.”
“Making ginger chicken broth for a friend going through Chemo. Really appreciate chickens that are not full of fat.
One suggestion: do not put the plastic absorbable pad in the package because some of us begin the cooking process straight from frozen, skipped defrosting to minimize contamination. Thank you!!”
“The meat is superb. It's 100 times better than grocery store chicken. I wish more places were doing what Pasturebird was doing.
However, be wary if you live in a hot climate like Arizona. Delivery if delayed (which mine was - FedEx is not reliable anymore) you will notice your dry ice is gone and the meat is starting to thaw. I don't like the idea of spending a premium on meat and having it thaw before it reaches me. Seems like if temps are high there should be more dry ice (top and bottom) and also a guarantee of delivery. I'd rather pay a little more for a delivery that will actually make it. What's the point of putting "perishable" on the package if they don't seem to care?”
“I miss the larger freezer pak option that contained 30 lbs of chicken with several packs of thighs and legs (and no wings). The new freezer pak option is just 25 lbs, has too few thighs, and too many wings. I don’t value wings like we value breast or thigh meat. If you price the 25 pak by the pound I’m paying too much for wings which have little meat. I’m considering looking elsewhere for pasture raised chicken. I have enjoyed your great customer service when you have made a mistake, you reshipped missing pieces. The flavor is very good, less fatty, and is filling. We can tell the meat is more nutritious than non pasture raised chicken. But I buy in bulk to Kroger my food costs down. Bring back the 30 pound mixed cuts for the special sale price of $199, please.
P.s. I have recommended you to all my friends and friends but now you’re deals aren’t such a deal…sorry, but I can’t feed my family at a price point of $10/lb. For two years we have eaten chicken only from your company. But the prices I was willing to pay was $6-7/lb.”
“Wonder customer service, the best chicken wings I've ever had, also chicken sticks when they were in stock. I can't wait to try there thighs, drumsticks, & whole chicken. I've had more then this source for "pastured raised " & this, at least for the wings has been by far the best. You can just taste the chicken soaking up the sun & land with this, you'll love it I promise you.”
“I just placed my first order with Pasturebird and got a bunch of frozen organic chicken wings. The price was great and the taste is top notch. Highly recommend!”
“Have not eaten any yet was very pleased with delivery! We live in Pa, and the chicken was frozen solid. Have used the rest of the chicken in freezer so will be eating it very soon. I was concerned as FedEx doesn't always do well over here. I ordered beef from I think it was Virginia and it took a week to to get spoiled meat!!”
