I had hit a bollard on my rear right wheel arch, this caused my side air bags to deploy on that side. The car failed to start as a result and blocked part of a road. I called RAC for assistance as I had breakdown cover with them, they decided this is not a breakdown and instead an accident and refused to help unless I pay them £169.00. Long story short my insurer, Co op, were equally incompentent, instead I had to get my employer to rescue me, 12 hours later, whilst my car posed a hazard on the road. RAC are good for taking your money and no good for offering any service. If you have RAC membership and need help, then you have my sympathies, which is better than the RAC will ever do for anyone that needs their help.

Saturday the 18th of January, my car had a slight problem, with my RAC policy I contacted the call centre to report my concern. However I received a call approximately 10 minutes later from RAC’s mechanic Gordon. He was very professional and checked my car thoroughly and I was impressed by his knowledge and understanding of my vehicle, from this he told me the problem with my vehicle and reassured me that my vehicle had no other major problem. I appreciate the help, patience and time. From Emmanuel

We would like to say a huge thank you to Abbie Stables!! A perfect Scotsman who went above and beyond to help us on our journey! I will be writing to the head quarters to ensure they know how wonderful this gentleman was and what an absolute credit he is to the organisation!

I’ve got RAC breakdown recovery, I was left with my 96 year old mother stranded at Fforestfach slip road. by the traffic lights, I rang the RAC they told me to contact the police which I did because I was causing an obstruction, then i rang the RAC to tell them the police were on the way. this was at 3-20 I was told by the police to get out of the car and wait on the payment, as it was unsafe, Well I rang the RAC and was told there would be a 4-6 hour wait I gave my phone to the the police officer to speak to the RAC direct and they told him the same, he said to the RAC that this was unacceptable as the car needed to be removed as soon as, possible because it was causing a serious obstruction, he then called the recovery firm who collected the car now they will not release my car as RAC will not pay the bill, any suggestions will be very much appreciated 😡

Having been a member of the RAC for a number of years, I find my wife and I today 20th January 2020 waiting for the RAC and have been told to expect them between 14:30 & 15:30, we phone them at 10:58! Its 4°c outside and we are OAPs with no heating in the car and its freezing, we are not happy with the RAC service and we do not even know if they can fix the fault roadside, if not even more of a wait! I will not be renewing my membership and I could not recommend them to anyone!!!!

Having been a member of the RAC for numerous years, having the top level of cover, I called them to attend my vehicle (flat battery). Initially I was told at 03:45 hrs that the earliest expected arrival of their operative would be 07:00hrs. Quite clearly this is a wholly unacceptable waiting time, reading the reviews would confirm that I would more than likely be waiting considerably longer than this. I emphasised to the operator that this was poor service, to say the least, and insisted that my vehicle was attended earlier. I pay the RAC when my membership is due otherwise they would not offer their service, albeit poor, I therefore would expect them to reciprocate and attend promptly. They have now contacted a 'local' garage (30 miles away) who are going to attend within 90 minutes, I won't be holding my breath. My membership renewal is due in the next 2 months so it will be 'good riddance' to the RAC and 'Hello' to an efficient provider like the AA or Green Flag. A very bad decision staying with the RAC for all these years and a mistake that I will never make again.

Been waiting 8 hours for ‘roadside assistance’. Single woman , freezing cold ... long time ( 35 years) member... makes no difference obviously. Fuming doesn’t even describe it. Going to cancel membership with great joy.

Unlucky to have broken down and put my RAC cover to the test. Promised a callout within 90 mins. Car was in a very busy spot causing travel disruption. They eventually arrived 3 hrs later!! Dreadful service.

Arranged a car inspection check prior to buying a used car. RAC did not give correct information re cancellation rights. Then failed to confirm the appointment with the vendor resulting in the car being sold to another buyer. When I asked for the £240 fee refund they abruptly refused with an irritated tone in their letter. Until the RAC treat customers as customers there will continue to be regular poor experience complaints.

These people are a joke with a catch phrase of there being a waiting time of 1.5hrs or sometimes they jazz It up by saying 90mins as if that is some improvement. Alas this is a lie which they keep repeating. After numerous calls to their (help!)desk including one lasting 45mins which resulted in nothing constructive with the operator saying they needed to terminate the call as they had to answer other breakdown calls... no doubt to tell them it'll be 1.5hours wait ! One call was to tell them my phone battery was v.low and needed to give them an alternative number from my passenger. They ignored this vital communication change. For me it was 5.5hours before RAC responded, it was also by then 2.30am

Attempted to contact RAC several times regarding a general query. Having gone through the automated responses am told very busy and cut off. Clearly insufficient staff. Utterly useless. I hope the poor souls who have broken down receive a better service than this.

What a useless shower! They lie and make false promises which they know they will never keep even as they speak! I was told that I was a “high priority” caller as I was a lone female and had a young daughter stranded at school waiting to be to picked up. In addition to this my phone battery was at 15%. It still took them 4 hours to come out to me. I would give them no stars if I could. I would never want cover from them again. Stay away from them.
