We are 68 years old and had to cancel a planned holiday due to my husband contracting a serious illness a week before departure. We supplied medical details and confirmation from our gp but Aviva rejected our claim. Seems to me that they are more than happy to take your high premiums off you but don't want to pay anything out on legitimate claims. Don't touch them with a barge pole.

My husband is terminally ill with cancer and they won't send us a claim form out or reply to our emails with questions we have asked. Staff don't know what they are taking about and keep palming you off. All they care about is taking your money. Do not buy anything from them.

Aviva has been great has a car insurer. They got my car fixed after a accident when I reversed in to a post which broke my bumber and tail lamp.. They were very understanding about what happened and got my car fixed within a week.. The repair was fantastic. I didn't lost my no-claims which was Great. I have home insurance with aviva also, this was very good value has I got discount with having my car insurance with them.. I would recommend aviva for both car/home insurance when you need them. Go on give them a try.

As a third party claimant, the service was appalling in my opinion. Took 6 weeks to resolve, 4 times the documents had to be sent, staff who don’t appear to understand the issues and take responsibility for solving them. A fortune spent in many, many calls having to be made to chase this up and on hold for 15 minutes before speaking to anyone. If I was a cynical person, I would express the opinion that they were dragging their feet intentionally to make it difficult. If I could leave a review with no stars, that’s what it would be

Read these reviews before you purchase: https://www.reviews.co.uk/company-reviews/store/aviva Was waiting 2 weeks to hear back from Aviva what is happening with my car. I called them numerous times in between and was fobbed off by them telling me there was no update even though I knew the garage had gone back to them with a quote. Finally received a call from the Assessor saying “you know by now your car is a ride-off”. How would I know when I hadn’t heard anything from Aviva. They then offered me half the value of my car, expecting me to shell out an extra €6k on a new car even though the accident was not my fault and the other driver was completely liable. I did not agree to this. Heard no more from Aviva, but the next day got a call from the Garage asking for my vehicle registration cert so they could scrap the car. This is appalling, even though I had agreed nothing with Aviva, behind my back they were getting rid of my car. Their service is absolutely terrible and I can see why the insurance ombudsman is after them for not paying out on claims.

53 years of age. Have been with Aviva 6 years and never made a car insurance claim - I have the maximum no claims discount. This year they put my insurance up by 20%. I immediately was quoted £300 cheaper from a rival company. Loyalty is non existent for the blood sucking Aviva. Will never return to these vampires..

Horrible service My issue is that I am waiting for my policy documents for 3months!?!? So I tried to get in touch with Aviva. Day 1:I try to call, and I am for 28 min in queue. Finally a member responds and advises me that I need another department but he will put me through. The next second he hung up the phone. I found another number to contact them, where voicemail message confirms that they can't answer due to training. I leave a message, and I am called back within an hour. The member of staff understands my problem, apologizing and promising to send my policy on email and the detailed docs by post. Day 2: email still not received (hopefully other Doc's will be received by post?!). I try to get in touch with them, but of course, they are on training and can't answer the phone ..... At the moment still waiting for being called back.

Having dealt with my house subsidence claim for 10 years and not been able or willing to fix the problem, Aviva have now withdrawn my claim on the say so of Subsidence Management Services, Innovation Property (UK) Ltd, as it is a loss making claim for them! Having to get the Ombudsman involved now! Use this company at your own risk. You have been warned.

The most unprofessional and suspect company I ever had the misfortune to deal with. They’ve offered an “unconditional” small sum of money (£125) after all the hassle they put me through but I only get that money if I do not complain to the financial ombudsman. Avoid at all costs. There’s a reason why they have low star ratings on most websites

Annual car insurance due at end of January quote from. Aviva was up by 25% on last year. So after nine years with Aviva I obtained a more realistic quote elsewhere - No loyalty to existing customers.

Good customer service but the car insurance renewal quote was much higher than other companies, seems loyal customers have to pay more!

My vehicle was involved in a hit and run, having been insured with aviva for ten years and never having a claim, I thought they would treat me as a valued customer and pay for the repair, instead they did everything they could to find a reason to not honour the claim, it went on for four months, in which time they asked me things I shouldn’t of had to answer, did I have proof of purchase, could I prove where the money came from, proof of My employment, their details, that was only some of the stuff they asked for the list went on an on. Luckily I had all of the things they asked me for, They then said oh we need a copy of the police report, I rang the police to ask for a copy which they couldn’t find, so aviva said that without it they wouldn’t process the claim and that they had forgot to ask me for it in there previous list of Requests luckily again the police records department found it, which I forwarded on, I kept ringing aviva to chase up the claim, repeatedly they said they would call me back, they never called back, ever, I complained to their head office, which they admitted was way to long for there normal process They offered me £200 pounds for the inconvenience Which I refused, After four and a half months They refused to settle the initial claim saying the accident couldn’t have happened the way I had said it had, even though I had photos of the accident. To say I felt cheated and betrayed is an understatement They may as well have said “ your a liar “ I feel they did everything to avoid paying out and acted in a very unprofessional manor, not what you’d expect from such a large company. I’m in the process of taking them to court. Disgusting company all round I’d never use aviva again As long as I live

Be very careful with health insurance. After many years of contributions and little in the way of claims I find that with an operation planned in 2 weeks time the rates on offer for my consultant are totally unrealistic for my choice and I will be seriously out of pocket. Very unhappy and distressed by this.

Be very careful to question their pay-outs. They have a history of short changing customers and it has been written about in the newspapers. They are still doing it. They tried with me - telling me that my pension pay out was way less than it should have been. When I questioned why the life assurance pay out was less than the estimates both 12 months and 24 months prior they had no explanation other than "error". Then, by their own admitted errors, they delayed sending my money and as it was abroad the exchange rate went down and I got a lot less than I should have done. They admitted the error but won't rectify it. All of this was/is intentional. They try to keep your money in any way possible. IF YOU MADE THE MISTAKE BY HAVING YOUR LIFE ASSURANCE/PENSION/POLICIES WITH AVIVA, GET OUT QUICK BEFORE THEY STEAL YOUR RIGHTFUL MONEY FROM YOU. AVIVA SUCKS!

So. I was with them for 1 year after the driving app discounted my insurance down to an okay price.. 2nd year, going well up until a month before my renewal.. I brought a new car less than a month before my policy was due to renew - switching my ncb onto the newer vehicle, they failed to tell me this would result in my renewal, at the end of that month being split into 2 years and 1 year ncb instead of 3 years... great.. one whole year wasted. I swallowed that pill and gave them the benefit of the doubt.. Roll on my last renewal (22nd August). I received a letter, that despite now having 3 years no claims, and the 1 year on my old car, which is wasted.. that my insurance had gone up £60 a month, almost £700 over the entire year. I called to question this, the response was oh you've added breakdown cover.. I had my policy open in front of me, I hadn't, especially since I pay for breakdown separately.. They then went on to tell me I had added modifications to my vehicle.. again I had policy open in front of me, I had no modifications added to the vehicle nor policy. He couldn't explain to me why, with an extra years no claims bonus the price had gone up, trying to sell me down the path of I had done something to increase this price - I was then told this price was fixed, they wouldn't match even offer to match it with my current quote. To give you an idea of the costs, they were quoting an existing customer of what would have been a 3rd year with them £3100 for a 1.6l renault clio, for a 24 year old driver with no prior convictions and 4 years ncb. I emailed their customer service and complaints team on the 22nd July, I received an acknowledgement email on the 29th. Over a month later not a single word from them. I wish I had cancelled my policy on buying my new car in my second year and gone with Hastings or Admiral. I would have exactly the same amount of NCB, and I wouldn't be chasing for proof of NCB and an explanation on how they can increase prices by over 20% with no reason. Maybe I'll pop into their head office in London on my next day off, see if they reply to me in person?
