Dreadful company ran by Indians who do not understand our laws will sign you up but once you're in very hard to get out I've just taken your wan ers to ombudsman and one my case never will I use you this vile company again take money out of your account like atm won't read meters cannot speak to anybody and if you do will give you the runaround

I’m struggling for more than 2 months to change to British Gas energy. I couldn’t pay my bills all this time. Always when I talk to them on the phone when I tell them all my problem they just transfer me from a department to another. When they can’t solve it they just hang up on me. Even my supply address is not correct I’ve told them where I live for multiple times and now my supply address is not correct. I’m not satisfied with anything they did until now I hope after I put this review someone will explain me something. I've said I will never call them again to solve this because every time I call i just waste my time. If they will need me they know how to contact me 🙄

I had been paying monthly over the phone, despite this I received threats of debt collectors, and so I called them direct and was informed that the reason for the debt collectors threat was because I had not set up a payment plan. I asked if setting a direct debit would stop the letters and he agreed, and so reluctantly I set up a direct debit for £60 a month, which he agreed was reasonable based on my usage, any debt would be cleared come the warmer months when the heating was not in use. Imagine my surprise to discover today that they had taken £96.74, and left me overdrawn on the bank. There is nothing I can do, the email confirming the £96.74 was sent out on the 2nd January, I missed the email, and because of that there is nothing I can do. So, DOUBLE CHECK all of the details, ask for conformation of all transaction by letter and not email, take the name of the agent you are talking to, and where they are based, log the date and the time also. The agent who told me £60 had no right to do so according to the person with whom I spoke today, but there is nothing short of making a formal complaint that I can do, which won't help my current situation. As soon as I have paid the bloody bill in full I will be finding an alternative provider.If I could have given British Gas zero stars I would have done so.

New app does not work. I called the other day was on hold for twenty five mins then told I’m with a new division of British Gas so had to call a new number. Why. I didn’t change divisions just was made to go on a new app. Get the app sorted British Gas.

After sending in a complaint a few days ago i"am have put to send another. After putting £50 on my prepaid meter 3 days ago i have just checked it to fine only £16 left. As i only have two rings working on my hob and can not use heating or hot water till boiler repaired on the 7th Fed I would like to know where has the money gone. I have put £100 since 19th Jan and i was £20 in credit , that is £120 gone in 7 days on 2 gas rings . No hot water or heating at all . So where has the money gone.

We paid a debt off in full back on the 6th January 2024. This was on the electricity meter and we wanted to switch to Octopus Energy. British Gas have blocked the move 4 times now saying about an outstanding debt which we have already paid. The debt wasn't taken off the meter until a RTI code solution was offered nearly 3 weeks later. Even then, we have been reassured numerous times on the phone that the switch wouldn't be blocked, as well as being told to top up a couple of times to update the meter. We have topped up 11 times since paying the debt off in full and yet they still refuse the switch over. This company is a joke and they clearly exploiting their customers by overcharging and preventing people from moving. The ombudsman have received all the information and we await a response from British Gas to deadlock the complaint but considering how this company is, this probably won't happen.

Avoid them at all cost! They have been increasing their price so much I had to switch a supplier (octopus) which is very good by the way. Out of nowhere, British gas charge me £80 for no reason even though when i was with them i was on PAYG. They send the outstanding bills to debt collectors and i have stated to BG I am not paying a dime, we can happily go to court so i can sue them big!

Absolutely dread having to contact British gas if there's a problem with my boiler.The people who take the calls just can't be bothered, and I suspect they just hang up when they don't know how to resolve your issue. Would put no stars if it were an option. Some serious customer service training is required for your phone advisors.

British gas are a thieves, I paid they abuse prize and when I moved to octopus I paid all my bills with them and after 6 month ask me for more than 300£ Now they send me to the mafia MARSTON 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

This company should be investigated for fraud. My father was admitted to hospital December 2022, transferred to a care home March 2023. British Gas are still deducting £360 per month from his bank account even though he hasn't lived in the property for over a year. I have informed customer service on numerous occasions but what I have told them has been dismissed and the £360 monthly deductions continue. Customer service advice has been laughable, their advice has been to cancel the direct debit through the bank. In the next breath they tell me debits will remain on their system and debt will accrue, a county court judgement will be taken, the bank account will be arrested, British Gas will take the money anyway.

BRITISH GAS YOU ARE A DISGRACE DISORDERLY NOISY UNPROFESSIONAL CALL CENTRE ..SOUNDS LIKE THEY ARE AT A WEDDING RECEPTION NOT HELPING DISGRUNTLED CUSTOMERS. BEEN HUNG UP ON PUT ON HOLD FOR AGES AND PROBLEM STILL UN RESOLVED ..ALTHOUGH STAFF TRY TO BE HELPFUL IT IS CLEAR THEY KNOW VERY LITTLE. I HAVE CONTACED THE OMBUDSMAN AS I I HAVE NOT HAD MY ISSUE RESOLVED DESPITE EMPTY PROMISES AND BEING TOLD IT IS. . ALL DUE TO COVID....HOW I LAUGHED AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS

Website useless. Technology always down. Moving my account. Trying to give final meter readings can’t on. - line or by phone. Smart meter hasn’t worked for months. Absolutely dreadful company - no interest in customer service !

Absolutely impossible to speak to someone in the UK you are after 40 minutes passed to advisors in India or Africa which after not answering your query just disconnect the call BG as become a toy town company after 15 years I'm leaving for a supplier that cares

I order a new boiler installation in the value of £6.5 k cause they said my currently boiler was too old to be serviced but turns although they said they could not cover it they still charge the supposed cover that does not cover my boiler, I have been charged £25 several months for a service I don’t have Ok mistakes happens what I do t get is how can not get in touch with anyone I there. Well after hours I finally get someone they direct me to another department and call always drop Last one said will call me and as soon phone rings once they hang up saying I did t awnser their calls They are all disgusting full of tricks and I’m not letting this doggy company to install anything in my house. They should not be in business at all ripping customers like that

I have been a customer for 13 years and I have been let down tremendously by British Gas. 2 years ago my husband and I separated I needed to change the direct debit to the 1st of the month to keep an eye on bills by myself. I work full time and get no help from him at all so I needed everything in check. It took them 4 months to put this in place after numerous phone calls. Move forward to June.23’ I was having a little financial difficulty so I reached out to them I lowered my bill by £40 I called back in July to put it back to normal as I could then afford the full amount again. No problem whatsoever. Roll onto this month where my divorce was coming to an end and I was getting ready to go to court. I had to raise funds to get a mortgage to buy my husband out. Mortgage broker said I’m really sorry but basically “computer says no” I paid Checkmyfile only to find British Gas have an agreement to pay on my file. Because of a £40 discount for 1 month they didn’t take it off even though I been paying the full amount every month even on my statement it says “your on target with your bills” now I have 7 months worth of agreement to pay on my file! That they won’t take off.I have now lost my home and have to sell because I couldn’t get my mortgage. I have rang British Gas 7 times this week I have been passed around from pillar to post even cut off 3 times and NOBODY can give me an answer. I spoke to someone yesterday who has cancelled this invisible agreement to pay but she can’t take the previous 7 months off apparently I have to be thankful it wasn’t a years worth apparently! I have 3 children relying on me to buy them a new home but I can’t because my credit file has this agreement to pay on it. Nobody in British Gas will give me an answer or even cares as to how or why this has happened…….moral of the story DONT USE THEM

Absolutely appalling company. We have had a contract with these people for years. Steadily they have become a faceless, useless, unfriendly set of online clones. Everything we have with them is about to be cancelled (if we can get their 'chat' to give us a coherent answer). Don't use them if you can help it.

Register with British Gas aand even sending them the closing readings still received wrong bill and need to pay £3000. They don't want to fix the problem, and they will take the money from my account. Worst decisions i have made to register with this company. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!

Absolute jokes got quoted £2870 to fix inner flue pipe cause apparently it had dropped for him to then also say “at that price may aswell pay extra to fit a new boiler instead cause it’s is old “ .After my mum being in tears I called someone else to come see it and £200 later it’s fixed and no new boiler needed ! You should be ashamed !
