“Carfax is essential for buying a used car. I was looking for a 2004 LR Discovery, a relatively rare and frequently unloved vehicle. I was pretty picky-no accidents, low mileage, consistent dealer service, and preferably one owner. Believe it or not, people will not be totally honest when selling a vehicle. I bought a subscription to Carfax and ran all potentials through it. I was able to winnow the field down, separate truth from fiction, and finally acquired the perfect vehicle. Carfax was invaluable in the process and I would not be comfortable going through the process without it.”

“CarFax was an undisputable top resource in my buying a previously owned Jeep Wrangler. I was specifically looking for a vehicle with about 15-years of age and being listed by private sellers. There really is no better way to vet cars than CarFax and a little common sense. Through CarFax, I was able to immediately disqualify cars with suspect history including false odometer readings. I ended up buying an extremely good quality Jeep that where I trust its history. I had the confidence to buy after using CarFax and my Jeep is has been a great addition. I've shared my experience with others in circle and will never buy a previously owned car without first reviewing the CarFax report.”

“I was in the market for a collector car, a 1989 20th Anniversary Pontiac Turbo Trans Am, one of 1550 produced. I traveled 9 hours close to 600 miles (Chicago) to check this car out. Upon looking at the 2 owner car, which listed 22k miles on the odometer, I just didn't feel right about it. I had my wife at home run a Carfax on it instead of just going by what the seller had told me before I left. Come to find out this car had over 207,000 miles on it and over 5 previous owners, and had several issues with the car throughout its life. I then called the dealer from my hotel room and said that I couldn't do the purchase because of what I had found out. He was very surprised by what I had told him and actually tried to explain them off as "errors" on the report! Carfax saved me from making a $23000 mistake. I found another car in St Louis the next morning and had my wife run a Carfax on that one. It all checked out. A real 2 owner car. I headed to St Louis and looked at the car. Everything check out as stated. I bought the car and had it shipped to my home within the next few days. I am so glad I had Carfax! I have used them several times since and had great luck! Thank you Carfax for being there!”

“My Jaguar was totaled by an 8 point buck weighing around 350 lbs. It was a complete surprise and the insurance gave me 20% less than I thought the car was worth so I was rather heart broken. The Jaguar XJ8 cost me no more than my Buick Park Avenue and I really enjoyed the car. With less money than the car was worth, I shopped for a year for another Jaguar and found a mid-priced 2004 with 25,500 miles. In 11 years the car had averaged 2,300 miles per year, or 44 miles per week. I could not find another Jaguar with that low a mileage in the 2003-2008 Jaguar line and thought the mileage had to be wrong. Carfax verified the mileage and I purchased the vehicle. Unbelievably, the local Jaguar dealer gave a passing grade to the car mechanically on their 35 point inspection list. Checked good condition on all items and I have a car that mechanically is about 2.5 years old, and the interior appears brand new. Thank goodness there is a way to verify mileage. “Obviously, CARFAX doesn't have all the information on every car because many maintainence jobs and basic oil changes, et cetera, are not reported (such as work done at Walmart). However, I would and did not consider even buying a car without looking at CARFAX report and finding a vehicle with clear history. CARFAX was an invaluable asset in finding a car with a guaranteed good maintenance history.”

“I looked at two trucks from a reputable dealer and suspected something wasn't quite right and CARFAX helped me prove it. The first was supposed to be perfect but had been totaled. The second was only 6 years old and supposedly had a broken odometer, but CARFAX showed that it really did have more than 500K miles on it. I'm so glad I checked the CARFAX!!”

“CARFAX helped me find out the vehicle I was looking at had more miles on it than the odometer said. The trucks odometer said it had 110k miles, but it actually had 290k miles”

“Needing to replace a very old car, I went to Carfax as one tool to be sure the one I was considering was one I could feel safe buying. The info I found told me what I needed to know before I even test drove the vehicle. With that and several other searches into the make, year and model, I purchased the 2007 Colorado two months ago and have so far been happy with the decision.”

“I used carfax to run a report on a car I wanted to buy at an estate auction. The car had no keys with it, so nobody knew the miles on it. I ran the carfax report beforehand and estimated mileage. It was lower than anybody else estimated. I bought $5000 cheaper than book value. Thank you Carfax.”

“I recently pulled a CarFax report on a car I was preparing to buy. The report reflected that the car had been in a minor front end accident. I took the car to my mechanic before the purchase and asked him to focus on possible front end problems. It turns out that the accident had been minor and the repair done well.
