First let me say, I totally agree with most of the comments on this forum and feel sympathetic to all of the victims who have fallen prey to Ebays’ shenanigans. I have been a seller on Ebay for a while. I advertise and ship products  EXACTLY as I advertise. Never had an issue until now: A buyer purchased a bike lock with alarm from me. (I voluntarily included an accessory: a cage to put the lock in). After they received it, they “claimed” a strap was missing on the accessory, and requested a refund. The buyer specifically said “there was one strap on there, but not the other”. This accessory DOES NOT have any straps on it; you can choose to attach it with something like zip ties. I now suspected this buyer clearly had bad intentions. Before agreeing to a refund and running the risk of receiving the item back not in the same condition I sent it in or not receiving it back at all,  I requested they send a front and back photo of the part they “claim” was missing, and they NEVER did. I explained this to Ebay and asked them to open an investigation. Their initial response is that a case had been opened and they may reach out to me (the Seller) and/or the buyer to provide additional details. While waiting to hear the status of the investigation from Ebay, the next thing I know, I receive an email from Ebay saying they sided with the buyer and issued them a refund- and the buyer apparently also gets to keep the item and not return it to me. Ebay NEVER sent me any information/ status of their investigation of this case; Nothing saying they had reached out to the buyer and asked them why they did not send the information/ proof I requested. Just ruled in their favor despite the likelihood that they were either scamming me from the start or may have just had “buyer’s remorse”. Now despite my positive selling history after 19 years, I am left with this buyer having a refund and keeping my item All at my expense- no recourse, really? I now have been scammed twice- first by the buyer, and second by Ebay. And don’t even bother with Appeals or even trying to reach a live agent; You are met with NOTHING but algorithms and artificial intelligence through chat messages. *A MESSAGE TO ANY POTENTIAL SELLERS*: Ebay DOES NOT protect Sellers like they claim. They, like many other companies these days are a breeding ground for scammers and have absolutely become complicit in allowing scammers to benefit; Those of us doing the right thing are truly left to fend for ourselves without recourse- other than escalating to legal action or otherwise. *A MESSAGE TO EBAY: Stating what should be obvious, you can’t have Buyers without Sellers. Continue to treat honest Sellers this way will only lead to no one selling through your Marketplace and you’re already questionable reputation continuing to take a nose dive- You’re shooting your own self in the foot. The Better Business bureau REALLY needs to investigate Ebay’s practices. **SELL AT YOUR OWN RISK ON EBAY*.

I was scammed by a buyer who purchased a Coach bag at a lower cost than the exact same bag I sold them. They purchased the bag and it was delivered 6/26. They didn’t leave a review, and I honestly forgot about it. On day 29, after receiving the bag (by their own admission) they purchased the exact same bag for a cheaper price and opened up a SNAD case on EBay Day 30 which was 7/27. I accepted the return when requested and issued a return label. I never received the returned bag and was forced to fully refund the buyer plus shipping both ways, despite being absolutely honest as a seller. I was also charged an additional $66 in fees for the return shipping label and my two failed appeals. I literally just spoke to 19 representatives before one would tell me where the tracking number showed delivery. Prior to call 19, all I had was the zip code of my hometown and delivered. I subsequently, through customer representative 19, learned it was delivered to my parent’s address. I couldn’t find my parents address anywhere on my account either and neither could the representative. It was returned to my parents’ address, which I cannot find anywhere on my account. They don’t have it their neighbors don’t have it. I certainly don’t have it. Nor were any of us expecting it to go there because they’re not on my account. I'm not a reseller.  Just a person selling out of their closet.  I do purchase frequently, hence, the need to sometimes sell.   I’m not cut out for being jerked around on a total of 25 different phone calls where I followed the first 18 representatives directions in real time on the phone, and received contradictory information on calls 18-25. I filled out an affidavit. Nope- tracking says it was delivered, according to eBay it was delivered. I was told I could have claimed I received XYZ in lieu of my bag and would’ve won. The problem with that is, I’m actually an honest person. Who would do that? I don’t want to be worse than the buyer that totally scammed me. They won’t even let me close my account until October 6. When I asked if there was anyway, I could get myself banned prior to October 6, the customer service representative suggested I either list something illegal or a known counterfeit. What type of business tells you to commit a crime? It’s insane.   The sad fact is no one should be cut out for eBay because of the way sellers are treated. I trusted them. I spent a lot of money as a buyer and paid a considerable amount of money to them as a seller.   I took photos of the package and postal receipt for the buyer.  I sent tracking updates to the buyer.  I had 24 pictures, a manufacturer number, and a scannable QR code for this bag.  I literally did everything I was supposed to do.   30 days later SNAD.  The buyer even admitted they had found the bag cheaper at an outlet.   I never received the return and was unable to document the condition of the bag because I didn’t receive it. I cannot document thin air, and I absolutely refused to lie. eBay chose to break the trust that 16 sales representatives created, as they directed me through the return process step-by-step in real time on the phone. They refused to take my word. Now I’m out a $400 NWT bag, the $200 refund to the lovely buyer, and $66 in fees.   It’s a catch 22.  They literally closed my second appeal via email while I was on the phone with a customer service representative taking notes about my appeal case. How is that even possible? I lost more than an expensive bag and $266. I lost respect and trust for eBay itself.   I’m going to say politely that I’m disappointed and not willing to lose anything again. I guess that quote about trust being earned over time and lost in a second is completely true. eBay will eventually fold. If there’s nothing to sell, there’s no one to buy.

Totally unacceptable. Just open account and same day restriction. Don't be bothered to deal with such a bad company.

Clearly there would be no EBay without sellers , yet eBay allow buyers to leave disgusting viscous reviews on items they havnt received, in fact it was out of stock. These buyers are evil & want to destroy your credibility over a small issue. Very unfair .

ebay is good, but not great. I recently had an Ebay purchase ($185. package) mis-delivered by FedEx ground....they left it by the side of the road 600yards from my house. the package disappeared (stolen). I maintain it was never delivered, not even close to my house in town, with a clear name and number on my box, and on well labled city street. I reported this to EBAY , wrote and appealed 4 or 5 letters, sent the FedEx "delivery photo" and a photo of my mailbox in front of my house....photographic evidence the package never reached me...But no, they maintained proof of delivery was given, and the sender had to make a claim to FED EX.....meanwhile the seller was too lazy to make that claim, and why should they? EBAY paid them their money. I made a claim with my credit card , and they decided in my favor and clawed back the payment to EBAY. NEVER USE A DEBIT CARD< ALWAYS A CREDIT CARD WITH EBAY

I sold an item of furniture for $100 and eBay paid me $72.88, which means eBay charged fees of $27.12 on a sale of $100 which equates to a whopping 27.12%. That is daylight robbery. I will never use eBay to sell anything EVER again. Nor should you!

I am extremely frustrated with eBay as a seller. Despite being a loyal and honest seller for years, the platform has continuously failed to provide adequate support and protection. I recently encountered multiple instances where buyers exploited the system, filing false claims and demanding refunds for perfectly described and shipped items. eBay's resolution process is biased towards buyers, disregarding clear evidence I provided to support my case. I lost both the items and the money, with eBay offering no real recourse. Additionally, the fees have become exorbitant, eating into any potential profits, making it almost impossible to run a viable business. The listing and shipping processes are clunky and outdated, and their customer service is virtually non-existent, with long wait times and unhelpful responses when you finally get through. Their algorithm also unfairly buries listings from smaller sellers, favoring big businesses and making it harder for independent sellers to compete

Horrible customer service when you have issues as a seller. They stole my funds by giving a buyer an undeserved refund of $230. The buyer got his item (that was really late) and his money back. I lost my money, the item and the time and money I spent to ship the item to him. I feel scammed after being a seller for over 20 years.

I had been a good customer for 4 years and I bought many items over these years. But sometimes I had either delivery people deliver my orders to the wrong address or sellers sending them tithe wrong address far away from my address all claiming it was delivered to me. Or as recently use a wrong tracking number, when I clicked on to check my tracking it took me to Amazn.com and it said, Sorry we can't find that package! I sent several messages to this seller and I first asked them to please let me know if the balls on the end of the curtain rod can be removed and put back on because I noticed the openings of my curtains were small, but they never answered me but shipped it right away instead. I also sent messages to them about the tracking number being wrong but they never responded to this either. So I sent an email to the Better Business Bureau and I called The Federal Trade Commision and made complaint reports. I also posted this on ebay's buyer community but unfortunately the people who responded to my posts weren't the kind helpful people who responded to the many posts over the years about the fake tracking number scam. I also contacted ebay about this too, but unlike in the past they usually sent me a message back in other cases when there was a problem like their site saying my item was delivered but it wasn't delivered to my address, and they usually said that if the seller doesn't respond in several business days they will step in and I usually got a deserved refund but they didn't even respond at all this time. I eventually not that long afterwards did get my curtain rod delivered to me and I let the seller, eBay and The Better Business Bureau and The Federal Trade Commission know this. I recently got a shocking upsetting email from ebay saying that I was suddenly unfairly suspended indefinitely without any real explanation or warning! I did get about 4 refunds recently but there were some problems with some items, I also tried to cancel a few items before they were even shipped yet buy ebay wouldn't let me so the sellers gave me a refund. I really thought the suspension email was a spam email until I went to my account and all it said was xxxreasonxxx and claimed that I violated their site's rules but never said how. My last communication was in messages with a seller who offered and gave me a refund was friendly and I thanked them very much as I always did.

Ebay sucks. It's gone downhill completely. Their customer service is horrible. Not to mention how now when he sells up on eBay you have to share it in order for people to view it. Over 75% of stuff sold on eBay. Comes from China and you can get it twice as cheap on temu or wish. And if you're a seller, you might as well sell on Facebook marketplace. You'll do a lot better. At least they have better customer service and take care of both their buyers and sellers. Unlike eBay.

Paid for an order on Ebay with a credit card. All of a sudden I am getting scam calls and there were 3 fraudulent charges from the state of Alabama. Whoever the thief was charged at Domino's and Burger King restaurants, of all places. Goodbye Ebay!

Ebay believes the customer is always right. Buyers are protected from scam sellers, but unfortunately, it does not work the other way around. If you are a seller getting scammed by a buyer, there is not much you can do about it. It's a site for dishonest buyers. Sell elsewhere!

Sold so reproduction shirts on ebay. Kept getting another member reporting me. Anyway sold some authentic shirts and ebay banned me for 10 days. After 4 days ebay wiped my account because of my listings which ate all brand new with tags from the stadium store. They've wiped negative feedback I've left on a sellers pages who's got more negative than positive. I believe the platform is one big scam and not run properly. Banning me for not enough description is pathetic and whilst on a ban suspending my account. Keep your account I don't wanna sell on it anymore like lots of people that have had enough of the platform. Used to be great about 10 years ago. Absolute joke now
