Reservation was cancelled via Europcar Android app. The app. confirmed the cancellation on screen. However, I was charged a no show charge. I did not have internet in flight and was not able to check for a cancellation email - I trusted the app. It's no wonder the app. has such a poor rating. My experience with Europcar Australia has been excellent, but at this point in time I will never use Europcar again!!

Two weeks ago I returned my rental car in Ireland. My full deposit never came back to me. Now, after more than two weeks of daily chasing, I am still no closer to speaking to the right person or getting an answer on where my money has gone. My deposit has simply disappeared without any information. No one replies to anything, and you're bumped around the company with no intention of getting any real help - the customer service team are an agency who have openly admitted to having no way of resolving the money issues. They are there to say sorry and inform you to send an email. One lady on the CS team told me that Europcar is getting thousands of complaints every day - the number of people facing this same issue is scary. Europcar is simply taking people's money and then burying disgruntled customers in rehearsed mumbo jumbo of post-pandemic delays in the hope that we'll give up and stop chasing. And it's effective - I don't have the time to chase this money every day or spend 30 mins on the phone to be told I need to wait another 20 business days to see if the money turns up. It is utter nonsense - this is scamming on a huge scale, in broad daylight. This is an international company brazenly and shamelessly stealing from people.

Never had good impression after hearing from friends but experienced it myself this week. On 13 May 2022 man on reception at Granville advised to come next week and book car. Then following week on 17 May 2022 young staff member at reception without checking any computers refused to book car even though dozen of cars parked outside. Staff was not keen to help find a car for future dates and looks like they have their own rules. And they never answer phone then why list a phone number on website.

It was very disappointing to see the racist behavior your staff exhibited with one of our favorite and honest youtuber Traveling Desi. The company culture flows down to each employee of the organization and it is disheartenejng to see the culture instilled in your employees. This is a service oriented industry and this kind of behavior is what leads to organizations such as your closing down.

Avoid the bait and switch: Reserving a vehicle on your website was easy and pleasant. After this point, the experience was annoying and frustrating. Upon arrival and picking up reserved vehicle, AutoEurope desk agent did not have the vehicle or "similar" available and attempted to UP-SELL to a more expensive vehicle with a MUCH higher security deposit (several thousand dollars!) which places a major hold on your available credit funds. If you have a limit on your Credit Card (because the majority of us do not hold a "black card"), this becomes a major issue. The agent became frustrated because of not having the available security deposit and offered us to provide several credit cards to meet the deposit requirement for the UP-SELL. This seems to be an unacceptable normal process as while standing in line, observed that this was the same attempt with other customers who was there to pick up their reserved vehicle and their frustration was apparent. Vehicles do not include a spare tire. Was informed that the vehicles are equipped with "Run-Flat" tires. Nonetheless, this is an issue because Run-Flats are meant to operate to approximately 50MPH(80KM) p/hour at reduced speeds without air (punctured/damaged). So what is one to do without a spare? If you are traveling long distances in Europe and get a flat, you end up in a bad way with huge delays. When we received our rental bill via email, there was an additional charge without any explanation and it had nothing to do with fuel as we topped off at the petrol station not more than a mile away.

Worst service ever. I had a confirmed booking but when I went to pickup the car with my family and a lot of bags. They said we don't have the car available you have a confirmed booking for. So you can either take a smaller car in which we won't fit or you can pay double and get a pricier car.

Recently had to change travel plans due to covid. Was told I could drop off car in Sheffield instead of Gatwick airport for £50-more then fair. Only to to told by Sheffield site that its £350 and that we couldn't add a new driver to drop off the car in Sheffield. Absolute robbery and clearly just a way to gauge money out of anyone unfortunate enough to catch covid. Shame how some companies have seen covid as nothing but an opportunity to make money where other companies couldn't be more accommodating. WOULD recommend avoiding this company they are scumbags.

Horrible experience, the quoted price was not anywhere near it. I was charged for gas even though I filled it up all the way. I was hit with $400 for car damage, and although there was a small bump, it was not $443 worth.

Arrival time: 7pm, 5 April 2022. Location: Europcar desk in terminal 1. Problem: Insurance scam. Absolute scam. I should have read the reviews first. I didn't even take the car in the end despite having paid in full ahead of time for a car for 2 days (with insurance included and paid for at time of booking) to go to my aunt's funeral in Dublin. Figured it was better to leave car in airport car park than get caught by a further Ryanair/Europcar scam. Over €200 wasted and no car. Left airport in a taxi with my wife instead of risking taking a car from these scam artists. I booked this straight through the airline literally to avoid hassle (I repeat including insurance) and then upon arrival the lady at the Europcar desk proceeds to tell me that Ryanair insurance isn't worthwhile and that they need to block €1,600 off by credit card for insurance, despite being already fully insured as per my booking. I had zero trust that they would not further pilfer my credit credit card on top of what they had just done. I could foresee a number of imaginary scratches/damages and my credit card wiped out upon returning the car by this outfit. A total disgrace in this day and age. Rip off Ireland in full swing. For the love of God please read the reviews first and save yourself a lot of trouble. I had heard that they were bad but in this case seeing really is believing. No f***s given by staff. Just a shoulder shrug and a "better luck next time" attitude.

Watch out, they will lie to you at the rental desk and then charge you extra afterward. I rented a car, was told the tolls would be billed to my credit card, then was charge a $30 per toll handling fee by Europcar for each toll charge.. the handling was more than the rental fees. Watch out.

Absolutely terrible. I travelled to Newcastle for my mother's funeral, and needed a hire car for a couple of days. I booked a week in advance, but when I arrived to collect it, the staff at their Newcastle Central Station office made no effort to give me the car I had booked. Instead, I was given one of the three Vauxhall Crosslanders they had on their lot. I specifically didn't book a small SUV because they have terrible fuel economy, but was given one anyway. When I got to the car, the front interior has been cleaned but that was it. The outside of the car was filthy, to the point where I could hardly see out of the rear window, and there were dead leaves trapped between the door and the door frame that had clearly been there for several months. The irritating excuse for a customer service person kept saying "sorry" but clearly wasn't. Still, I suppose sarcastic mealy-mouthed apologies are easier than actually fulfilling customer orders. I returned it after a day, and I'm still waiting for my refund. Of all my car hire experiences in the UK, Europcar is by far the worst.

Awful customer service! My problem started when i rented a car from europcar Oxford. I was doing a NHS clinic to help with the backlog of patients and needed a car as my own was being used by my wife to ferry the kids around on a normal Saturday. I booked through the website for the car to be delivered to my address on the Friday and to be picked up on the Saturday. 2 hours before the scheduled drop off I get an email from europcar saying they have changed my booking and I need to pick the car up from the branch! I attempted to contact the branch to clarify this as there was no way I could get there. Despite multiple attempts by me and customer services I couldn't contact the branch. This was very stressful as I had rearranged my clinic so I could be home at 5 to receive the car but I had no idea now what was happening. I then got a call from my wife at around 4pm to say the car had just arrived - it was just by chance that she was there and I then had to send photo's of my driving license whilst I was in the middle of clinic. I then find in the morning that the car was dropped with the tank only 3/4 full! I used the car on the Saturday to do an extra NHS clinic. I returned home to make sure I was back for the car to be picked up at 5. No one arrived. No contact from the branch. Attempted to ring - no answer. Sent email no answer. On the Monday I attempted again to contact the branch first thing in the morning - again couldn't get through - spoke to someone at customer service who also couldn't get through. I was rung by the branch at 10.30 whilst I was in the middle of clinic at work to say someone was picking the car up. Explained I was at work and wouldn't be back until later. No mention that I would be charged for the day. The car was eventually picked up in the evening with a full tank of petrol. I was then charged an additional days rental by europcar! Eventually they reimbursed my after 2 months and many emails and phone calls. On the Monday whilst the car was on the road outside the house it received a parking ticket! There is no where within a square mile that is not resident parking close to the house. I informed the drivers when they picked up the car on the Monday of this and that I would not be paying it as they should have picked the car up on the Saturday - they just shrugged their shoulders! Europcar are now trying to charge my £90 for the parking ticket - £50 for the ticket and £40 admin fee! I am not paying! They say it is my responsibility despite the fact that they have agreed that my rental agreement finished on the Saturday and they didn't pick the car up! All in all an awful experience - if they try and retrieve any money from them I will contact 'Which' for legal advice. Will never book with europcar again!

After the RAC booked it, they rang to say they could not commit to supplying a vehicle even 6 hours later. I had to book another car hire company. They suddenly arrived about 3 hours later. They didn't pick up for hours but expect you to wait for them for 8 hours after paying £15 for the pickup service. During this time you are still responsible for the vehicle. (see T&C's 11.1) I made a complaint via email to get my £15 back, they refused. Customer services are useless and very rude. Could not get through to the local branch ( Tonbridge) for ages. We spent so much time on the phone trying. The Tonbridge manager called after I left a message with a sales assistant who rang me asking for the car back the next day after they collected at 6:10 pm the day before. She said we could have the £15 back but nothing was ever received. Online customer services still refused to give £15 back after a formal complaint via email for a car collection that took 4 hours! The branch is only 2 miles away! 8 hours is not reasonable. Poor communication. Other reviews reflect this. Additionally, the delivery driver said the gauge always showed 8/10th full even though actually 10/10th full. So I returned it 'full', but it wasn't the case so gave them extra petrol on top. ~They will probably leave a standard response below telling me to call their rude helpline ( who can't even call the local branch for you) or unhelpful email, if they do you, you know to AVOID!
